MC's = LUCHA Audience = VaVOOMMMMM!!!! Finally, yes finally I have arrived and will not turn back. I've been wanting to come forever and never knew someone wanting to go , I have met that person and we will be coming back often. I can't even begin where to start.. Just from the ease of parking $10.00 across the street To waiting in line for will call ( easy breezy) To all the eye candy and muscle cars parked up front to the mariachi's playing... all my favorite things wrapped into one event and that's just outside waiting to get in. Obviously I'm in heaven now so throw some Lucha Libra wrestling and mixed it up with some very sexy ladies baring down to just g-strings and nipple tassels and you have LUCHA VaVOOM! If you want to be where all the action is I suggest you buy ringside seats, but beware a midget chicken wrestler will be thrown into the audience. I had soda for the evening, but fully stocked bar, well stock of merchandise and for a decent price If the entertainment isn't enough, the crowd is entertaining in itself I enjoy especially the fact you can mingle with the wrestlers I had me a Dirty Sanchez

Took my hunny here for Valentine's and WOW! I hit the nail on the head with this one. Lucha Vavoom is everything! Starting with Bruce who just facilitated my special needs due to a temporary disability and went above and beyond. What to expect: Great vibe! Great drinks!!(the bartenders don't hold back) A bit of a line prior to entrance, but quick and way worth it...come early! (6pm). Great (mixed) crowd. Great view (no matter where you are). Yes, you may end up standing but you've stood longer at your local bar. The show is great with non stop laughs and fun entertainment! Small intermission...reload on booze! All in all, Lucha VaVoom is an epic ride mixing the best of choreographed lucha libre, campy drag, and a whole lot of sexiness!!

Two words: midget wrestling!!! NOT KIDDING! OMFG!!!! Technically, it was about two and a half hours of Mexican wrestling and burlesque striptease, but it was more like an entire evening of good old fashioned pandemonium! It was one of the oddest events I have ever gone to, but was also one of the most entertaining and amusing ones as well! Seriously, I couldn't believe some of what I saw and I don't even know how to put the evening into words. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!!!!

Wow! or, as they say in spanish... el Wow! one of the great experiences in Los Angeles. a real addition for the "To Do" list for LA. kind of like Venice Beach, the Getty and rush hour on the 405. granted it moves around from city to city, it should not be missed when it comes around here. the venue at the Mayan is perfect. we got there about 730p for the 830p show. the line was all the way down the block already. parking was, ok. we paid $10. just missed out on the $7 parking that closed up. the line moved and we had friends there so not too bad. it's been 10yrs since i had been to the Mayan. still looked the same. as soon as you walk in the atmosphere is thick with anticipation and excitement for the unknown. i can say that even for the people standing, it was an edge of your seat feeling. very electric inside this cavernous structure. i had never been to a Lucha Libre match. i've seen bits and pieces on spanish TV. it is quite the spectacle. the hosts were pretty funny. two white dudes. the ring announcer was a mexican guy who yelled when introducing the performers. the "wrestlers" were real characters with awesome names and costumes. my fave, Dirty Sanchez. dude had pubes coming out of his crotch!!! i won't give away anything else, but, he was a riot. the midget fight was the best of the nite. i could've watched that one all nite. the fights were pretty realistic. and i'm using that term loosely as it applies to "professional" wrestling. there's a burlesque performance in between matches. it was actually the hokiest part of the show. not that i don't like watching half naked women with pasties and tassles. bring 'em on. oh, and this is definately not a kid friendly environment in case you were wondering. the only knock, which i'm not going to knock them for, is the drink prices. corona and a diet coke, $11. but, that's where they make their money, so i understand. overall, an event i would wholeheartedly reccomend putting on your "To Do" list. buy a mask and be part of the show!

