I loved the experience of shopping in Turkey in general. Schmoozing...and gentle cajoling was the…read moreway of it. This shop was the best. The jeweler, famously, made much of the jewelry for the movie "Troy" among others. His sons are the "schmoozers" and will charm you in for a visit. One told me their black cat, snoozing in the sun, was named "Mike Tyson" because he beat up all the other cats in the neighborhood (highly unlikely, as kitty was quiet and docile). The jewelry is lovely, and the silver is weighed and you get what you pay for. You may bargain a bit as well. I felt I got a really good deal. Half the fun is talking to the merchants. They brought out the tea and we had a chat while they put a few extra links in the bracelet I bought. During the transaction, I had a bit of a scare, when I couldn't find my credit card and had to depart the shop (turns out later, that it was in the hotel safe). When I returned to buy the bracelet, they gave me an additional discount...and called it the "panic" price...since I had left in such a panic about the missing credit card! I never felt disrespected or pushed into purchasing...just a little charming salesmanship. Fun.
