Pal Camp is just above Freshwater Park on your way to Kneeland. Each week campers spend at least…read moreone afternoon at the freshwater park 'pool'. Kids are separated into groups by age, and do different age appropriate activities. Drop off is at 8:30. It's a drive thru drop off since there is very limited parking and the access is a single lane road. Pick up is at 3:30 and there is usually a long ass line of cars, all idling, waiting for their turn to swing thru and pick up their child. This is not a camp for working parents. Accommodations for parents who need to be at work by 8, and get off at 4:30 are expensive. Also there is no extended care on Thursdays when camp doesn't start until 1pm. So if you send your kid to this camp, be prepared to take time off work to drop off and pick up at appropriate times. Or set it up so you can share the driving with a friend who is also attending Pal Camp. Sleepover camp out on Thursday night is for 4th graders and older. Thursday night potluck dinner and program is delightful. Bring a comfy chair and blanket. The facilities are worn and could really use an upgrade. All that being said, I hold true to my 5 stars. This camp has the 'camp feel' I grew up with. A beautiful outdoor setting, well trained and fun staff and a feeling that your kid wasn't just cared for, but had an experience. An experience they will always remember.

ZERO Stars. I had my daughter (14 y.o.) enrolled as a junior counselor for 3 separate weeks. This…read morewas her first time (first day) at camp. She was accused of blatantly disregarding a camp counselor telling her not to walk to my car vs wait to be picked up and was subsequently kicked out of camp for all 3 weeks. She was devastated. She did not understand why she was kicked out of camp. I had mistakenly thought camp provided lunch. She had no food or water all day. No one noticed and she was too shy to ask. She was starving and thirsty by the end of the day and probably feeling a bit desperate to get to me. She told me her counselor clearly did not like her. She adamantly denies disregarding her camp counselor and said she thought the counselor said "OK". She has never been in trouble at school or anywhere else for that matter. Camp was an attempt to get her out of her shell. It completely backfired on me. Now she is home alone all summer because I have to work. Their punishment to eject her for their perceived blatant disrespect is extreme and they did not take into consideration how this would affect her emotionally. The best course of action would have been a discussion with her and I and an opportunity to correct the problem. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this camp. I received 1 phone call from the camp director and 1 email from another counselor attacking her character, both outrageous, unkind and misconstrued interpretations of my daughters shyness, taking her social awkwardness for an attitude problem. I have reached out further and they are ignoring my letters. I also included the board of directors. No responses for over a week now. Big huge "F-" for Pal Camp.
