I had my first health consultation appointment with Dr. Lu. She was able to read my health by holding on my pulse on both wrists for 5 min. I was impressed by what she found out. Everything she said was 99% accurate compare to my annual health report with western doctor at Hoag hospital. The price is crystal clear listed on the wall next to the reception desk. Dr. Lu will recommend different treatment for individuals. I went there with two friends. One of us does not need any treatment. The other friend only needs to take herb. And I need herb medication (it says one month herb supplement but they are usually good for 6-7 weeks) and acupuncture treatment. Her bro, Dr. Lu does acupuncture treatment. He is awesome! He can read my husband and my health condition by poking and looking our back of our body. He is also good at reading health condition by tapping our pulse. He is experienced and very skilled too. My husband and I started to go there once a week to get the treatment. ( We drive to there from Irvine every week) They are born and raised in the several generations Chinese doctor family and they also have western medical study and practice background before they move to US. They can read our health and define it in science way. That's pretty amazing. I'm highly recommended this place. read more

Really horrible experience here. Saw the doctor who told me to close my eyes so she could look at my face and then checked my Pulse on both hands while occasionally writing something down on a notepad. She then went on to say that I only have minor issues including infrequent headaches/dizziness (I rarely/never get dizzy and don't get any more headaches than an average person, maybe just if I'm dehydrated), stomach discomfort when I'm on my period (who doesn't get this? I consider my period symptoms very mild), cold sores (completely untrue), both irregular and low quality sleep (I would consider my sleep very regular and have used apps that show consistent high quality sleep), and that my hair falls out a lot in the shower (again maybe a few strands but definitely not an abnormal amount). Much of what she said seemed to be very broad generalizations, some of which were completely untrue for me. She was unable to identify my chronic condition that I had actually come in for and then asked if I wanted to take medication without any information on cost or what kind of medication. When I found out the medication was an extra $260, I decided I didn't want it and told the woman at the front desk that I did not want it. To that she said well it's already been prescribed so if you dont take it I will have to throw it away. At that point my friend just offered to pay for it for me. I found this to be very manipulative and coercive. I had clearly stated that I did not want the medication and there was no prior transparency about cost, yet she still tried to guilt trip me into buying it anyway. Overall I feel like this place is run very much like a scam. Everything is cash only I spent $340 in less than 15 mins for what felt like a lot of wrong guesses and some expensive jars of powder that could be anything or nothing. She is an awesome, friendlt, effective, helpful, considerate, insightful acupuncturist. My neck pain and shoulder pain has improved. I do cupping and needles. My body looks forward to the sessions. I should have maintained my acupuncture practices over the years. I have gone to her the longest and most consistently. Even if I moved further away, I would try to keep going. It makes a huge difference in quality of life. I am also interested in facial acupuncture once I can budget for it. read more

TLDR: it might be a scam, so don't be afraid to speak up if you feel any suspicions. I know traditional Chinese examinations might not be as accurate but that's not the only thing that made me rant like this. After reading the other 1 star review, I can confirm that this is also the worst experience I've ever had. Had a recommendation from coworkers about this place, so I went to see if I can get some insights into my internal problems. The doctor was nice to talk to but spew some of the most general things I've ever heard. The procedure was closing my eyes, did a swallow, and took both of my wrist pulses. I had maybe 4 things said about what might be wrong about me and 3 of them were way off point. Some of which being me having headaches/dizziness often (I've had maybe only 1 headache/felt dizziness in the past 6 years) and i lose hair often (i have no bald spots, nor do i have abnormal hair loss) -- sounds familiar to the other review? When i clearly said no to her telling me I have headaches, she denied me and assures me that I get dizzy in the morning often? She had me record the diagnosis so I'm sure that I'm not making this up. The whole consultation lasted 15 minutes only with no questions from my end as I was still trying to figure out what BS i was listening to. When my "100% chinese herbs" medicine was prescribed, I had no information about the pricing at any time until it was payment time. I also asked for a ingredients list as I think I could be allergic to whatever ingredients is in there (if i was, I would know what it could be as well) but not a single list was provided (note that the label on the bottom doesn't say shit). The front desk assures me that the doctor will know if I can't consume it or not because she somehow knows what I'm allergic to without me telling her anything. Not going to lie, part of it was my fault for not being proactive by asking more questions or denying the medicine (also note, the whole thing costed me $400... which is INSANE for traditional chinese medicine + consultation). I just had a LOT of suspicion after the diagnosis and prescription. But at this point, I was already so tired since I fell so hard I almost got a concession last night. After I left (I needed to head to work soon), I tried to call the place back asking for an ingredients list. (the doctor wrote some scribbles on my file, so I'm sure they remember what they gave me) And what do you know, they did not pick up AT ALL. Note that it was noon when i called and the place clearly said it closes at 2pm. I thought it was their break time or something so i called FIVE more times within 12:30-1:30. Nobody picked up after long rings. Heck, i even used a different phone number thinking they might have blocked my number. Some people say this place really solved their problems, I'm truly glad for them. But for me, I'm scared to even consume whatever expensive god medication or grass they gave me. I don't like my acupuncture session performed by a male acupuncturist who is Lu Yie's brother. After listening to my health concerns, he simply examined my body by pressing on my stomach. I was having stomach pain and he said that it was due to appendix infection. However I already had my appendix removed when I was a kid. When I told him so, he said I probably ate too much food. I felt that his diagnosis is very subjective and random. I need to share a room with two other people, which is extremely uncomfortable because when being acupunctured I can feel it makes my energy channels open and it feels not right to mingle with other people's energy in such a vulnerable state. After the session I felt weak, lack of energy, and have hardly seen any improvements for a week. read more

