Went to Tiburon for our Anniversary weekend and loved the outdoor seating, with views of SF. The Yelp reviews had me excited for our dinner here. We started the melted Burrata on toast-very good. My wife had the short ribs ravioli's with a mushroom sauce- which she loved( I got one little bite) & I had the beet infused tagliatelle pasta topped with Dungeness crab with a champagne cream sauce- awesome! I was with a group of 9, and we were unfortunately not treated well, considering we spent a large sum on the order. I did not know that this restaurant doesn't book for parties of 9, else I would not have booked here online. I called the restaurant two times, a week or two before the reservation and never heard back from them. On the day of, the hostess was against us merging tables, and didn't provide an explanation (not sure if this was a safety issue or something else). I've been to other smaller restaurants where the restaurant owner does their best given the situation, but I didn't see it happening at Luna Blu. I also got the feeling that we as a group weren't welcome in that restaurant - but I cannot say why. The hostess definitely gave us the cold shoulder. The food was so so, nothing to write home about. The service was prompt and our server was nice and friendly. After we'd paid our check, the hostess politely asked if we were done and when we'd be leaving. I've never had anyone ask me to leave the restaurant. Again, I cannot say why the hostess asked this, but my guess is they had more reservations than they expected or could handle. Here are a few ways the hostess could have handled the situation better 1. Please return your customers calls so that they don't book larger groups here. 2. Have something on your website that you cannot accommodate parties larger than 5 or 6. 3. Politely explain to your guests why you cannot merge tables. I've never had this problem at many other small restaurants, so not sure why yours was different. 4. If there is a limit on how long your guests can stay, please state that on your website. It's very rude to ask people to leave immediately after they've paid for their dinner. Also, we stayed there for less than 2 hours - that's quite normal for anyone eating dinner, especially when we spent a good bit at the restaurant. All in all, this was a rather bad experience I've had at a restaurant. Everybody in my group concurred. I understand restaurants are stressed because of Covid, but treating people poorly is just a personal failing, especially when the whole group was nice and accommodating. Was in the area after a hike. I tried the: 1. Caprese salad - I thought this was pretty good! And I actually don't like tomato. This dish had large pieces of tomato and yet I really liked it! I also don't usually like vinegar but the this was sweet. The dish was delicious. Much better than I anticipated. 2. Crab bisque - also very good! As much as I enjoyed it, I think I liked the lobster bisque that I had at .... in Carmel better. 3. Sunset in tiburon - really strong! This might be because I started drinking it while on an empty stomach but I had most of it with food and I didn't finish the drink because it was so strong. 4. White wine - they are generous with the wine give you a small Karaf which amounts to 1.5-2 glasses of wine. 5. Ciopino - delicious! The seafood was delicious in an amazing tomato soup base. It was delicious. The portions are a good size too; I didn't finish my dish. 6. Tagliolini al granchio - very good. The pasta was pretty chewy. There was also a good amount of crab meat. The service was mixed. The hostess was very nice and did her best to accommodate us. Our waiter wasn't the best. The view from the patio was also a nice touch. TL;DR: Loved the food. Drinks were strong. Definitely a favorite. I will have to come back another time. read more

I'm very thankful that there's still a restaurant with great service, food and scenery during this pandemic! What a beautiful outdoor dining scene. I highly recommend to bring your appetite. The muscles was flavorful and light (minus the bread) while the burrata cheese topped with truffle was on the heavier side. For main entree, we tried the filet mignon which was tender and juicy with potato and Brussels sprouts on the side and the beet tartiolini with fresh crab was creamy but on heavier side. I love this new addition to Tiburon. We discovered Luna Blu after visiting the Renzo restaurant in Palo Alto. Owners Renzo and Crystal are gracious and very welcoming as you enter their Luna Blu restaurant, like coming to dine in their own home. They are very much present wanting to make your dining experience with them as pleasurable as possible. We enjoyed the stuffed pork chop (enough for two!) while my daughter, who loves clams, enjoyed the Linguine Alla Vongole, which had a touch of spiciness. She did complain that it was spicy, but couldn't stop eating it which we thought was pretty funny -- we made sure she had a glass of milk on hand! For appetizer we had the fried calamari which also included some fried pieces of zucchini. I really like the addition of the zucchini and the fried calamari was fresh and really tender. For dessert we shared the Tiramisu and the Sweet Goat Cheese with crisps -- I can't remember the name -- but it was like a deconstructed Cannoli with pieces of candied orange. I LOVED the candied orange and the sweet creaminess of the goat cheese that had mini pieces of chocolate throughout. I literally scraped the plate clean. I think this is a wonderful place to come and enjoy a special occasion, or just have a nice beautiful meal (either dining inside or out on their deck). I don't think this place is racist necessarily I just think the service could be warmer. We were treated kind of snippy too and we're white. That being said they did agree to seat us before our reservation time and gave us a lovely table on the water. Then they put up an umbrella to block the sun that was blinding me. The food was wonderful, I had the portabella mushroom salad and asked for gorgonzola which they happily provided. My boyfriend had the sea bass which was also very good. Personally loved the Mojitos here not sure why. The food here is okay could improve. The workers are super nice specially our waiter since I am half Mexican I felt like the communication with them was so much better and felt super welcomed because we shared the common language of Spanish. Visiting Luna Blu was an "on a whim" trip, since we just happened to be in the area. How could you not seek out a seafood place? We were worried that a Sunday evening might be too packed, but a quick phone call assured us we could walk right in. Sure enough, no wait at the door even though the restaurant was pretty busy. It's quaint, a small long dining room with a kitchen running the length of it. The patio is right on the harbor, with an awesome view of SF and the gentle sounds of lapping water. Plenty of heat lamps to keep you warm, and definitely worth it for an evening. I ordered the cioppino. I'm always in search of an awesome cioppino, to compare it to the best one I've ever had. I'll give this a 3.5/5 compared with the best, but a 4 overall. It was a little fish-heavy, which I always consider to be a cop-out. The flavor was tasty though. A fair amount of garlic bread to sop up the yummy. We also had the fried calamari, which came in a marinara sauce that was really very tasty. Wish there was a little more for the price, but they tasted fresh! I'd give them a try again for sure. The environment alone is worth the visit. read more