This has to be the most bizarre show I'll ever watch. But would I watch it again? Hell yes. You really have to know what you're getting yourself into before you spend the 35 dollars and commit to 3 hours of Mexican wrestling and Buxotica (exotic dancing). This is the promo reel I watched before attending. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XutwpwoC1lw If you still think it looks cool, then please check this show out. It's sooooo much fun and I hear it's only gotten better in the last couple of years. TIPS: - I thought the balcony seats were fine and they're half the price of the ringside seats. You're not up close to the action, but you can see everything. One might argue that the view is a bit better, since you can see everything happening all at once. Check out the pic I took from my seat. -The balcony is first come first serve. So if you go with a big group, get there early and wait in line before the doors open. - Parking is pretty easy, but naturally costs more the closer you park. 10 dollar parking in the lot next to the Mayan. If you don't mind walking a block, there was 5 dollar parking on the SW corner of Hill and Olympic. If you don't mind walking a couple more blocks, street parking is FREE on 11th.

My 100th review goes to Lucha VaVoom! They've earned it! I've been attending this wildly fun Mexican wrestling and burlesque show for the past several years, and they NEVER disappoint. There's ample parking with lots next door, across the street, around the corner. Though the parking prices gouge, @ $20 per night, you can find cheaper lots if you're willing to walk. There's usually a line to enter, unless you arrive uber-early to stake a great seat. Just be sure to bring your most interesting and best of friends to keep you entertained. But worth the wait, and there's plenty of seating in the balcony with good views. If want to avoid the wait, but possibly risk not getting seats, maybe arrive 7:30 - 8 pm, as the line is around the corner if you get there earlier. But don't fret, plenty of eye-candy entertainment en route. The drinks are FUERTE (strong)! Pricey but the potency can knock your socks off, and you if you're not careful. Now onto the show. Tickets for GA starts at $40+ and well worth every penny! The 2 emcees (English and Spanish) are hilarity on two legs! They start and keep the energy of the show going with a lot of wit, sarcasm, and biting humor. My favorite stars of the show are the Crazy Chickens with their own theme song and mini-chicken! This year at Mexican Horror Story, Peaches performed in one of the lucha matches--amazing! Also the fun, talented, and often campy burlesque dancers and aerialists mix it up to give you a range of delight. I appreciate how progressive the show is with the inclusion of trans and racy performers, but it's not for the faint of heart. You've been warned :-) The Halloween show concluded with an internationally-known, world-record hooper named Marawa the Amazing. IMHO it's one of the BEST ongoing shows in LA; Lucha VaVoom always delivers riveting entertainment and I look forward to the next one! The venue--The Mayan--which is very Mayan inside and out and the prrrfect venue. If you're sub-culturally courageous, enjoy low-brow shenanigans with high-brow finesse, go! Luchaaaa!

Messicans! Midgets!! And more curvy buxom broads than you can imagine...and that's before you even get in the joint! Yes oh yes, Lucha is a must hit if you are lucky enough to live in or visit LA when it hits. It's all just a big pot of ridiculous, but therein lies the charm. Like Aunny D. I had an ex who took me to Lucha for Valentine's Day and seriously, that's romance. Keep your Hallmark cards, red roses and white teddy bears and bring on the little people wrestling 6 foot Amazons and get me a cocktail! It's also hitting this Halloweenie, so get tickets if you still can! :)

If you might be turned off by pro wrestling, don't worry, it's hard to call what they do here that. It's more like a party or a show. After leaving my first Lucha VaVOOM show, reflecting on what went on inside the ring, I felt like the business had been bastardized. But then I realized that had happened long ago, probably around the time David Arquette won the WCW World Heavyweight title, if not earlier, and got over it. This is unlike any other lucha venue and crowd you'll encounter. For starters it's at The Mayan so there's a real bar as opposed to a snack bar. When not backstage, I mainly hung out on the balcony. It's more accessible than the packed floor and a better spot to take everything in. There were several "C" list celebrities in attendance, including the aforementioned David Arquette, and then Paul Ruebens (Pee Wee Herman), SpongeBob (the guy that does his voice), and wait for it...Grant Show of Melrose Place fame! There were others, but Grant Show made me forget the rest. So this is one of my all time greatest life moments: I had driven the main eventer (Dr. Wagner Jr.) to this show, and when we go right to the VIP entrance to get in, I see Grant Show on the other side waiting in line with the commoners. So yeah, the day I die I can always say for one night in my life I was more important than the guy that played Jake on Melrose Place. The other highlights for me were observing the Burlesque girls backstage, hanging out with midgets, and watching Mistico (now known as Sin Cara in WWE) basically acting like a dick and having plenty of "bacne" on him. Guess they didn't have a Wellness Program for the talent. I think I also saw more dancing from the luchadores than the Burlesque chicks. The guys even danced with their opponents. It was Halloween week when I went but it's not a stretch to think the way the performers and crowd were dressed, would be the same any time of the year.

