my bf's dad lives nearby in Eygalieres, so while planning for our trip, I asked him, "where's your…read more FAVORITE restaurant in the south of France?" and he said "it's this old barn that's been renovated, the food is really good, I'd give it 5 stars". my bf, is critical of everything, and has never rated anything a 5 stars.... so of course, we had to try this place for my birthday lunch! and I completely agree! The place is gorgeous inside! we came in last week, and ate inside/outside, so we had a nice cross breeze and ambiance. They have 2 fixed menus, lunch or dinner. for the lunch menu, you get an appetizer, a main and a dessert, AND 2 glasses of wine (red or white) and espresso to finish. all for a VERY reasonable price. this place is Michelin recommended. and deservedly so. you get 2 choices for each dish. the bf and I got the same, and his dad got the shrimp appetizer. pictures to follow. :) fresh Ravioli with mushrooms and parmesan - amazing! Light, uber fresh ravioli pasta, we couldn't get enough of this beurre blanc sauce it came with. we sopped up all the sauce w/ the bread. Lamb. 2 slices of lamb loin, with creme freche wrapped in eggplant, with fingerling potatoes. *these are french potatoes that are lighter than their american counterparts*. Vanilla bean ice cream with meringue cookies and raspberry compote. I'm not a meringue girl, they usually leave a funny feeling on my tongue that i dislike. BUT, the almond meringue cookies they had here, were amazing! I ate 1.5 cookies! (bf only ate 0.5 cookies. i happily finished it off) Banana and chocolate crepe with vanilla bean ice cream. You can tell they make the ice cream on site. 2 glasses wine. Coffee and water. Great price! This place has GREAT value for Amazing food. I have a new favorite place for the south of france too! I will have to come back every time we visit his dad!

Service is welcoming and accommodating for my poor attempt at culinary French terms. The Chef even came out to answer questions at three occasions. First up, a trio of amuse bouches called land and sea. I don't typically like foie gras but this was incredible. I would actually order this again if ever back in Avignon. The Parmesan biscuit was technically amazing, with such subtle flavor, crispy on the outside, and soft, light and creamy inside. The mushroom "egg roll" was crispy, flaky with great umami. The Jerusalem artichoke risotto was my absolute favorite; I'll likely dream of this dish and try to replicate the recipe. It's unlike anything I've had before, so creative, unique and insanely delicious. The artichokes were cooked perfectly , tender but still firm. The risotto was actually a thick, creamy foam, packed with bold creamy flavor and truffles on top. The sea bream was glistening with the crispiest skin, along with carrots and a silky champagne sauce. The veal was so tender with the most delightful sweet onion tart. The tart was surprisingly good with the best onions I've ever had. Kudos to the chef for shopping the market everyday for the freshest and highest quality products! The scallops were sliced beautifully and were balanced so well with the acidity of raspberries and pomegranates. We started out with the strongest amuse bouches, and Chef didn't disappoint from there, maintaining and exceeding our palette's expectations. Chef Mohamad deserves a Michelin rank!!

Went back today and there must have been a change in owner and direction. The food was mediocre, there were only two wait staff for the entire restaurant and they could not keep up. The place was not full and they were turning people away which was good because they couldn't handle the volume as it was. We ordered the wine pairing, the wine server never brought our last wine, the other server apologized and brought us a liquor that was quite sad. Unfortunate because they still have a beautiful courtyard.
