Went there for the first time last friday night. It's neither delicious nor authentic. We ordered singapore noodle (taste exactly like chow mein), and malaysian beef combo, which came with an egg drop soup- the soup looks like concentrated urine. The appetizer (free with cash, which a mean for them to earn money without having to pay credit card company OR the IRS) was fried wonton- has a dib of meat in it that is smaller than the fingernail of baby. The malaysian beef was basically a plate of salt and the fried rice has absolutely no taste what soever. Overall, I suppose this is what you get for fast food-chinese style in ann arbor now a days. It's a shame that it occupies the North campus shopping strip, because an asian venue such as the Cardamon can go so much further. Shame on the owners of this place who are making money of the students, seriously, they are not even trying. read more

Greasy food. Some dishes especially the ones involving shrimp are just outright rubbish. Uncooked shrimp, uncooked vegetables - absolutely terrible. Delivery to the neighboring street takes forever. Just not worth it. And they are just plain rude sometimes read more

Ordered from the Plymouth Rd. store for the last time last night: was definitely a mistake. Chicken is rubbery beyond belief. A Pink Pearl eraser has about the same texture. The wide noodles in my entrée (Lucky Her Fun was no fun) were barely cooked and almost as rubbery as the chicken. The spring rolls were dripping with grease too. Positively disgusting. It's really surprising that with the high Asian population in Ann Arbor (especially on the north side) you can only get decent Chinese food from one place, and it's DEFINITELY not Lucky Kitchen! read more

This place is filthy and the food is NOT good. It is cheap Chinese food and that's all. Nothing but corn starch, grease, and low quality products. Don't even get me started on the rice. I kid you not it is low quality rice that my relatives feed to their dog because it is so cheap and low quality. Last time I was there the two whites ladies behind the counter were not friendly and after they gave me and my boyfriend our food they sat down near us and talked about how a co-worker of theirs smelled like and I quote "morning breath and a wet dirty mop". I've been getting Lucky Kitchen pretty often for my three years I've spent here in Ann Arbor, but tonight will be my last. I have been waiting 2.5 hours for my order. I've called three times and they have said the driver is on the way each time. It is a Saturday night and I am trying to go out and this is actually ruining my night. Don't know when it will actually come. It's mediocre at best food but I get it cause the dinner combos are well-priced. Never ordering here again. As a New Yorker I do not tolerate waiting for a time like this and their lack of understanding on the phone makes me sure I will never go here again. read more

Grabbed an almond chicken entree for a quick bite before night shift. It was a lot of food for 6 bucks. The food came out fast and as expected. Just adequate enough for that $6 price tag. There are better, cheap Chinese take-out places in the area, but I only come here because it's closest. read more

Lucky Kitchen is my favorite Chinese takeout place in Ann Arbor. Granted, maybe it's not super "authentic" or anything, but it tastes good, is pretty cheap, and has good service. I highly recommend the Crispy Duck and pretty much any of the appetizers, especially the fried wontons and the spring rolls. I'm sad they closed their central campus location, but I live on south campus and they still manage to deliver pretty fast (almost always within an hour, often half an hour on off-peak times). Just received our order and it was aeh, ok. I had egg foo young and this is the first time I have had this where it was tasteless and bland. Another coworker ordered chicken lo mein and the noodles were not rice noodles but regular pasta noodles. Another coworker had Mongolian beef and she said it was bland also. Tonight I was disappointed with the food from Lucky's. I ordered rice, lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. They got both my rice and lo mein orders wrong and the chicken was so soggy and watery that I couldnt eat it. I wont be ordering from here again. read more

I ordered the BBQ chicken lo mein for lunch and it was mediocre. I don't really write reviews and I know I've had decent food there before. But there was no flavor and I really didn't even want to finish it because it just tasted like spaghetti with some flavorless chicken and a couple vegetables sautéed in some oil. I ordered the lo mein, rangoons and vegetable egg roll. I will say the rangoons were good but the rest was not good at all. The lo mein was pretty much spaghetti noodles with not much flavor. The egg roll was really doughy and greasy! I paid around $20 and it wasn't worth it. read more

