Like most people who are about to sink a good fortune into a piece of jewelry, I wanted to find a company that I felt would take as much care and attention into the planning, design, and crafting of an engagement ring as if it were for their own significant other. At the same time, I didn't want to feel like I was getting taken advantage of or ripped off with egregious pricing or poor quality craftsmanship. After much stress and deliberation in finding a trustworthy and reputable custom engagement ring designer in Vancouver, I decided to go with Luksus Diamonds at the recommendation of a friend. I am so happy with the decision and result that I felt like I would be doing others a disservice if I were to not write a detailed review. Hopefully this will help others in their search for a company worthy of their hard earned dollars. Throughout the whole process, Adam was extremely meticulous, transparent, and professional. From the initial consultation, Adam helped put my mind at rest by explaining their whole process from where they source their diamonds to how they design the ring and who they use for the actual fabrication. I told him about a ring that my fiancée tried on and absolutely loved in hopes that they could design a ring that would be close, if not exactly like it. He reassured me that they could make the ring nearly identically to the one I had in mind and even make my own improvements, if I wanted. Once I decided to move forward we began the search for the diamond. Luksus' website conveniently lists their entire diamond inventory, which I found really useful in finding the ideal diamond within my budget. I was also able to compare their pricing to other diamond brokers and online retailers (again, transparency!) so I was confident that I wasn't overpaying. Once I had a few options picked out, I met with Adam to go over them. To my amazement, he brought me back down to earth and helped decide on a diamond that would be unnoticeably different from the others and quite a bit less expensive (hey, more money for the wedding!). We ordered the diamond and when it arrived they had me come in again to look at it under the microscope and ensure everything was good, as well as match the serial number to the GIA report. Once they started working on the actual design of the ring, they sent a few CAD drawings that helped me visualize the shape, angles, and ratios based on the measurements of the diamond I picked out. This was really useful and I was able to make a few customizations to make the ring exactly what I had envisioned. Adam also suggested a couple of minor tweaks to make the prongs more secure and the shape more elegant than the original ring it was being designed after. So far so good, but I was still pretty nervous about seeing the final product and whether it would live up to my high expectations. I honestly had nightmares about it not turning out! When I went to pick up the ring I was blown away by how it turned out. They captured everything I had asked for and it turned out even better than the one I was modelling it after. Out of all my research and meeting with online vendors like James Allen, major retailers ie Birks, Tiffany, Lugaro, Peoples, Michael Hill, Cartier and Anne Louis and many local jewelers in Victoria B.C, I found Luksus to be the most up front, honest, and knowledgeable diamond and engagement ring people out there. When it comes to high end retail ie Housing, Automotive, and jewelry, out of all the salespeople that I have dealt with Andrew and Adam are the most down to earth and trustworthy I have met. It is very obvious after you meet with them that what they want is your Engagement ring purchase experience to be one of a kind and stress free. In my experience, Andrew even tried to get me to go for a "cheaper" diamond because he said that only a trained gemologist with a loup would be able to tell the difference. If he wanted to up sell me he could have easily because I had the budget for it, but he didn't and he wanted to make sure that I was getting the best bang for my buck. It was an absolutely "no-pressure" situation which was great when making such a big purchase. We originally contact Adam in January 2014 but plans changed and we would not be ready to make a decision until the Spring.
