1st visit we had a lovely meal although it started to go cold due to waiting 10 minutes for the vegetables after the main course had been delivered. 2nd visit - booked a table but on arrival was told there was at least an hours wait for food. Meal listed as gluten free on the menu came covered in what looked like a heap of batter strips (possibly onion in batter). Waitress took it back to kitchen and returned saying "sorry, they brought you the wrong meal. There's no gluten in anything on this plate". I'd nearly finished the meal when I found a strip of the batter: they'd just scraped it off and brought out the same meal. I spoke to the staff who didn't deny what had happened. I explained that I would possibly be ill but they just offered to speak to the chef about reviewing the menu. I don't like to make a fuss and my stomach was already reacting so I paid the full bill and left. I've been suffering for 3 days with severe stomach pains and other difficulties that I won't go into. After all the publicity there has been you'd think it would be safe for people to eat out without being poisoned. Gluten causes my immune system to attack and destroy the lining of my intestines. This is not just someone being a fussy eater but even if it were the restaurant should take the paying customer seriously and certainly not lie to them about what they are eating. Such a shame because I really liked the look of the place and the location. read more