My family and I went to Lucky Kitchen to get some lunch. We are not happy. The menu is confusing as there are dishes listed everywhere - on the walls, taped on the counter, etc. The service was confused constantly and it took a good thirty minutes before our order came. When we opened the takeout bag we were mildly shocked because we weren't sure if this was our order or not. Never have I seen a "sweet and spicy pork" come in about six fried doughy puffs with no sauce. I still question whether what i ate today was actually sweet and spicy pork. Although at first impression, this place seems a bit run down, the food here isn't half bad. For the price, you get quite a bit of food, and the service is pretty friendly. I did have to wait a while for my food to arrive, and the place is not the cleanest, but overall, it wasn't that bad. I would recommend getting the food for delivery, though, because it's pretty cramped, even though they have outdoor seating, and they take a while to remove plates from tables. I'll definately get food here again, but probably as carry out or delivery. read more

I ended up going here for the first time the other night for takeout. Amazingly, this is actually the first Chinese restaurant that I have patronized since moving to AA last year. I used their online coupon to order a large General Tso chicken combo with an order of crab cheese as well. It ended up being around $16.00 total. It wasn't nearly as greasy as the hole-in-the-walls my dad and grandpa used to order from throughout my childhood, but I won't hold that against them. Lucky Kitchen is a pretty decent value overall. The prices were pretty reasonable and the portions were generous. I ended up eating my order over the course of three days. It's definitely not a place that I would go to for a sit-down meal with there being limited seating, but they're definitely a good option for takeout. read more

Took two bites of my food and decided not to eat another. My husband and I decided to give it a try when the place we wanted to try was too busy. I ordered Sichuan beef with fried rice and wonton soup. The wonton was ok but kind of bland, but my main dish made me lose my appetite. The beef was doused in a sauce that was from a can and tasted nothing like what it should have. It was vinegary and salty. The fried rice was really steamed brown rice that was cold and had a couple frozen peas in it. It tasted like it was left in a cooler to absorb every nasty smell imaginable. read more

Placed over a $100 order to be delivered to the U of M The menu clearly reads lunch special includes soup or egg roll. Several times I stated "egg roll" with lunch combo and she said yes!! When we did not receive our egg rolls or soup she informed me that she took it upon herself to give us coke. Those of us that asked for coke PAID for coke. We did not accept, choose, nor were we informed that the cokes we ordered were in place of soup or egg roll. It clearly states egg roll or soup! Not egg roll, soup, or coke. When this was addressed she said "ha-ha" you can order egg rolls and pay for them. Well needless to say they will never receive a large order from our unit ever again. In addition, we later were informed and read their most recent health inspection. This certainly solidifies us never ordering from this establishment again. This is what people are talking about when they talk about typical 'American' Chinese food. We ordered wonton soup, fried rice, and spicy eggplant. The wontons were sub-par: doughy & not cooked through and I could not have told the difference between the 'lo mein' (packaged separately: ?) and spaghetti noodles. The fried rice was greasy. The eggplant was a little better and the best dish was the plain rice that came with our order. In short, If you have eaten Chinese food anywhere where there is a sizable Asian population (e.g., Chicago, New York, Vancouver, or Seattle) do yourself a favor and give this a pass. Been going there for years. There are a few dishes there I enjoy, and those are the ones that I keep going back to. I had the Mongolian Beef last night and it was delicious. The beef was tender and had no fat or gristle. The sauce was also very tasty and the portions very large. I do not frequent Chinese restaurants very often, so it is impossible for me to compare it to other restaurants in the area. Many years ago I tried the Evergreen restaurant and had a chicken dish that was fried, and it tasted like fish. Ever since then my Chinese take outs have come from Lucky Kitchen. Their hot and sour soup, seems to have medicinal qualities during those times when I am sick with the flue. read more

I've ordered from Lucky Kitchen on many occasions. Normally the food is good. But, they have serious issues with their delivery people. Employing people who cannot speak or understand simple english is a big detriment to their business! Their best delivery guy is John. He is polite and gets the job done well. Even though the food quality is very average, for $6 lunch combos and $9 dinner combos, this place offers very generous portions leaving you very full and satisfied. The food is far from authentic, but considering it's Ann Arbor, this is probably as good as it will get. Also, I would be wary about doing take-out around midterm/finals time.
