David had us start by turning our house around so that the living areas faced the south-facing garden, phase two saw pretty much the whole back of our house removed, extended and replaced with windows, and phase three is an attic conversion. I now know that employing an architect is incredibly important because their vision takes you outside the box. You don't have to go with everything which is suggested but it allows you to see the extreme possibilities of what your house could be. As far as first experiences go I found the service offered competent, the fee structure and terms of payment were clear and well set out from the start. At times I did feel as though there was a lack of communication and we weren't always clear where the plans stood or the planning application as Mr Nisbet dealt with many of these issues in 'the background'. I'm not sure if I would necessarily use his services again, although I'm fairly sure I would get him to quote for further work I was looking to have done in the future.