I was SO excited to eat here considering the reviews and it's on the water, I'm a sucker for restaurants with a great view. That's basically where the two stars are coming from. The hostess at the front looked like she hated her job, wasn't friendly at all and rushed to our table and just set the menus down and walked away. We were sat and it took a while for anyone to come take our drink order finally we ordered them and they came pretty quick. We then ordered our food and waited almost 40 mins for our meal when we were one of three tables there. Food arrived and presentation was nice but portions were ridiculously small for the price we are paying... We asked for only rings on the calamari and instead of compensating by adding more rings for taking out tentacles we just got half the portion for $15, 4 raviolis and a plate of oil for over $20? The bacon and eggs were like two eggs and a few pieces of bacon, chicken was a flat piece of cutlet and the Kobe steak was the only decent portion but still over priced. With 4 meals and 4 mimosas our cost us $174! What a waste to still be hungry after! The places I could go with that money and be satisfied would feed me for a week! Service was decent, our server was actually nice and very efficient with asking if we were ok and needed anything. Overall, view was good although blocked by another restaurant but food wasn't worth the price. read more

The location was great and the ambience was perfect, however the hostess came off as snotty and not very friendly. Tall, skinny, hair up lady. We ate outside on the deck which was very nice....then came the food. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, salad and soup. The food was very bland and when I asked for a slice of bread or a roll for my soup I was told they charge additional. Really? The Cesar salad was good though. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed for the price, I won't be back nor will I recommend this place. However I will be back to Tiburon and look forward to trying another restaurant. read more

This restaurant has a great location with a deck right on the water. I had the chicken Caesar salad with fries and a mojito. The salad dressing was strong, and unfortunately the chicken was quite dry that it often felt like I was choking it down. The mojito was too strong for my liking--my least favorite I've ever had. But the fries were good! They were hot and crispy. My fiancé had the mezzalune di ricotta e spinaci and loved it, although the portion size is on the small side. He also had a Bloody Mary and loved that as well. I personally would not return based on my experience, but giving it four stars for my fiancé's food and the location. read more

This place is pretty small so make sure you have a reservation as I hear they get packed quickly. To me nothing more relaxing than hearing waves break 10 feet from where you are sitting on the lovely covered heated patio. We had the Burrata Al Tartufo, Cioppino, brussels with pancetta and a side of linguini. The service was outstanding as was the food. Cioppino was loaded with beautiful seafood and the broth was amazing. I know everyone's been fancying up Brussels sprouts for a while now, but I am here to tell you these were the best ever! So delicious has me picking around the bowl looking for additional pieces of Pancetta!I wanted to try so many things on the menu! So little time. Owner Crystal and Luna Blu went above and beyond to create a wonderful anniversary experience for my wife and me this past Saturday. Though we had not reserved an outdoor table (due to COVID, we are still not comfortable eating indoors at restaurants), Crystal was able to make it happen 10 minutes before our reservation time, and even though it was her night off with family, she contacted the maitre'd to let her know we would be there (and 10 minutes late). We had a wonderful meal under the moonlight, with great support by our server Michaela and a comped dessert as an anniversary gift. With all that has been happening during the pandemic, we understand when a restaurant's service isn't at its normal standards, but we were grateful that Luna Blu excused our lateness, was able to accommodate our outdoor seating preference, and provided us with such great food (mar e monte pasta, cioppino, and profiteroles). I had (forgot the name) a beet pasta with crab creamy sauce and it was 10/10 amazing. I was blown away by how good of pasta it was. the calamari with zucchini was super good as well, not chewy at all but very fresh, crunchy, and hot. We were referred here for dinner by Evelyn, the proprietor of the Local Spicery. Wow, were we ever satisfied! I wasn't able to load the reservation page on my phone so I called to make a reservation. Left a message and Crystal called me back immediately and worked us in, on a Saturday night! The restaurant was super clean, outdoor dining space was immaculate. Crystal herself greeted and seated us. Service was casual but attentive. Fresh Ciabatta rolls were addictive. Crab Bisque was the best we've ever had. Portobello and Arugula salad was fresh and vibrant. Wife said her Eggplant Parmesan was fantastic, I especially admired the sauce work. I had the Breaded Chicken Breast topped with Peas and Cream Sauce, also excellent. Canoli's and a Tiramisu for dessert. Food coma followed while we sat by the fire pit at our hotel. Even if we enjoyed this dinner in a non-pandemic situation, this was still one of the best dining experiences we've had. With all of the work-arounds they have to adhere to for public health, they did an absolutely amazing job. And the view of the marina is just beautiful. Can't recommend this place enough.
