I love these hyper-local newspapers! Even though I'm only sticking around in Beaufort for a day or two, it's interesting to read the stories that affect the people here. "Confessions of an Amazon Exile" (Amazon removed her book reviews for... reasons.) and "Bluffton Chef Recognized by James Beard Foundation" (look for Ọkàn to open in Spring 2023 - Bluffton is only 30 miles from here) with advertisers for local vendors. Local events including markets, art shows, a drum circle, book signings and more. I found it all interesting as I read this paper that I picked up for free at the City Java coffee shop. Established in 2000.

For 17 years, 12,000 copies of Lowcountry Weekly have been distributed to over 250 free pick-up locations across the county every other Wednesday - from Fripp Island to Hilton Head's Harbor Town. We're the only publication that covers the entire county! We enjoy a pick-up rate of over 93% per issue. And, according to a survey conducted by the national Association of Alternative Newsweeklies (AAN), alternative papers reach an average of 2.7 - 3.3 readers per copy. This means we're reaching about 70,000 people each month. 70,000 people!
