After doing some searching we came across Jennifer on yelp, and we liked what the reviews had to say about her. I normally don't review people but felt compelled as she was a Rockstar, and deserves some spotlight!!! My husband and I talked about how she was knowledgeable and very straightforward. She presented us with options we never knew we could do before. Wish we found her sooner as she made this much more enjoyable than past years tax experiences. We definitely will be going back. After that, he went completely unresponsive--no replies to multiple emails, texts, or calls. I followed up again on April 7 and even the day before the tax deadline. Nothing. Because of his lack of communication, I had to scramble last minute to file an extension and now risk late penalties. This was incredibly stressful and unprofessional. I'm sharing this to warn others--if you're looking for a dependable CPA during tax season, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere.

Majority of my income was coming in under my business with no taxes being deducted so I knew I had to pay. I was pretty sure i was going to owe like 10k :( .. I chose OG bc of the great reviews (thanks yelp!) Before going in I was actually nervous and a bit ashamed bc as an adult I have know idea about taxes yet I decided to elect as an S-Corp lol. Then I finally came in & was seen by Eli. Here are some highlights of my experience: Eli is very knowledgable and is able to explain everything easily so that people like me who feel like taxes are a foreign language can understand. I came in assuming I was going to owe so much bc I had no idea what I was doing or how taxes even worked.. but Eli answered all of my questions with patience even though I know I was probably asking the same question over & over lol. Now for 2019 I will not be stressed! Eli also shed some light on things I had no idea about like how putting money in an IRA can really help to save on how much I owe in taxes, and how I need to go ahead & pay estimated taxes twice a year, and other business related matters that as business owner i needed to know & did NOT beforehand. Before your appointment they give you this great "tax planner".. it pretty much lists out everything that you can & should be writing off on your taxes & allows you to put in the totals. This was so helpful.. it really helps you organize everything. I called with a question & was quickly directed to Eli which was nice bc I thought I was going to have to email or wait for a call back, etc.. Jane at the front desk is also very helpful, polite & accommodating. Overall, I highly recommend. Especially if you have no idea what you're doing bc I know I cant be the only one. I left feeling so much better & at ease after it was all over.

I don't know what it is about accountants or why the profession seems to attract so many characters. I'm just glad after years and years of switching accountants, I've finally found someone that I feel good about sticking with. Despite a career in financial services, I could not be any less interested or engaged in my own personal finances if I tried. I'm a designer by trade; a chef who tastes none of his own food. I'm pretty good at what I do. But when it comes to taxes or being able to answer even the most basic of questions my accountant asks of me, I'm just a complete philistine. I make money. I spend money. And I live by one simple, but very effective rule: don't spend more than you make. The rest I leave up to the professionals. Needless to say, accountants have a lot of fun with me. Michael was no exception. But working with him was such a pleasure. He took all of the pain and agita out of the process with his calm demeanor and super-efficient means of walking us through all the details we needed to know to file an honest and speedy return. There was no dropping off paperwork and coming back weeks later to see if it was done. There was no unnecessary chit-chat or idle back and forth. My wife and I simply came to our Saturday afternoon appointment and were in and out in less than an hour. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Michael's great. I highly recommend.

She agreed and I dropped the documents off with her daughter by her office. She did the returns and contacted me for payment. I Paid her $325 with my credit card. signed the documents online and she filed electronically. A couple of weeks after that, there was a problem with the bank account that I gave her for my refund to direct deposit. The bank said " Your Tax Preparer can make an amendment for you and change it". I reached out to her about this and her response to me was " I did your taxes". Since she wouldn't help me, I worked with the people at the bank to get the matter resolved. I have repeatedly called and asked about my documents and Cherie will not return any phone calls. Around the beginning of May, I got a letter from The State of NJ, Division of Taxation requesting that I send copies of some of the submitted documents like the W-2. I must send the documents before they will send my refund of $6,170. I emailed Cherie a copy of the letter expressing that I need those documents ASAP. I followed that email up with leaving a message for her explaining the issue and she still do not return calls. Although she agreed that she would return the documents to me, I asked when I can come and pick them up. I left messages asking when I can get my documents. No one gets back to me, I'm being ignored.
