There's 2 running tracks, 2 play areas for kids but I strongly recommend the wooden playground for the kids to enjoy including slides & swings, tons of space if you feel like having a family picnic or just taking a nap under the trees. If you like running or walking you have to come give this park a try. Sadly it's not a pet friendly place, I understand, you don't want to step or sit on unwanted pet's presents but it's always nice to have a place to exercise & have a good, fun day with your pet. Maybe there could be a pet friendly gated area?

It's such a cool park and awesome to see and be apart of the community culture in Oaxaca.

After living in Canada is hard to enjoy parks here, but surprisingly we do enjoy Colosio Park…read moreeverytime we visit with our son. There's basketball & voleyball courts but be sure to bring your own balls. If you like running/walking there's a 600m race track, it has flat parts, uphill & downhill so you do get a good exercise (this is always the last part we visit with our son and we know for sure he'll be sleeping a couple minutes after we get in the car). Don't forget to bring your kids to the wooden forts, but be careful with one of the slides, it's in a weird position and I never let my son go there, it looks too dangerous (it's a yellow slide but it looks like it's missing a piece). A few times we've met other foreigners there with their families, so it's always nice to know you're not the only one not speaking spanish there. There's a soccer field, some equipment to exercise with your own body weight, bathrooms, a small place with books & toys for children, a little store to buy drinks & snacks, and they even have yoga & other classes for free. If you have pets, don't even think about bringing them, this is a no pet park.

We don't come very often cause it's on a main road, so there's the pollution issue, specially considering a lot of buses drive by, and many of them don't have proper maintenance which makes it even worse. Another thing is like a lot of parks in Oaxaca is not dog friendly, we love our dog and like taking her on adventures with us so that's why we prefer going for walks to the mountain, clean, fresh air & 100% dog friendly. We do come at least once a month cause this place brings us beautiful memories, this park & Colosio is where our son started walking, plus he loves coming for a spin in the carrousel, which is open after 5pm.

This was a fun surprise on our vacation. The park was much larger than we thought and had more to…read moresee than the website seemed to imply. I believe we spent a little over 2 hours total with our private tour. There are many structures including a main temple and a ball court. There is also a path through preserved forested area up the hillside looking over where the river meets the ocean. Definitely worth the hike up there, especially since gusts of wind greet you. I suggest going early in the morning to beat the heat and rush. We did a tour with Mario who was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The site is run by INAH. It was $6 (US) per person to get in and a tour guide was extra. Non-Spanish speakers: the museum only has wording in Spanish. The signs on the campus have both English and Spanish but I still suggest a guide for more information.

Come to Copalita for the nice walking trails, not for the opportunity to see ancient ruins up…read moreclose. I've been to several of these parks in Mexico, and this is the first time the ruins have been roped off and only visible from a distance. Some of them were active dig sites, so it was understandable that visitors couldn't walk up to them, but others made no sense. There was good information at each site, and stone had been laid on the trails, making them easily walkable. Also: we saw a troop of coati mundis! It was a serious highlight. They are so cute!
