I've been dropping off my various donations here over the years. They take most items and give you a receipt if you ask for one. They are always super nice and helpful getting all my box's out of the car. While driving into the lot I noticed a plaque with a dedication name for the 805 freeway. It was dedicated in 1981 to Jake Dekema. He served California as the Director of Transportation for 25 years. I'm currently staying at the door of Hope I've been on the coordinated entry system for 2 years of…read morethat 2 years I have been removed as inactive five different times I've had two housing referrals go completely ignored and I have screenshots to prove it I have had no case management since July and they tried to lock the doors on me but I made them go through the legal process because they cannot just lock a door on somebody after I've been living here for a year and a half I have a terminally ill husband and two small children at Christmas time they intentionally left my kids out of getting toys donated not coming from their pocket and they didn't tell me until the 18th of December so that I couldn't sign up for anything else because it was too late so every kid in the apartment got a toy but mine and I have an email to prove the director saying that it's not her problem today I am adamantly looking for low-income housing for my family and I'm calling everything that I put my cell phone waitlist-wise and three different apartments have told me that they sent me letters to this address and that they were to return to sender I've also had my public housing email sent back I've had my IHSS mail return to sender I've had my bank returned to sender. When I address the situation all they tell me is my bad human error I've been on the CBS news I've gone to the department of Justice the housing commission HUD the mayor city councilman the director the director of homeless services for salvation army San Diego. They've denied my housing referrals that come to me from the city because I have to go through case management to get them they're refusing to case manage me but refusing to take their name off of my case so I can have another case manager their intentionally sabotaging me so that I'm left to go nowhere but the street. Everybody donates and everybody thinks these places are so great and holy because their churches no they're the biggest crooks we don't get anything I've never been given a blanket a T-shirt nothing from this place no food I do everything myself they charge me rent on top of that even though my husband is 24-hour care dependent I'm not allowed to have a respite worker come in I'm not allowed to have help with my kids nothing so I am left to my own with no help and then they have all these requirements that they want you to complete but they don't do anything to help you. Just the fact that they would leave an 8-year-old and a 10 year old out of Christmas and make them witness every other child get gifts but them tells you exactly what kind of people these are Heather St Aimee Maria Trullio Leslie and Megan these are evil vindictive crooks. They have no good intention the only time they're nice to people that live here is when the donators come and feed us at Christmas time or Thanksgiving if you get invited they'll be nice to you at that time but that time only. Today I finally got the opportunity to check out the campus and then attended the 11:00 a.m. Sunday church service. I liked Horizon very much--the congregants seemed friendly and there were good vibes. I do not want to compare it to the church I usually go to, as far as the worship music goes. My preference is for a flashier rock music worship which gets me more in the mood for some good sermonizing. Horizon's is a very basic set-up, with a singer who plays the electric piano and a lady cellist. Nice but I need more pizzazz. Deduct 1 YELP STAR. The best part of Horizon: Mike MacIntosh. Pastor of Horizon for 36 years & just the right amount of Bible-thumping mixed in with some funny asides and personal family notes. I love that immediately we turned to Romans 8 and got right into the scriptural readings. After a prayer and amen, the Pastor read a few passages and then immediately explained what they meant to the congregation. Now this is not something all that unique, but some churches will open up the Bible, read one verse, and then the Pastor will pontificate ad nauseum the rest of the service. No, I want to get some book learning done on Sunday mornings. Breaking down Romans 8 into digestible passages and then doing explanations and some historical asides thrown in for good measure made for a perfect lesson in what Paul was actually trying to to say to the Romans regarding spiritual man versus sinful man. Could be that Pastor Mike was trained up in the Calvary Chapel method and that might account for a more literary reading of the scriptures. Next week for Easter, Pastor MacIntosh will be holding services outside in the Quad area. I think that should be nice since I noticed that the Horizon Church area is really just the school gymnasium decked out on Sunday with a stage and a mic stand. It was disconcerting listening to the sermon and looking up above for some heavenly guidance only to see basketball nets hoisted above the gathered pious crowd of Clairemont worshipers.

If you are not versed in finances you are literally screwed. Stop following people when they go to Albertsons. It's creepy! AsF! I always looked over my shoulder when I left campus. Also the staff members will literally end up where you are going, bcuz they take back roads. It's EXTREMELY creepy and unsettling. The people in the program are not too nice ..they believe the gossip that goes around that place. They will clique up against you and talk smack. Go to your social media and take screenshots of your posts in order to start drama. Do I think this place has value? No not at all. Instead of kicking said staff member out, she was allowed to stay in the same dorm with me where the abuse continued. Towards the end of my stay there she finally ceased. Very organized and helpful staff. The food provided is plentiful, with canned goods and fresh fruits and vegetables. The canned goods are varied and offer many options for a meal. Wonderful service for the local seniors. To enter the line for pickup, forms on Park Avenue, turning right after the American Legion. Use caution when waiting and follow the directions of the staff carefully. The food provided is free of charge when you qualify.

Once you check in, they ask for your last name and you enter the room and sit there for the brief orientation. The day I came to volunteer, they started about 15-20 minutes late. This volunteer shift was only 2 hours. It was an assembly line and it was a lot of fun but very very fast pace. I appreciate the big fan because it got hot quick. I did get a cut on my finger and was able to take a short break to put a band aid on it. Everyone there was nice. Once the volunteer shift is done, they will tell you how many boxes of food was filled. And that day, we did 600 boxes! Whenever I'm back in town, I will volunteer again!
