So many beautiful things. Kaffe Fasset fabrics and watercolors. Fun quilt and clothes patterns. Beautiful silks, wools and cotton material. Embroidery floss, fabric paint, and all sorts of notions. On top of all this, my favorite thing in the world, an owner and staff who love where they work and what they sell. They know what they're talking about when they describe their supplies and were incredibly helpful with problem-solving and idea generation. Never felt like I was being given a pitch or pressured. They only have the best supplies. This is what it takes to make a great store and these people have it in spades. Finally, they have the sweetest dog in all creation (Anna) who loves to be gently pet. So, you can get a little pet therapy while you're there too.

But it's much more than an art gallery. Owners Brian and Stephanie also offer community classes and workshops so that people can find their inner artist / glass nerd and let them roam free! I do not think of myself as a very handy or crafty or artistic person, but I recently had the pleasure of taking a workshop to make "scrappy birds:" stained glass birds that are made out of scraps of glass. I went with my partner, who has been making stained glass art for a number of years (I have never done it before). We both had a good time and learned new stuff! Heather, the teacher, was approachable, knowledgeable and friendly. I learned how to wrap the glass in copper foil, use a soldering iron and attach little legs and a tail to my scrappy birds. Heather took something that had seemed difficult and out of reach and made it understandable. Best of all, I got to take home my glass art birds and hang them in the window, where they catch the light and make me smile. This was a great way to while away a cold and snowy winter night! I'm excited to take more classes there. Perhaps I am crafty after all. :)

The second was a key ring with a metal tag kind of like a thick spoon handle with "Believe Science" stamped on it. I also found a leather bracelet for myself. There were a lot of interesting items in this story including jewelry, hand towels, cards. It was fun to explore. The owner was very friendly and engaging. I'm glad we stopped in and I was able to bring back a piece of Belfast.
