So cool. Something a bit different from the usual. Enjoyed the experience. Would recommend a visit at least once. The Cuban cigar is really good.

It is hard to explain how good the food is here, we are are from Florida and eat sushi weekly and let me tell you the Tuna Tacos are the most unique and tasteful Tuna Tacos we have ever had! We had the Greek Carrasco and Yellowfin Tacos. Love this place, might need to become my regular spot, now that I just moved here.

Aged Old Fashioned and the Blacklisted (truffle-infused scotch cocktail)

Lush Lounge was such an unexpected and pleasant surprise in Floyd, VA! As soon as you walk in the door, you are transported back to the 20s (the house itself dates back to the early 1900s). The creativity of the drinks, food, and decor are complemented by the kind, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Special shout out to Chad and Zach for providing such amazing guest service! Normally we try to avoid repeating food/drink spots when we go on a vacation, but we had such a great time that we came back two nights in a row (after all, we *had* to try more of the menu).

Brand spankin' new speak easy in Floyd county. Awesome "Blind Pig", real, functioning butcher shop store front. Be sure to ask for a "buffalo nickel" to gain entry to the lounge. Excellent top shelf cocktails and light foods.

Simpler Times and Cuban Cigar

100% recommend!! We loved this place! The vibe is soooo cool, and the staff are all so friendly and fun. We happened to be there on a karaoke night and Chad did such a great job of facilitating it. Our server Jack even sang a Journey ballad with us! And the guy who was tending bar also did a karaoke number. Such a fun and memorable night! Had a couple different cocktails but my favorite was probably the Chanel No 5. My husband's fav was the Cuban Cigar. The Korean BBQ ribs were so good too! Will definitely be sending friends here and will return on our next trip this way.

So we have been customers of this place for several years now and probably spend $300-500/year there as well as bring friends that do the same. We visited there Saturday night 12/18/21 for the first time in several months to find that several internal changes to the lounge had occurred. The next morning I sent a note via facebook just to let them know that we felt the atmosphere had changed with the addition of the restaurant-style dining tables. I would have thought that most businesses would want to know if changes affected their customer perceptions. Needless to say I was somewhat shocked at the unprofessional response I received from whomever manages their Facebook page. Clearly, someone needs to revisit their Customer Service 101 handbook because without loyal patrons coming into your establishment spending money on the experience and your over-priced cocktails (yes, they are good but $12-25/drink... seriously?), you have nothing and I can assure you we will never step foot in your establishment again. Don't care? Good, neither do we. You need a serious attitude adjustment Lush Lounge management. I have attached the original note and their response to this review... If you happen to read this review, rest assured that Lush will take your money but if you have an issue with your drinks, food or experience, you too will regret ever spending a single penny there. --Update--- If anyone actually cares to read the original note I sent to you which is attached... it's clear that you are now making asinine accusations attempting to paint me as discriminatory because of your inept attempt at customer service. I sincerely hope that you treat your employees with significantly more respect than you do your customers.

There's shtick and there's food. I personally thought the shtick was silly (though unique) but the food was very good.

This is a sad place. Tiny, food sucks, overpriced and drinks are mundane. Avoid at all costs. Save your money

I have been in many Sports Bars and Lounges, but none of them can compare to The Hangout, which I…read morevisited today for the very first time. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And The Hangout Sports Bar and Lounge in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. Located on Williamson Road, in the Hollins area of Roanoke, Virginia, The Hangout is a sports bar, restaurant, and lounge, with a casual, friendly, and lively atmosphere, offering a mix of food, drinks, and entertainment like pool tables, live music, and karaoke, among others. People gather there for lunch, for dinner, or just to have a drink or two as they spend some time chatting with their friends. I arrived around three o'clock to have a late lunch and visit the place for the first time. The bar was completely full with customers drinking and having fun conversations. Other customers were enjoying themselves playing pool on one of the many pool tables. During the day, customers are welcomed to play pool for free and in the evenings for a small fee. I walked over to the bar counter and asked the friendly bartender, Mitch, if they were still serving lunch and if I could seat at one of the booths. He told me they were and to go ahead and have a seat at the booth of my choice. Soon after he came by with the menu and took my drink order. I asked if he could make me a Piña Colada Mocktail and he did. It tasted amazing. Beside the regular menu they also had an All Day Specials menu for every day of the week from Monday through Friday. To dine I ordered a BBQ Burger from the regular menu. It was served with fries. Meanwhile everytime a customer came in, you could immediately tell he was a regular by the warm greeting he received from the bartender and other customers there. When my server/bartender brought my burger, it looked wonderful. Fresh burger buns with an all beef 1/3 lb burger, topped with white American cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, and onions. I poured some ketchup on it from a squeeze bottle by server had brought me and put on my table. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality of their food. My server introduced me to the owner of the place, Lori, a very warm and welcoming lady who opened this establishment in 2021and since then has made it a very popular place focusing on making it a casual environment and a fun spot where locals and visitors can socialize and have a good time. After all, its slogan, written under its front sign, states: "Good Food, Good People ... Great Times." Featuring a full bar, including draft beers, hard liquor and cocktails, quality comfort food at affordable prices, entertainment such as indoor and outdoor stages for bands to play live music, karaoke, and games like pool and cornhole, and a friendly crew to top it off, the only negative thing that I could find was tight parking, but at night customers can park on the parking lot of the business on their left and in a space across the street. I highly recommend this place for some good times and can't wait for the Spring and Summer to arrive to return with friends and enjoy all the creative things they have to offer.

