I dropped by here for dinner after reading the great reviews. I think everything that's been said on Yelp is true -- great authentic food, not the friendliest service, but overall worth it. First the food: I got the mango/soda water/mint drink and it was nice & refreshing, a good option if you're going with spicy entrees. Next, I went for the mini veggie rolls, and these were whatever. I didn't realize they were fried and I would have preferred fresh rolls, but they were just OK (wouldn't order again). Also tried two soups - one with tamarind, tomato & shrimp, and the other Tom Yum Goong with chicken. These are legit and tasted extremely authentic. I'd come back just for big bowls of spicy sour soup on a rainy day. Finally, I split the duck larb with another person, and this was more than enough for us both! Good quality, interesting & flavorful. It comes with sticky rice and *is served room temperature* -- I didn't know this and thought it got cold sitting out, so I asked the waitress if she could heat it up. She seemed offended and explained it is not supposed to be hot. It doesn't say this on the menu, so now you know. The service: I made a reservation for 2 beforehand, but the waitresses seemed skeptical and took awhile to seat us. They weren't very friendly during the meal until we left a tip at the end, and then they smiled a lot. Maybe they were annoyed by my food temperature question? Anyway, it wasn't the best service ever but the food makes up for it. I'd recommend you make reservations though because it was packed on a Monday night. read more

I learned about Laos when coming here and it has become one of my favourite places for tasty Asian food. The owner is welcoming and always ready to help with suggestions or a smile. My personal recommendation would be to order Lab with chicken (even though I am a vegetarian). But prepare for something spicy! read more

Not an insider's tip anymore, this restaurant probably requires you to reserve a table if you want to be sure to get a seat. I finally got around to check it out myself and it's a good restaurant. The premises are not very big, which might be an explanation for the reservation need. But the decoration is nice and as far as I can tell it's altogether very Laotian. The food is of great quality and tastes just as well, though personally I prefer my vegetables to be well-cooked instead of firm (but that's a matter of taste). This is by far my best asian restaurant in Düsseldorf. Choice is awesome. The menu system is unique and treats vegetarians and non-vegetrians equally. Practically you can make any dish vegetarian or non-vegetarian. No europeanisation in food. Authentic asian. Spice levels are authentic too. Service is little laggy and not so friendly. However for the food, you can excuse their service standards. read more

It's a great place to go if craving some traditional Asian food and not just fried junk food. It's healthy and tasty, didn't get the cocktail but (what looked like) the manager suggested a great wine and I think this makes the service better than average. The beef larb was quite nice! Great stuff! Super friendly staff that accommodated us during a busy time. Very authentic food from Thailand and Laos with loads of flavor, herbs and spices. I recommend the filled squid, the papaya salad and the lab ( we tried chicken) - also comes with the option of pork & beef. There is a 5 star chili rating that is not for the faint of heart. We tried the 4 star for the Lab and a 3 for the papaya salad and even though we like it hot, we will most likely dial it back next time as they really mean business in the chili department The Lab (a 4) as we discovered was REALLY SPICY! But hey, we were warned twice and still ordered it! We left having had a lovely night out, with our stomachs full, our mouths tingling and will definitely return soon! Highly recommended. read more

This is one of the best Asian restaurants in Düsseldorf, and this includes all of the great Japanese places in the Stadtmitte. My husband and I have eaten here quite a few times and the food and cocktails are always great. We regularly suggest it when we have dinner dates with friends. It's pretty close to the Flingern S8 station, so if you're worried about parking, or want to enjoy some of their cocktails, then this is a great option. read more

After explaining to them that it was our wedding anniversary they offered us a place at the bar. That at the time was occupied and to by pregnant wife. Is this how you treat regular loyal customers? Consistently really good food. I've tried the Larb with beef and chicken and prefer the beef. The sticky rice that accompanies the dish is to die for! My husband always gets a curry of some sort that is also equally delicious. However, be forewarned that the spicy level of this restaurant is unlike any other restaurant in all of Germany - they use real Thai chilis! I would go with a 1 if you are not used to eating any spiciness and a 2 if you enjoy spiciness. Anything higher depends on your bravery level and how much you want to cry or sweat at dinner. read more
