I'm certain Christopher Love is exceptional at hundreds of things, but when it comes to yoga and…read morelive music he really shines. I take yoga on Tuesdays at Grace Cathedral (http://www.yelp.com/biz/yoga-on-the-labyrinth-san-francisco#hrid:160f3GiKVjbIKH0WFJjwmQ/src:self) where Chris is a regular music guest, and occasional sub for Darren. Last week was one of those weeks where Chris subbed in. The experience of doing yoga with hundreds of people in a cathedral is always awe-inspiring. Chris' lesson aided in raising that energy to a place I have never experienced. My practice felt out of body. I was overwhelmed by the amount of ease in my postures, a lift that felt absolutely effortless. Chris is a gifted teacher.

All You Need is Love…read more Christopher Love. Back when I was a wee little yogini, I discovered my need/love of yoga through this gifted teacher. We rarely chatted, but he would magically bring up a topic at the beginning of class that was personally timely for me and then spin it through a perspective that was so damn smart and positive ... I mean, people - it was LIKE, he really KNEW me, you know? (tears of joy) I would leave his classes all dewy and blissed out. He busted out with a challenging vinyasa, but always dispensed succinct instruction with a strong, calm voice. It's the kind of voice you want to follow you around all day. He left his post at Yoga Tree at the end of '07, I think. And I was sad. Now, after a hiatus of something like a year or so, he's back in action, only at a different studio - Mission Yoga's glorious Sun Room (20th and Mission) *** "Power Slow" Fridays at 6pm Sundays at 9am.*** These days it seems like his style of vinyasa has mellowed a bit, but he will still kick your ass if you ask nicely. :) What I love about these new classes: - World-class teacher who isn't a megalomaniacal diva = a REAL yoga teacher. - Not crowded! Woohoo! - Mellow, not competitive: people aren't all about showing off in their $90 lululemon tops doing pretzel-y moves before class. - Not hippie/culty! - Recession-friendly! By donation / Pay what you can! - He's great with taking time to answer your questions, or show you a cool pose that will help you with your general everyday issues. Christopher Love is the bomb diggity, y'all. And I hear he's a great counselor/therapist as well.