Las mujeres son calientes, la lucha es violenta y tienen enanos. Consiguió amar a los pequeños individuos. Bueno contra mal. Plancha, Guillotina, Quebradora, Quebrador con grio! LuchaVavoom, LuchaVavoom LuchaVavoom. Funny, campy, audience-interactive entertainment. Love the Chickens and midgets, umm, I mean little people.

Fun photo op and masks for purchase! They allow you to try them on and take photos to see how they look on you too. V

Oh man. As good as it gets is right! I heard about Lucha VaVoom for Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling a long time ago but didn't think it was legit. When I heard it was going to be Halloween Monster themed I decided to make it happen. It was so worth it! I sat in the Ring Side seating - which is good to see the stage but I would recommend paying a little extra for the Golden Circle - you are more eye level with the action and the luchadores jump/get thrown/fly in there nonstop! Really in on the action. It's a little cheesy - the skits are planned out and there is a lot of added music and noise - but it's AWESOME. Intermixed are burlesque shows and comedic commentary. I would go again. Only side note - don't go hungry. The drinks are good (basic but good), but there is no food.

This event is worth attending at least once in your life if you're an Angeleno...however it's a rather surreal experience. The wrestling wasn't as authentic as we thought it would be but the final wrestler (Mistico) did not disappoint: he did some crazy moves off the ropes and was well worth it! Some of my favorites? The midget wrestlers and the crazy costumes. My not-so-favorites....cross-dressing (ugly men dressed as women), jiggling flesh in all forms, overly crass jokes from the announcers, and some of the burlesque acts.

Crazy Chicken masks makes you feel like a G!

I have been a pro wrestling fan since I was five years old. This is a very different kind of wrestling vs. what you watch on T.V. This wrestling is wacky, colorful, fun, and sexy. The humor is over the top, the costumes are amazing, and the wrestling is great. From Chocolate Caliente to the Crazy Chickens to Joey Ryan and Matt Classic, I cannot help but have a great time at these shows. I've brought friends with different tastes in interests and thus far, all have enjoyed.....LUCHA!...VAVOOM! Pros: -Always display great shows(Wrestling + burlesque shows)! -Merch Booth -Cinco de Mayo shows features Mariachi, Mexican food, and Low-Riders -Merch booth (Crazy Chicken masks make cool gifts) -Crowd Interaction -Take pictures with your favorite luchadors! FYI: One of the ring commentators is the voice actor who does Sponge Bob. The next time you see that sponge on TV, it's image may be permanently tainted.

Best free night out in a long time (thanks Hazel Q)! Recommended and placed in the agenda for future use from a certain... I was fortunate enough to win a pair of tickets to a show that would give Wringling Brothers a run for their money if they ever wanted to be on the Spice channel. What do you get when you mix burlesque, midgets, trannys, and colorful ridiculously rad costumes? Theeeee Luccchaaa! Despite the fact that I had to "drag" (no he didn't go IN drag though that would have been rad) a friend out.. (whom subsequently thanked me profusely) we: me, said friend, & Angie had a friggin blast. Some of these girls have been doing the show a long time. Lucy Fur is a gal I've seen/heard about on more than one occasion. The show doesn't go on all year round, and it's a bit of a shame. However it makes it all the more desirable and awesome when you have a chance. Hell, even if the venue it was at wasn't the best in this case, the show itself was rad. Colorful masks adorn fans and Lucha alike. The announcers make for some raunchy side commentary. It's not always the funniest material but the performers themselves are what you are there for. Rounds of Luchadores and then interludes with burlesque. Be sure to get as close as you can if possible & that your camera is fully charged with batteries. (Sadly mine died and I only got the 3 pictures here... however I did get video!) Lucha: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obyDAvVRv84&feature=channel_page VaVoom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdLuhk_AuDM&feature=channel I only have one complaint: there was not a redhead burlesque dancer. And if they need a volunteer for fulfilling that demand, well I guess I'd have to step up to the plate on that one.
