A very unexpected swanky bar in Floyd,Va. It'll throw you for a loop if you're not ready when you walk in, we were. Think prohibition. The joint takes you into the prohibition era. The staff play into it very well. The bartender was super cool. The lady at the front door stayed in character (so cool). Helpful hint ... buffalo nickel. Once in, it is a super dark and cozy classy place. Great selection of wine and cocktails. Small selection of beer. Had the very tasty Chef burger. The Mango Habanero cheese curds were tasty. A place to go back in time! They are a prohibition establishment theme/vibe. Fun wall decoration and art. Makes you feel like you are on a different timeline. Food was great! We ordered the seared ahi tuna, filets, and ravioli. Everything was delicious and fresh. Id recommend if you are quiet hungry and want to order the ravioli to perhaps order something else to pair with it as it only comes with 4 raviolis. Let's talk drinks. They are seasonal so they had an apple smoked old fashioned which was delicious and a whole experience as they bring it in a container with the smoke in it 10/10 recommend! They have a yummy spicy orange margarita and really good non alcoholic drinks that taste like alcoholic drinks! Service was great! I'm leaving a 4 star rating because I believe this place has potential and I'd really like it to stay open and thrive. The atmosphere here is really cool. Hits a nice sweet spot between the quirkiness of Floyd and the normal classy environment you associate with craft cocktail bars. The decor was maybe a bit kitschy for me, but I believe that's just a personal preference and I could see people really loving that about this place. That being said, our experience was less than great. Service seems a bit stressed. It took us about 30 mins of sitting before getting water or water glasses for instance. Not a big deal, water was delivered promptly after we requested it after we got our drinks. Overall the service was friendly and accommodating though. As far as food goes, we got some cheese curds and they were great. Our biggest issue with this place by far was the quality of the cocktails. I love craft cocktail bars and make a point of visiting a few every time I go to a new city. This place is marketing itself as a craft cocktail bar. The prices make this evident. Prices for cocktails ranged from ~$15 to ~$25. This is at the upper limit of what I see at other craft cocktail bars even in places like New York and San Francisco. It's okay to charge these prices, but you must deliver an authentic craft cocktail experience. The menu was a good start, small but with appealing drinks of all different styles. We ordered a stirred scotch drink for $16 and a stirred cognac drink for $18. I'll start with the cognac drink. They were out of pear liqueur and subbed in all spice dram. It was good, but much too sweet. Serving it in a smoking pipe style glass was gimmicky, but actually a very neat presentation pulled off well. I won't comment on this one anymore since they had to make a substitution. Now for the scotch drink. It has all spice dram and cacao bitters. This is the type of drink that should be very spirit forward (and was marketed as extra boozy). Therefore the quality of main spirit REALLY matters a lot. The first thing I noticed was the taste of bottom shelf scotch. My suspicions were confirmed when I was told they used Dewars white label to make it. This is a sub $25 bottle of scotch in a $16 stirred drink that should really feature a more premium scotch. Even Monkey Shoulder would have been fine. It makes a difference in a drink like this. The menu also implied some "oak smoke" of which there was no detectable amount of. This drink was also much sweeter than it should be. On a menu with ~10 drinks, the people ordering the stirred scotch drink do not want a sugar bomb. The presentation of this drink was also not up to par for a craft cocktail bar charging these prices. The glassware was nice, but the cocktail was not properly stirred/chilled. It was served with a rock candy stick, which was adding more sweetness to an already sweet drink. Worst of all was the tiny cloudy piece of ice in the class. A place that charges this much should have large clear cubes that fill out the glass. This small cube ensured that our cocktail was overdiluted and tasteless in a matter of minutes. I wouldn't be this critical if they weren't charging premium cocktail prices. But they are. I want to see this place succeed and they need to focus on the quality of the drinks to make that happen. read more

Being from New York, I wanted to experience a true speakeasy. If that is what you are looking for, I DO NOT recommend this place. The beginning of the experience was lackluster and then even with reservations we got a rude welcome. The menu was less than impressive and the service was even more disappointing. We were given two different menus, when asking which was correct, our server was rude. When asking for a different server due to our server being rude and absent, we were asked to leave. Lush Lounge was such an unexpected and pleasant surprise in Floyd, VA! As soon as you walk in the door, you are transported back to the 20s (the house itself dates back to the early 1900s). The creativity of the drinks, food, and decor are complemented by the kind, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Special shout out to Chad and Zach for providing such amazing guest service! Fun place- great drinks- food not so much. Love the atmosphere and live music was great. Awesome selection of fun drinks and presentation was equally impressive. Service was lacking as they were short staffed. Food was not good- paninis were burnt and not much taste; fries were good; pasta dish and trout dish were both cold- as if they had been sitting for awhile. So we have been customers of this place for several years now and probably spend $300-500/year there as well as bring friends that do the same. We visited there Saturday night 12/18/21 for the first time in several months to find that several internal changes to the lounge had occurred. The next morning I sent a note via facebook just to let them know that we felt the atmosphere had changed with the addition of the restaurant-style dining tables. I would have thought that most businesses would want to know if changes affected their customer perceptions. Needless to say I was somewhat shocked at the unprofessional response I received from whomever manages their Facebook page. Clearly, someone needs to revisit their Customer Service 101 handbook because without loyal patrons coming into your establishment spending money on the experience and your over-priced cocktails (yes, they are good but $12-25/drink... seriously?), you have nothing and I can assure you we will never step foot in your establishment again. Don't care? Good, neither do we. You need a serious attitude adjustment Lush Lounge management. I have attached the original note and their response to this review... If you happen to read this review, rest assured that Lush will take your money but if you have an issue with your drinks, food or experience, you too will regret ever spending a single penny there. --Update--- If anyone actually cares to read the original note I sent to you which is attached... it's clear that you are now making asinine accusations attempting to paint me as discriminatory because of your inept attempt at customer service. 100% recommend!! We loved this place! The vibe is soooo cool, and the staff are all so friendly and fun. We happened to be there on a karaoke night and Chad did such a great job of facilitating it. Our server Jack even sang a Journey ballad with us! And the guy who was tending bar also did a karaoke number. Such a fun and memorable night! Had a couple different cocktails but my favorite was probably the Chanel No 5. My husband's fav was the Cuban Cigar. The Korean BBQ ribs were so good too! Jason, the Bar Manager, has a story to accompany the the drinks being served. The stories are almost as good as the cocktails! Take your time at Lush as there are 4 different areas to relax in. The different rooms are perfect for relaxing and socializing with friends or for meeting new people - depending on what you're looking for. Once you are welcomed, and figure out which comfortable spot you want to sit, the food and drinks are phenomenal. We came as a group of 4, we all ordered different drinks and they were all delicious. I also loved that they offered (delicious) Non-Alcoholic drinks for those who are driving or just choose not to partake. The chocolate cake is also phenomenal. I had an amazing night with family and friends at Lush. The drinks and food were top-notch and the service was phenomenal. They are taking Covid-19 precautions seriously, and it is the only bar I genuinely trust drinking at in this point in time. The atmosphere was wonderful and it was easy to get lost in the prohibition style of the bar/ restaurant. I will be coming back biweekly, if not weekly for the wonderful atmosphere and company.
