On the main street of Francisco Bilbao, Emporio Orgánico & Natural is slightly hidden in the inside of a large lot. You might walk right past it, but turn around as you don't want to miss what they have to offer. Although you can order your products and get them delivered, the fun part about this small shop, is to be able to see the variety they have - you might not even know something exists that you *needed* These owners are very eco-conscience and try and educate their visitors and clients about sustainability when they can. They also promote other workshops and organic movements. Emporio Organico & Natural has some great organic delicacies such as organic raw cocoa butter and powder (!!), food grade oils such as almond oil, apple cider vinegar, any type of butter you could think of (cashew, peanut, almond, pecan...), rare spices, ah the list goes on! Another important thing to mention is that their prices are somewhat expensive so it is good to buy your essentials that you can find anywhere else. Tip: Bring your own reusable bag when coming here! Not all of their products are organic, so make sure you ask which ones are (if it doesn't say on the box).

Everything was really lacking flavor. We were thoroughly disappointed. Also, the portions were so small we all had to go eat something else afterward. Plus, the owner is super nice and eager to help you pick the right products for your specific needs such as lactose alternatives, gluten-free options, kosher products etc. The best thing is they offer a wide variety of gluten-free products such as cookies, pastas, breads, crackers - even flour alternatives! Between the owner and large variety of products, it was hard not to buy from them. Although I didn't need anything, I bought some caffeine-free, organic and eco-friendly tea. I am drinking it now while writing and am super happy to have come across this new (they are about to celebrate their first birthday) organic store. PS. I just went onto their site and it looks like they have a couple of promotions. It is one of the only small shops that has things like organic quinoa, maki, coconut oil, and lots of all natural cosmetics. They also have coconut water, all natural yogurts, and a wide assortment of healthy snacks. Punto Saludable reminds me a lot of all the health food stores I miss back home. The only downside is that it is super super super expensive. It is great if you go in once or twice a month to stock up on quinoa or other things for your pantry, but watch out cause it is really easy to go overboard and over your budget. However it is small and locally owned so at least you can feel good about buying sustainably and supporting the community.

Although there are a couple of other organic/veggie stores close by Punto Saludable differentiates themselves by packing their small store with more than the average organic nuts, tofu and fruit selection of many. They offer gluten/dairy/soy free rice pasta, as well as lasagna sheets ($3590 CLP for a large box). They also sell gluten free rice and flax bread! They have 2 kinds fresh tofu, huevos de campo/free range eggs and sell all natural Pucara (local Chilean farm) yogurt for 2.000 per liter (seriously cheap!), along with pajaritos (the mother) to make your own yogurt at home. They also have natural food grade oils such as the all-purpose coconut oil. They also sell unsweetened (boxed) almond milk for 3 mil/liter. The best part is, from what I've seen, they are about half the price of other health food stores like Planta Maestra. The owners are super nice and friendly and will help you with answering questions and finding what you need. They even have a suggestion book for things they should carry!