DR Lu is amazing. in the past 25 years, I went to difference chinese doctors when I was in Hong Kong, CA and New York. Luckily, I found Dr Lu, only she can fix my immune system problem. Besides, her acupuncture skill is the best. I went to the other acupuncture place, some doctors not skillful and afraid to insert a lot of needles on the patient but Dr Lu is not, she know what she do. besides, she is a super nice person and always willing to help and explain very clear. finally, I have to say the review from the other patient is non-sense. Who said Chinese doctor need to speak fluent english? if the doctor can speak english but can't heal me, I won't go. as I know if the patient can't speak Chinese, he/she can tell them when they call to make an appointment, someone will do the translation there. read more

I came here to get checked up and was overall happy with the whole experience. I did not have to wait long and the prices were reasonable for the whole acupuncture session. I felt much better afterwards and made sure to not over exert myself for the next few days. I've been coming to Dr. Lu for a couple of years now. In the beginning I was coming every month and took herbal medicine for months. After I completed my treatment I rarely visit but have brought many friends/family to see her. There is always a long wait because people come from all over the world to see her and she never turns people away (which is kind of a pain when you have an appointment but once you get to know her you can see understand why). She's clearly a very good doctor as far as her skills go, that's why people keep referring others and come back. I've seen many Chinese Medicine Doctors in the past that are just as capable, but what sets Dr. Lu apart for me is her personality. She is one of the kindest, honest, and well mannered person I've ever met in my life. I once brought my grandmother to see her, not realizing there is no elevator to the 2nd floor (which is where her clinic is). When Dr. Lu found out, she went downstairs and diagnosed my grandmother in the car. I've also seen her done that for other patients that may be hurt and can't come upstairs. She is always very courteous towards her patients, respects the elderly, and never tries to make money off you if you don't need the treatment. I've seen her send patients away w/o giving them any prescriptions even when they are totally willing to pay for it because she doesn't think they need any. If only all the physicians can have such integrity... Her English isn't very fluent but her husband helps her translate so just make sure you request for a translator when you make your appointment. You do have to share rooms if you're getting acupuncture but it's really not a big deal so just bring something to keep you entertained or take a nap.. And they do take insurance for the acupunture treatment, just not the herbal medicine. read more

I have visited herbal doctors all over America and Asia. She's undoubtedly the best doctor there is. Amazing result! My family and I have been her patients for a long time, she's not only courteous but has a great heart that truly cares about her patients well beings. I noticed a review from few months back stating some very untruthful stories about Dr lu. I then looked into that reviewer'a other reviews.... Elizabeth purposely gives negative results to people for no reason. Once again, I cannot emphasize enough on choosing a good herbal dr for yourself. I signed up Yelp to make few comments about Dr Lu. Dr Lu is a very well know herbal doctor. Her Patients are from all over the world, including, high government officials from TW, Indonesia, Malaysian Royal Families, top bussinessmen from all over the world. When i went in to her clinic for a checkup, she pin pointed EACH and EVERYONE of my problems just by checking my pulse. I later told all of my familes members (14), and everyone went to see her was overwhelmed by how acurate she diagnosed the problem. Her diagnosing skill is like a sophisticated machine. I have never seen or heard anything like this. My wife and I have never been healthier after taking her herbal medicines. She has help me with my gaut problems. I had an acupunture session with this lady yie lu, who is supposedly an acupuncture doctor, ha ha ha. It seems like she doesn't really care about her patients. She doesn't speak an inch of english which is pretty stupid if ur a doctor and you try to treat a patient and don't know how to communicate with them . That truly shows you just want to charge them and not care for their well-being. The older lady who works at the front desk on sundays,has a nasty attitude and seems like she doesn't want to work. She says she can translate whatever that needs to be asked to yie lu, but has this annoying look on her face. She even brought out the wrong chart while yie lu was trying to communicate with her. After 5 minutes of talking , I noticed she was talking about something totally different and saw that it wasn't even the right chart. How unprofessional and lame can that be? When yie lu is inserting the needles, she seems pretty careless and just pokes ur skin without any caution. I wouldn't recommend ever coming to this clinic. Don't waste your time and money here because there are so much better acupuncturists that actually care about their patients. That pretty much sums up my experience here. read more
