One word there amazing fast inexpensive quality work it's unfortunate that after the passing of her husband they closed the doors. Unless someone knows different I've been there at San Jose shop and closed I do miss them I did business with them almost 40 years and never had any issue always guaranteed word but unnecessary because you won't need the warranty. Same story as many other reviews. Took two cylinder heads over to Lynn Auto Machine for the works. Paid and had them installed. Two of the cylinders immediately dropped valve seats after she did a "valve job" and completely destroyed my Hemi engine. I have been doing business with Lynn Auto Machine for over 25 years and upon bringing the situation to her attention her response was "take me to court". So I will be doing so. I paid 260$ to have lynn's machine shop on Angel Street in San jose service my Dodge charger heads. 1 week prior at AutoZone I spent 179$ on 16 sparkplugs. They are10 bucks each! 5.7 hemi requires 16 plugs. I handed them my heads with sparkplugs installed brand new plugs. I didn't notice when I first picked them up but I called the next day and I asked where are my spark plugs I just paid a lot of money for those and I was told that they got thrown away goodbye. I got hung up on before I can respond. I am so upset about this and I feel like I have been done wrong. No one would throw away brand new spark plugs the plugs were installed in the heads.my car has never started with those spark plugs they were literally brand new. I really feel like I should be compensated for my spark plugs. I must say they did a very good job on my heads. when I got them back they looked and performed way better than I expected. They do quality work. And they work fast. I just really feel like they could have put my spark plugs in the bag just like every other machine shop does and just like I have gotten in the past. These brand new expensive spark plugs I really feel are not in the trash. read more

I really wish I had the experience that most of these reviewers had with this machine shop. I dropped off a block yesterday to have Decked, resurfaced and hot tanked and this is what they return to me today 3/8/19! Nothing is clean, not even resurfaced or decked! I pretty much threw away my money here and need to have another shop fix this for me. This is just really unfortunate as this place came very highly reviewed by 2 of my friends as they had their blocks and heads done here years ago. Maybe they were better then. read more

This Lady doesn't do a good job of cleaning the head, the valves were never cleaned. Paid her to pressure test, clean, clean valve so it doesn't leak. Take it to her if you want to take the heads off 3 times !!! I have 2 shops and do a lot of head work. Will never take the heads to her again. read more

Go to the Lynn machine site and read my review this place is a RIP off I was quoted $160 to change valve springs and I had the parts upon arrival the new price is $320 so I had my son go by with the same heads and springs and his price was $200 now my son is 1/2 Japanese and looks more like mom do you get the picture make your own conclusion I see exactly what it is I took the heads somewhere else and to change springs stage II port and polish heads for $325 I sent the heads to CFM IN for a total $469 now you tell me who is ripping off WHO That is why she can afford very very expensive European sports cars does your sphincter will hurt when you leave lynns read more

Lynn's is a very low-key automotive machine shop that believes in fixing things by repairing the components rather than replacement of the whole unit. This approach is increasingly rare but I'm very happy, they did a great job for me. The boss lady, Lynn is very competent and straightforward. This Mrs Lynn is very dishones. She said $200 to rebuild my 4 cylinder head. Then takes it all apart and made gouges on the surface of the head. Literally lies and said she could not do it! Then said if I wanted to buy a rebuilt one from her for $550!! turns out it was saved by an HONEST machine shop. I've should have payed more attention to these reviews. Short story: Fast service, affordable price. Long story: I needed to resurface an engine head after a blown head on my car. I drop by just before closing time. The garage is a small, old, ma-pa shop in the really industrial part of San Jose. Parking scarce. Before I finished saying head gasket blown, they took my engine part and began to work while it waited. It took 20 minutes, and cost only $40. I'm not a mechanic so I'm not able to really comment on the actual quality of resurfacing. But I did reinstall the part myself and the car that didn't even start before now runs well. read more

Unexpectedly I picked up another S10 project with a blown head gasket off craigslist. Took the head in to none other but Lynn. She quoted me a very fair price to rebuild it, and told me to come back in the morning. Later on in the afternoon she called me up and said this one was cracked. I happened to be around the corner for something work related, and made time to pop in that afternoon. She showed me the crack, and explained that she couldn't fix it. She had new heads available, but this is a budget build and I chose a rebuilt head. I paid Lynn her money and went to put the new head in my work van. All of the sudden I hear a ruckus and its Lynn yelling at me. I had accidentally given her a $100 bill in with the $20's I had give her, over paying her by $100. She could have zipped her lips and I would have been out a hundred bucks but she stepped up and got my attention and recounted it for me. I have had three heads rebuilt here, and it was always perfect and at a very good price. I brought a fourth head in, and she advised that I do nothing to it (no charge!) She was right! Be prepared to bring the seals in from your head gasket set. I just buy the head gasket set before I bring the head in, and let her take the needed seals out of the kit. read more

