There's even a community board towards the bathroom, which gives this spot a community-based vibe. It's a quick, casual spot with several tables open for grabs when people leave. I got a traditional everything bagel w cream cheese to start the day, which had the RIGHT amt of cream cheese. Sometimes places give wayy too much, ruining the exp. I also ordered their popular Sumac Chicken sandwich on their Dutch Crunch bread, which was really good!! The bread had a slight sweetness to it that was satisfying and the flavors altogether were soo yummy. I waited ~12 min for my order, since they were rightfully packed. No outside food/drinks allowed if you're grabbing a table to eat. There's WiFi and a restroom in the back. Lots of neighborhood regulars. Bonus points that their food is halal for those w dietary restrictions. Great neighborhood spot!!

It had homemade croutons and sides of bread. Got a slice of the carrot cake and it was very moist. Not too sweet with cream cheese frosting. Raisins included, if that matters to you. We got the garlic chicken on French baguette. It was a creamy base and not something I would buy again. Glad we added cheese because there wasn't much to it. the other sandwich we bought was avocado turkey on Dutch crunch. It unfortunately had enough mayo to drown the restaurant. The amount of meat left much to be desired. We asked for chips which they had but only for online orders that came in. ??? Doesn't make sense to me. For 2 Sammie's, a salad and cake it was $45, just for a gauge of prices. The cashier was on the phone the entire time and couldn't hear what we said because of that. Kinda acted inconvenienced we were talking while he was on the phone. The restaurant is pretty chill and seemed like a workspace for people with art on the walls for sale. The art also had a thick layer of dust, and overall the dining room could use a good deep clean. The bathroom cleanliness was decent. This probably won't be another place I would seek out in the future.

We were quoted a time of 20 minutes out. We arrived a little early and the gal at the counter told us it would be a few minutes. She called out when ready and sat at one of the tables in the front to eat. Each sub had a decent amount of filling. While we each offered the smallest subs, we were plenty full when we left. We enjoyed our subs and now have a place to add to our list for a new quick lunch. For the store itself, they have some odds and ends but many Italian staples. The counter and deli had a steady flow of customers in and out.

As I parked this large Chevy Suburban parked in front of me. As I sat in the car & saw one person after another unloaded & head towards Potbelly. In all I counted 8 guys unloading from this Suburban. & head to Potbelly. I'm like oh hell no. That's when I saw CONTE DI SAVOIA @ 1438 W Taylor Street on the north side of Taylor Street. I decided to cross over & check out this old world Italian Deli. Conti Di Savoia is small Italian grocery store w/an Italian deli that has w/outstanding & inexpensive sandwiches. When I went in there was a line of people waiting @ the deli counter waiting to place their order. I must have looked confused because the owner directed me & told the line started on the other side towards the back of the store. What I found was an awesome of fresh handmade sandwiches for a very reasonable price. I ordered an 8" pastrami w/mozzarella cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, red onions, mayo, & Italian oil drizzled. What I got was an awesome inexpensive sandwich loaded with/fresh ingredients. Absolutely delicious. After I got my sandwich the owner (I introduced myself (I think his name was Mike) rang up the sandwich. He said they have been there for 35 years. There's also a small dining area in the front of the store where I sat & devoured my sandwich. Like I said this is small Italian store w/a nice selection of products like meats, cheeses, pastas, wine, olive & deli items. I throughly enjoyed finding Conte Di Savoia. The pastrami sandwich was awesome w/a generous portion of pastrami & toppings for a reasonable price. I'm the type of person who who loves finding new places to eat. Most times unless I find great food & reasonable prices I won't go back but I feel like I found a real gem W/Conti Di Savoia. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK AGAIN.

The sandwich not overly breaded and just enough sauce and cheese. The hot peppers were good on it but I should have got the sweet peppers too. My friend said her fries were fresh but just a little undercooked. The soup was different from the standard pasta fagioli that I have had which seemed to be a cream based maybe cheese in it and beans no beef. But it was still good. I added a pinch of salt The pizza looked delicious as did the ice cream. I would have loved to try a beef as I haven't been here since I was a kid. Half of a large sandwich and I was stuffed. Great vibe and definitely a sox fans haven. The servers were kind and again even with a line out the door the they moved quickly.

When they closed, I never really realized I missed them. Flash forward 38 years later. Went to Rush Hospital to visit an uncle. Leaving at about lunch time, I opened my Yelp app to see what was nearby. The top spouses ad (2.7 miles away) was Ricobene's. I really wasn't aware they were even around anymore. So, for nostalgic purposes, I decided to go there. Had my mother and aunt in tow, and we were all very pleased. The breaded steak, while still maybe not the greatest thing since sliced bread, was a nice blast from the past that I really enjoyed. Would I go there again? Surely. If I were 2.7 miles away (though uncle's been released and is back home doing fine). Do wanna try their Chicken Vesuvio again one day. But 22 miles each way just for that, not. Quick friendly service, and way cleaner than most hot dog joints and beef stands out my way. Few things make me miss Chicago, but this is one of them.

Anyway, very clean shop. Service was friendly. I ended up ordering the Hoagie sampler which allows you to pick (3) different hoagies which are 4 inches. They wrap the hoagies individually and then place them in a container together. My hoagie also came with a small individual serving of chips. I ordered this with it in mind that I would give my husband one of the hoagies. Timing wasn't too long between order and the to-go being ready. I ate my first hoagie in the car on my ride back to the home. It wasn't messy and was deliciously seasoned with condiments. I believe it was the corn beef. Yum. We also enjoyed turkey ham and turkey hoagie. The bread was just right not too soft and not too tough. However it held up with the Italian seasoning applied to the fresh veggies. All-in all, enjoyed my hoagies. If in the area again, would try the Italian beef or one of the panini. I had a solid hour drive home so I didn't think those would hold up in the car or be easy to eat in the car. I did. Like that that they had a tuna melt and those are my jam.

People were crowding around it as the staff handed it to me--handled with care . The chicken was crispy, the sauce had that classic rich flavor, and the melted cheese tied everything together just right. What I really appreciated was how consistent the quality was from end to end--no soggy spots, and the bread held up beautifully (which is key when you're dealing with something this massive). You can tell they know what they're doing when it comes to Italian bread and hearty sandwiches. I think they have patio seating available when the weather allows, which is a nice option, but it does get crowded. Calling ahead to order is definitely a smart move. There was a line out the door, which we didn't mind, but things became disorganized when staff asked everyone to move inside. It caused people to lose their place in line, and the ordering process felt very chaotic and rushed. Because it was so crowded, I didn't really get a chance to look at the bakery items and only ended up ordering a cookie and a cannoli. After ordering, we were asked to wait outside for our name to be called. It took about 15-20 minutes for two sandwiches, and the pickup process was also a bit hectic. The chicken parm sandwich was good, but the eggplant parm was underwhelming and had more breading than eggplant. Overall, for about $17.50 per sandwich, the experience didn't quite match the price for me.
