I've been a patient of Dr Gutta twice now, the first time at his Midland office and the second time…read moreat his Odessa office. He removed an impacted wisdom tooth for me in 2015, and he removed a broken molar, did a bone graft, and installed a post for a future implant in December of 2020. He also removed a second (thankfully I only developed two) impacted wisdom tooth that was trying to dig its way into my sinus cavity on the same visit in December 2020. Both times, he has been happy to explain in detail what he was doing and why it was needed, what medications he was prescribing or not prescribing and why, and what he recommended for future treatment. He hasn't tried to push for any additional procedures, with the exception of a letter letting me know that he had started offering cosmetic surgery such as face lifts in 2016, about a year after my original visit. Yes, his work is expensive. So is every other oral surgeon out there. My first extraction with him, in 2015, cost a little less than $1200. My second set of extractions, bone graft, and post, in 2020, cost a little over $4300. The abutment that he'll do before it's ready for a crown is set to cost $220, and then another dentist will take over to do the crown. All of my visits have been done under anesthesia, since local anesthetics don't work well for me, so that's contributed to my costs. All of my dental work has been paid out of pocket as well, since I don't have dental insurance. Yes, he can be a little bit abrupt, and he is very blunt- he doesn't pull punches when explaining what's wrong or how you've contributed to the problem. I can see how some people might interpret that as rude, but he's never been rude to me. He told me flat out that if I don't take better care of my teeth, I'll end up needing more pulled or replaced, and it'll be sooner rather than later. I've never heard him yell at anyone, cuss at anyone, or berate anyone. Most surgeons have a degree of arrogance, so maybe I've just written it off as that, but I've had someone with me to drive me home after each appointment, and they didn't see any rudeness from him either. All in all, I feel that I've gotten solid care from Dr Gutta and his staff. Obviously I hope not to need his care often, but I have absolutely no hesitation recommending him to others, and I intend to use his practice in future if and when I need an oral surgeon again.

I appreciate that Dr. Gutya was kind and gentle with her. As of today she is on the mend after what could have been a much more traumatic experience and doing well! Thank you for the patience and understanding of my fearful lady child and making sure we don't have to go through this again!

I left a more detailed review on his Odessa office page, because that's where I've had/am having the most work done. Dr Gutta and his staff have been very quick to explain, in detail, everything that he recommends having done, and why he recommends it. He explained what medications he was prescribing or not prescribing, and why. I was given written follow up instructions, which is always helpful, especially after anesthesia when memory isn't the greatest. I've been able to call with questions and always get a response fairly quickly. I've never seen or heard him yell at anyone or be rude to anyone, including his staff. I had a family member with me at each appointment so they could drive me home afterwards, and they didn't see or hear anything inappropriate from him, either. He can be somewhat abrupt- he's a busy guy, and doesn't have time to waste on sugar coating things. He's very blunt about what you need to do as a patient. He has never pushed any additional procedures on me, with the exception of a letter sent about a year after my visit in 2015, letting me know that he was now offering cosmetic surgery such as face lifts. Yes, his work is expensive. My single wisdom tooth extraction in 2015 was a little more than $1100. I don't have dental insurance, so that was a pretty rough out of pocket expense. However, most oral surgeons are expensive. Anesthesia isn't exactly cheap, either, and all of the work I've had done by Dr Gutta has been done under anesthesia, since local anesthetics just don't work on me like they're supposed to. I hope not to need his care in the future, because I'd like to keep the rest of my teeth, but if I do need an oral surgeon, Dr Gutta's office is going to be the first place I call. I have no hesitation recommending him, because he's done solidly good work on my teeth.

Dr Gutta came into the exam room and was very condescending to begin with. His consult was to…read moreforcibly wiggle a tooth that was not a problem. I asked him to stop and he said it has to come out as well. I told him im not going to take that tooth out. Just the one the dentist said needs to come out. He said we can go round and round but it needs to come out. I told him again im not removing that tooth. He was pushy about it and then finally said we'll what do you want to do? I said I want to leave. He turned around and walked out without another word. Believe it or not this whole thing was around 3-4 minutes. I would never go back and suggest for safety that you avoid this dr. I would be afraid of sedation with his arrogant personality.