Andrew the bartender was very proficient and friendly, along with a great, fun Karaoke DJ, Libby! I've also enjoyed excellent Salisbury steak, roast beef, and chicken tenders for lunch, and, I returned for karaoke & dinner. "Ambiance"; this place is relaxing/cozy/comfortable.

Seriously, or nearly so, think how much better, as compared to standard issue childbearing, grafting would work for humans, like first of all no more Lamaze breathing classes for dads (after all of which are done, many moms go for the drugs anyway). then as one generation runs out of things to do in life, rather than uproot the whole parent just insert the next generation into the trunk, thereby hopefully eliminating adolescence when most of the body develops. Fungi and molds are even better as they mature in hours, are much more resilient and easier to distribute plus they're totally anonymous: parents don't have to see how their best intentions didn't bear fruit, and their offspring have no one else to blame. the spores of these life forms are quite durable, even tolerate the conditions found in outer space. Future myco-human lifeforms could be launched by the billions from earth unceremoniously, hoping a few might land somewhere favorable to germinate rather than being sucked into and incinerated by a star. And no alphabet or arithmetic to learn in grammar school. Being a family mammal on the other hand has major downsides. an example being that if you're known to be ever-ready to venture wherever someone will buy your plane ticket, they call upon you to go see how cousin Luke or uncle Amos or whoever is doing. The boring relatives stay put back home but the black sheep migrate over the years to places you would likely not otherwise go. So it is that I was driving through central Virginia on a moonless night, on just such a family mission and frankly need a roadie, a restorative for my lagging spirits, which is why I turned off the state highway and onto a county road to see where it went, and came to this town which is how I happened onto rocky mount's finest establishment, The Alley Cat Bar. It's great to find places like this and is the reason I prefer to drive in unknown territories using old outdated AAA maps instead of gps. Not every side road exit brings you to an historic and quaintly cool town like Rocky Mount, but it's the occasional one that ends in Rocky Mount that keeps you in the wanderlust game. It' was just what I was looking for at this moment, a break from driving the dark rural Virginia roads, local music and a friendly beer crowd. I was ready. Most small towns, not much to do, so can't be too choosey but lucky here to have this place, among others by the way but none so much my kind, live music potentially a little rough around the edges crowd but, after all, it's central va. After being awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants, businesses, and entertainment venues, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Don Ho's Restaurant & Lounge in Hollins, Virginia, is a perfect example. Located off Lee Highway, in Hollins, Virginia, a road less traveled by me, until I decided to take it in search of this gem of a restaurant, which until then I had no idea it existed, even though it has been opened for 25 years. On its parking lot sign it clearly states "Serving The Area Since 2000." From the simple architectural design design of its building and humble entrance, you would never imagine what the inside would hold for you. As I opened the door and walked in, the first thing I saw was a little Christmas tree that you could tell was decorated with lots of love. The reasantly renovated dining room was clean and cozy with a combination of booths, tables and chairs, and some small high round tables with high chairs. In the center of the restaurant was a square counter with the cashier station, the Pepsi products machine, some desserts and Christmas decorations. As I was looking around a friendly and very hospitable waitress welcomed me and said I could have a seat anywhere I liked, handed me a copy of the menu, and took my drink order. I ordered a Pepsi to drink. After returning with my drink, she took my food order. I ordered a cup of their Chili Beans to start off with, and as my main entrée the Half Pound Black Angus Cheese Burger with their special fries. First of all the Chili Beans were amazing. One of the best that I have ever had, and one of my favorite foods. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its food. Then came the burger. It was delicious with fresh soft burger buns and all the toppings a good burger should have. And their unique fries were one-of-a-kind. The waitress came by to check on me at the appropriate times and to provide drink refills. For dessert I had a slice of one of the best Key Lime Pies that I had ever had. The merengue on it tasted like the home-made one my mother used to make when I was growing up. When I was finished, my waitress encouraged me to go take a look at the Lounge in the back room. It was nice, with two pool tables, a colorful lit bar, tables and chairs, booths, large screen tv, and even a small stage. There, besides drinking and eating, you can shoot pool or sing karaoke. Smoking is allowed in the lounge, which has a special ventilation system. However, the restaurant side of the establishment is completely non-smoking. Before leaving I got to meet the owner himself and felt the great attachment he has for his restaurant of many years, for his staff that has been with him for years, for his loyal customers, and for his son and general manager Jo Jo, who is learning all he can from his dad and hopes one day to take over the restaurant and continue the family tradition. As I was leaving, after a very satisfying dining experience, I noticed some Award plaques on the wall. This year 2025, Don Ho's had cleaned up in the Roanoke Times readers awards for best bar, waitstaff, restaurant, burger and best customer service at a restaurant. I highly recommend this one-of-a-kind restaurant & lounge, and who knows, maybe when you go and visit, you'll run into me there, because I definitely am planning to return real soon.
