It is a large campus and the GPS seemed to have brought me around the long way, but I made it on time. So far, all I know is that they have rheumatologists (1 year wait). I got in within only 2 months which was great & won't need to return to rheumatology. They also have orthopedics and of course the doctors can only handle one joint at a time (or one body part both sides). No joke, but I was able to get scheduled very quickly & chose this location just because it may be the closest to Naples. I am finding Lee Health to be better as far as ability to communicate (they use MyChart which MassBrigham uses) vs. Physician's, even though all of the doctors there have been super amazing/smart. Seemed like an old building with weird hallways like A, B, C, D. Like the alphabet.

What's most concerning is the complete lack of communication and urgency from this office. We have repeatedly called for updates, and no one returns calls unless we constantly follow up. There has been no proactive outreach from the doctor or staff at any point. My husband had an X-ray done, and we still have not received any guidance on results or next steps. Meanwhile, he is now out of medication and in significant pain, with no support from the provider managing his care. Due to this lack of responsiveness and concern, we are now forced to seek help at urgent care. This level of neglect is unacceptable. Patients deserve timely communication, proper follow-up, and a sense that their condition matters. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here.

I also have had 2 surgeries on my hips and thought they may be causing the pain as well. Dr. Gerber didn't do anything other than try to convince me I was fine and recommend I see Dr. Bertram (an orthopaedic surgeon). I saw him and he did a 10 second evaluation on my hips, then had me walk about 5 steps and said "Anyone that can walk that fast doesn't have a hip problem!". He said just to make sure I didn't have any pelvic issues, he ordered a Pelvic MRI and had me come back 7 days later. At this appt., he said I needed to have both of my hips replaced - when I questioned his reversal from the week before, he said "Your hips are not normal!" By the end of the appt., which believe me wasn't long, but sufficient for me to whedle out of him that although my hip capsule was filled with fluid and I had arthritis, my hips would last another 10 years. He also was insistent that I probably had rheumatoid arthritis and thought I should see a rheumatologist. I had an RA blood panel done, and it was normal. Dr. Bertram is definitely not the person you want to see for any kind of analysis of a problem that isn't straight forward. He is too stuck in his ways, didn't like to questioned, didn't like to explain, and frankly was of no help. He must believe that a patient is just there to be worked on, not have any kind of questions or vested interest in their care.

Dr. Bertram's associate, Dr. Herbert, is super, too. Both doctors are very calm, take their time & explain things clearly. I was amazed when I called the office one day to ask a question & Dr. Bertram himself called me back to give me the answer.

On 6/11/25, I had a scheduled appointment with Dr. O'Leary at 8:45 AM. Due to unforeseen traffic, I…read morearrived at 8:52 AM. Upon my arrival, I apologized for the delay and inquired with the receptionist if rescheduling would be necessary. The receptionist consulted Dr. O'Leary's nurse, who indicated that she would first see the 9:00 AM patient, as it was expected to be a brief visit, and then accommodate me. Shortly thereafter, I was called to the examining room. After waiting for a few minutes, I briefly left the room to use the restroom. Upon my return a few minutes later, Dr. O'Leary was in the examining room. He stated that I was "extremely late" and directed my attention to X-ray results on a nearby chair. I attempted to discuss hip pain I was experiencing, but Dr. O'Leary declined, reiterating that my lateness prevented further discussion. He then offered a sciatica injection. I was surprised by this turn of events, especially as it was approximately 9:00 AM, and the patient scheduled for that time appeared to have already been seen and departed. There were no other patients in the waiting area at this time. I declined the injection and subsequently left the office. As a result, my co-pay of $40.00 and my time were expended without addressing my primary medical concern.

After consulting with my primary care physician, I received a recommendation to contact Robert…read moreO'Leary as a Physiatrist to help me with my mobility needs. I am a C6 Incomplete Quadriplegic (34 years post injury) and was seeking advice or a therapy plan to help me return to ambulating with a cane (I currently use a walker). Additionally I was seeking advice for either therapy or pain management for my left shoulder (torn rotator cuff/arthritis) and lower back (L 3/4 pain and sciatica). I visited Dr. O'Leary's website and read patient feedback via the internet and it appeared he was a good match for my needs, so I scheduled an appointment. I met with the Dr. O'Leary for an initial office visit on April 12, 2018 in his Bonita Springs office. My expectations were that he would recommend a therapy plan to help me deal with my walking needs/goals and additionally suggest treatment (s) for my shoulder and lower back pain. Upon meeting him I was informed that he specializes in pain management and is not "focused" on rehabilitative care. This surprised me as I specifically asked Dr. Stafford for a physiatrist to assist me with my mobility needs. My initial visit lasted approximately 15 minutes during which Dr. O'Leary discussed my initial diagnosis, past treatments and current condition. At the conclusion of my office visit, all Dr. O'Leary offered was advice to "ice" my lower back and shoulder at least once/day and offered no additional recommendation for my ambulation needs. I came away for my initial visit with no meaningful information that I could not have found by doing an internet search. On June 2, 2018 I received an account statement in which the initial office visit charges totaled $461.00. I am shocked that ANY physician would charge that much for an office consultation. I will accept responsibility for not doing more research into Dr. O'Leary or inquiring into his fee structure before scheduling my appointment. That said I find it unbelievable that he would charge such an excessive amount for a consultation. I will NOT be returning to Dr. O'Leary NOR will I recommend his services based upon my experience.