I bought a Toyota 3RZ engine on eBay, and when I installed it it had a head gasket leak... It failed the block check which showed exhaust gas in the cooling system. So it had a bad head gasket as a best case scenario... Worst case, cracked head, which is what was wrong with my original engine in that truck... A new head is really expensive, and I don't really like the idea of a Chinese clone part in my Toyota... And the new Chinese clone heads cost almost as much as a used japanese engine did... On the recommendation of the parts counter guys at Piercey Toyota, I called Lynn's to find out what it would cost to check the head for cracks and resurface the head. Lynn's is the place the dealership takes their parts that need machine work done. Over the phone I told her that I wanted to make sure the head was okay before I authorized any further work on it. She said "Of course, you don't want to waste money fixing a part that is no good." After I dropped the head off, she told me to call back in a couple hours, and she'd let me know the status of the head. (There was a slight language barrier, but I had a good feeling about her integrity, so I left without so much as giving her my name... She told me to say I was the guy with the Toyota head when I called, and she would know who I was) 2 hours later, I called back. She told me that the head passed the crack inspection, and quoted me the price for resurfacing the head. Her prices were so reasonable that I ended up having the valves ground, and new valve seals put in as well. (I want the truck to live as long as possible, so I felt good about spending just a little extra to make sure everything was in tip top shape in regards to the head... She wanted to know if I would bring her the seals, since she would have to charge me a little extra if she had to pick up the seals... The total price for the work with her getting the seals was $150; very reasonable! The head looks perfect, and I am very excited to get the engine back together and get my trusty old Toyota back on the road... The resurfacing looks flawless, as it needs to be with an aluminum head on a cast iron block... I would very highly recommend Lynns Auto Machine shop to anyone who needs machine work done. This was easily the best bargain I have had with this little project... If I ever need machine work done on an automotive part, I will go to Lynn's... Good people! read more

This lady is very rude, no customer service at all, please don't go to this place, it sounds like if going to be a little bit cheaper than some other shops but you going to end up paying more because they always going to say than your heads are not good anymore and make you buy a "new one" , but guess what,,,,they going to end up selling you your own heads. I called this place today to get a quote on some work on a normal, single-mass flywheel from an old E30 BMW 325i. It's a normal single mass flywheel that takes a single disc and should be machinable by any automotive machine shop. The person on the phone was pretty difficult to communicate with in general, and also immediately start insisting that the flywheel is "two disc". I eventually figured out that they meant dual mass (which is not the case for my flywheel) because it was a BMW and that's what BMWs have. I started to try to explain that while some BMW flywheels are dual mass, not all are and this one isn't, but they hung up on me before I could finish. I wasn't getting rude or raising my voice or anything either. I was being patient and trying to explain the situation. Man, I guess business must be good if they are turning away customers with such haste. I guess it's for the best in the end, though. I don't want a place doing machine work for me that doesn't communicate well, they might not do what I ask. And I don't want someone who thinks "All flywheels from car manufacturer X have flywheel of type Y" working on my flywheel. I'll remember not to come back here later when I get my head work done. read more

Brought my 911 cylinder head in for rebuilding, first She checked for cracks, Head was cracked, i ask do you have another one, sure she says its in the back leave yours here come back tmro, Ok great, I come back pick the head up, its sealed up tight. she doesnt want to give me my cracked head back, 40 dollars more. I get home check it out, Its the wrong head, 1-3 boxter head 2.7L, I have 4-6 911 head 4.3L. My lifter girdle is missing. I return the next morning, I tell her that i asked her twice do the numbers match. Yes she says, Oh no they dont i say, your mistake i want my money back! Not with out receipt i dont do business like that! I ask can you look for the original for me, i was just here yesterday, Nope she says, i dont care how far you live. You have to pay me for my time to look and i am busy now. But mean while the head i payed for, she has her guy take it in the back and after beating on with a hammer it for a minute, he comes out and gives me my valves, springs,... in a bag, minus one keeper i find out later, I have to drive home wondering what happened to the receipt. Am i going to have to take her to small claims court, good thing i took pictures of the mistake at home, because now i dont have the head i just payed 450 for. she has it and my money. and she has 4 tough guys to keep me in line. i found the receipt on the garage floor. I Was very polite the whole time even after she called me a cry baby and a whiner. I believe she would of kept my money although the mistake was hers. She waved it in front of my face and put it back in her pocket before she sent me away. to look for my receipt. I pulled the head off my 65 Mustang (200 I6) because the valves on cylinder 2 were stuck open. I had read the reviews, so I knew what to expect when I called. She basically said, just come down here. I showed up mid day, there were literally hundreds of sets of heads on racks all over the shop, left the head on the table, she said, "oh Mustang" and to call in the morning. No receipt, no quote, don't worry people. I called the next day and it was ready to pick up. When I showed up, I said "Mustang" and got the head and the bill. Right around $220, looked like new. She told me to "bring in my valve seals" from the gasket set I had, which I gladly did. This is no boutique, it's a machine shop. Rate it as such. read more
