Having no previous experience of vet care in…read moreCanada nor with an animal with serious illness it is difficult to make comparisons or judgements on the quality of care and treatment. From the first investigations and treatment we were kept fully involved and informed and had an ongoing dialogue with Dr Ghuman who ,when it became evident that further more specialised diagnosis was probably needed ,was able to direct us to a further facility outside of the local area. The subsequent diagnosis and treatment regime were implemented jointly by Peace Arch and Canada Vet West and Dr Ghuman was happy to incorporate and follow treatment advice. This combined approach resulted in our having a few extra months with our cat with a reasonable quality of life .During the whole process the staff were accessible and willing to answer our concerns and could not have been more supportive of our choices in regard to treatment options and were always realistic in presenting likely scenarios whilst not advocating treatments and procedures which would have been very costly and possibly cause more suffering. The treatment involved daily oral medication which at first was difficult but the clinic were happy for us to take our cat there daily initially for help with medication at no extra charge. One veterinary nurse( Taylor) in particular ,was very concerned and supportive to the extent that she regularly checked on progress and in this we felt very supported. When it came time to end the suffering Taylor and Dr Ghuman came to the house and allowed us and our cat some private dignity . They could not have made it any easier for us and for that we are very grateful.

I made a phone call to the clinic wanting to exchange a 3 kg. bag of Royal Canin cat food I had picked up two days prior. The person who answered the phone said she would have to check with the doctor and would get back to me in one to two hours. I made it clear I would pay the difference in price. I also reiterated the bag was unopened and had just been picked up two days ago. No one contacted me so I drove in to the clinic. There was a big notice taped on the front desk stating exchanges of food were permitted within three days and they still went to the back to 'consult' with the doctor??? They wanted to charge me 20% restocking charge but said they would waive it. Again ???? When I was paying the difference I looked up from the pin pad to see the two women were laughing at me because I was frustrated and angry. The one woman with heavy lipstick said 'hurry or it will time out'. She also said I threw the pin pad at her so they decided that they weren't going to give me the exchange and threatened to call the police. For getting angry. There wasn't any name calling or swearing. Difficult to remain calm and polite when they are trying to gouge me. Never, ever going back to that place.

Cuz it would take me 2+ hours to commute in from the other side of BC. I got there with about 25 minutes to spare before closing. Was introduced to my new baby hog and his quirks and personality. And he was super chill just like they said. Poor little guy has been there since Christmas waiting for (me) someone to take him home. While I haven't had hedgies since 2012 I had this longing for another lately so after about a month of procrastination and really it was just tally how much the new guy would run me (as I recently already spent over $500 on fish tank and reptile decor for my "2" very spoiled roborovski dwarf hamsters just less than 5 days ago), and they were nice enough to tell me a free membership gets me almost $40 off so yeah sign me up The assistant store manager was the one that took my call. And she was there waiting for me at 7:30 pm to help me get my new boy packed up for his commute home. I did get my boy settled in nicely. And I hope the lady sees this review. And yes. I WILL BE SENDING THE SURREY LOCATION A BOX OF LINERS AND SNUGGLE SACKS AND OTHER CAGE FLEECE ACCESSORIES LIKE HAMMOCKS FOR THE FERRETS AND RATS. I went to Bosley's only because they were closer to my house...they did not have even one of those foods on that list !! When I went to mother Hubbard's they had six or seven of the foods on that list. They truly carry the healthiest animal food at mother Hubbard's!!! If you love your for babies like I love mine ..do your homework get the right food for them... Mandy is the greatest help in there she's just lovely. She is well informed of all the foods and can answer anything about all of them. Also the owners of the store Tom and his lovely wife are absolute animal lovers as well.
