From Momming With Jesus, Sunday service online, Rooted and Radiant seminar for women, Women's conference, Ladies Night, Mens Night, podcasts, YouTube channels, merch I LOVE being seen in, welcoming atmosphere no matter when you show up. This church is the best I've ever attended. Everyone is welcome. There is no "fire and brimstone" as in many other christian churches. There's always someone happy to see you. Your "fake-it-till-you-make-it smiles" quickly turn into REAL smiles. Pastor Homer has been through some stuff. That's a major deciding factor for me. I truly believe, you can't help someone go through the worst moments in their lives if you've never been through some stuff in your past. He's energetic without being in your face. And he also works in Recovery centers. She's cute and fun and inspiring. The entire church is ready to welcome all with open arms. While they do not have a brick and mortar standalone church, the dance space they inhabit on Sundays is perfect. From set up to teardown, EVERYONE helps. Even the kids help. (And they WANT to!) THIS is the family you've been looking for. We are waiting for you, with our hands extended, to join us all on our journey to forgive, serve and love. Join online to check it out, come for the family (and snacks ) you won't regret it.

My intention in sharing this is to encourage open dialogue about these matters and ensure that…read moreindividuals are making informed decisions about their spiritual and personal well-being. I would like to bring to your attention an experience I recently had involving a church leader. I met an Apostle from a non-denominational church named Kevin Duhart. Recently, my niece was engaged this past Saturday in San Antonio, Texas. This was my first occasion to meet her boyfriend's family and members of The Rock Church, San Antonio, TX. I am concerned about Apostle Kevin Duhart's involvement in family matters, especially considering he has only known my niece for approximately six months. It appears that he has become engaged in issues that are personal and private, which I believe is inappropriate for someone in his position. It is important to remember that, according to biblical principles, an Apostle should respect personal boundaries and avoid interference in family dynamics without proper context or relationship. I am also concerned that this involvement may be influencing my niece's perception of her family, potentially leading to misunderstandings or disrespect. It is troubling to see a leader inserting himself into situations where his understanding is limited. Furthermore, I have observed some patterns in non-denominational churches where vulnerable individuals find themselves susceptible to external influences. I am concerned that my niece's recent changes may not be entirely positive. I question whether the teachings being promoted align with the core principles of the Bible, and I have concerns about how resources are being used within the church. It appears that some practices may resemble cult-like dynamics, which warrants careful consideration. I am curious as to the motivations behind a parent, attempting to cause division between a mother and her daughter. I acknowledge that my niece is currently stationed alone in San Antonio without family support due to her military service. However, it is inappropriate and unacceptable to overstep boundaries and assume the role of my niece's mother.Hope Williams, I find this behavior deeply concerning. I understand that you have male children, and perhaps your intentions stem from a desire for a daughter; nevertheless, insinuating that my niece should see you as her maternal figure is entirely inappropriate and uncalled for. Furthermore, involving my niece in activities that exclude her biological mother is inappropriate and raises questions about the values being modeled. Does this align with Biblical teachings? Hope Williams, how can you justify such actions? You present yourself as righteous and as a child of God, yet these actions seem contrary to those principles. Does the Bible support one woman influencing or molding another woman's daughter in this manner? I am concerned that this church may be fostering a cult-like environment. Regarding Apostle Kevin Duhart, I believe his actions are misguided. To publicly preach about family and love while engaging in actions that fracture a family is troubling. Shame on both of you, Apostle Kevin Duhart and Hope Williams. I trust that, in time, God will address these matters. As an Apostle and a mother, I pray that God will guide and correct these behaviors swiftly

I was a member of Mission Point Christian Church (MPCC), which is formerly known as the San Antonio…read moreInternational Church of Christ (SAICOC), from April 20, 1997 to May 2016. This church changed their name after the Henry Kriete letter came out in 2003. I started attending when I was 19 y/o and left at 38 y/o. I recall being young and idealistic about changing the world and San Antonio for Christ. Kip McKean was leading the ICOC movement and Peter & Karen Veloz were the Evangelist & Women's Ministry Leader at the time. There were amazing days of evangelizing and sharing my faith with many students from SAC, TX State Univ, and UTSA. We studied the bible and baptized many people from 1997 till 2002. We had "Special contributions" which were to get more leaders and to plant more churches. We believed that we were the one true church and movement of God that were truly making disciples of Jesus. We believed all the other churches outside of ICOC/MPCC were lukewarm and filled w/ false doctrines. How arrogant right? But I didn't snap to this arrogance until I was 38 y/o, almost twenty years later. In 2015, I read the Henry Kriete letter and started questioning some of "community standards" and Man-made rules MPCC/ICOC had created to keep control over us the "sheep" or "flock". Some of the rules are: 1.) I could only date the women that attended MPCC or in ICOC. Dating anybody outside of this congregation meant I was dating someone that wasn't saved. 2.) I had to meet the "community standards" which were to attend every meeting of the body, Sunday, Wednesday, and a Small Group/Bible Talk every week. 3.) Every member has to volunteer or participate in the Kid's Kingdom ministry (Like your voluntold!). 4.) Your called to give your tithe and also to contribute to Special contributions. Sometimes "Special" means 12x - 22x your tithe to give to raising of staff, African missions, or young interns. 5.) Everyone goes through the bible study series and you make a decision to be baptized after you complete the study series! There is no "praying Jesus into your heart" even if your sincere about it. What I realized as an immature 38 y/o adult because your treated like a child, is that this group is insulated and extremely tight knit. Everyone knew my business like a small town knows it's people's business. The leaders know everything that is going on because no one knows how to keep a secret even me. I was closer to this church than I was to my own family. I also realized that I was a people-pleaser by nature and wanted to please "leadership" instead of God. There came a point when I was going to get married and I couldn't decide for myself whether or not to get married. I later realized my time in this church had not matured me, but kept me as an immature man because I didn't make decisions for myself. I was always asking for "advice from Leaders" like I was told by my leaders. I don't regret my time in this church because I have some dear friends because of my involvement w/ this church. I learned how to study my bible in this church, but I also learned how Christians can become legalistic like the Pharisees in the New Testament. I was taught a lot about human effort and "What can you do for Christ?" The leadership of this church will harp on "Go make more disciples, go make more disciples!" Like I can really make a disciple. "You plant the seed, you water it, but God makes it grow". They don't recognize any other church body outside of their walls as a saved congregation. When I left this church after 19 yrs. of servitude, I was told that I fell away from God and lost my membership. I lost my friends and the community that I had built up there for 19 yrs. How do I know all of this? Because I lived it! I had to start all over again! Many people have been spiritually harmed by the current leadership of this church. When you look around and all you see are young people at this church, turn around and run for the door! All the older people were wise enough to leave. Look up the ICOC and read all of the testimonies of former members. Good luck in deciding where you go to worship God! I pray you find a healthy church that teach and model Grace and Love. Victor M. Reyes - Former ICOC member. 07/22/19.

Anyway, there will likely be a learning curve. The campus is quite far from us, so we watched their services and podcasts online for a few weeks before deciding to make the drive to visit in person. Church is always better in person. We were welcomed warmly (not overly/fakely so but just enough), and we were given information on small groups which will be key for connection and discipleship. Pastor Ed and his wife Stephanie seem deeply rooted in and passionate about teaching the Word, and their love for each other and the flock appears genuine.
