Online, there is more information. Luke Livingstone Macassey was a prominent Irish civil engineer and barrister known for his important contributions to public health in Northern Ireland. Born in Carrickfergus, he studied engineering in England and Belfast before becoming a consultant engineer in Belfast in 1871. Macassey is most recognized for his work on improving the water supply in Northern Ireland, which significantly improved public health and sanitation. Furthermore, he was a visionary who proposed the first direct train link between Scotland and Ireland. His contributions to engineering and public health continue to be recognized and celebrated.
