So I made my appointment and got right in. The staff were attentive and very kind. The doctor I was seen by was thorough. I definitely recommend this Urgent Care.

I got the feeling she did not know what she was doing They took everyone back (except 1 person) before me that arrived AFTER me Editing to add- because this provider was extremely incompetent I had to go to a different urgent care the next day. I was struggling to breathe even though my pulse ox showed a good result. Today I saw a provider at a different urgent care (Chenal urgent care is the place to go to)that listened and cared. He did a chest X-ray that showed really bad bronchial inflammation and gave me a steroid shot. I do not recommend Baptist urgent care even if you think you are dying. They do not care. They are incompetent. Also, someone who works there smells horribly of cigarette smoke. It was floating around everywhere. I know it's an employee bc they came into our room to turn off the machine that was making our room freezing cold and when she came in we got the horrible cigarette smoke smell again

The staff showed genuine compassion, treated us with kindness and respect, and gave us the space to ask questions and even agree to disagree while always keeping our son's best interests at heart. Although the experience was incredibly difficult, we came through it in a very good place, and for that we are deeply thankful. We truly appreciate the doctors, nurses, and everyone who played a part in my son's care. Thank you for your dedication and compassion.

Title: Disturbing, Condescending, and Unprofessional Conduct by Dr. David Shenker…read more My telephone interaction with Dr. David Shenker of Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock was extremely disturbing, disheartening, and alarming. His behavior throughout the conversation was confrontational, condescending, berating, and extraordinarily unprofessional. What struck me immediately was his demeanor from the very beginning of the call. Even during the initial greeting, he did not seem particularly pleasant, welcoming, or interested in understanding why I had contacted hospital leadership. Rather than approaching the conversation with an open mind and a willingness to resolve concerns, he appeared ready to challenge and argue with me. I contacted physician leadership to report legitimate concerns regarding communication involving hospital physicians. I expected someone in a leadership position to listen, ask appropriate questions, and explain what could be done to address the situation. Instead, Dr. Shenker repeatedly interrupted me, challenged my statements, and attributed positions to me that I had never expressed. At one point, he questioned me about speaking on the telephone while driving, asking, "You don't talk on the phone while driving?" and "Have you never had a conversation while driving?" These questions disregarded the distinction between an ordinary telephone conversation and a serious medical discussion requiring someone's full attention. He also made a statement along the lines of, "I've never heard of anyone that didn't want to hear anything from their mother's physician." I found this particularly offensive because I had never indicated that I was unwilling to communicate with physicians. Throughout the exchange, I repeatedly had to correct his mischaracterizations and explain that the statements he was attributing to me were his words, not mine. His approach felt less like a professional conversation and more like an attempt to admonish or reprimand me. He spoke in a manner that came across as though he held some type of personal authority over me. I found this particularly strange and inappropriate. His position within a hospital does not give him the authority to belittle, lecture, or berate someone who is raising a legitimate concern. Most importantly, Dr. Shenker never meaningfully addressed the actual reasons for my call. He offered no clear assurance that he would investigate the communication problems, no explanation of how they would be resolved, and no indication of what steps he intended to take. The conversation ended without any meaningful resolution. After an exchange that I experienced as unnecessarily hostile and argumentative, the call was simply over. I find this behavior especially disturbing given Dr. Shenker's professional background in obstetrics and gynecology. As a Black woman, I find it alarming and disheartening that a physician whose professional background involves caring for women would communicate with a woman in such a dismissive, condescending, and seemingly authoritarian manner. Women, particularly Black women who have historically faced challenges in being heard and respected in healthcare settings, deserve professional treatment and dignity. I cannot speak to Dr. Shenker's intentions, but I can certainly speak to the manner in which he treated me. A physician in a leadership position should demonstrate patience, professionalism, emotional restraint, accountability, and a genuine willingness to listen. My experience with Dr. Shenker reflected the opposite. I contacted hospital leadership seeking assistance with a problem. Instead, I encountered a physician whose behavior became an additional problem. This was a deeply disappointing experience that raises serious concerns for me about professionalism, communication, and accountability within hospital leadership.
