Kind of away from I-84 to the west but still on the old main drag near old U.S. 30 before it turns to the north in this economically stagnant old town. But the food is very tasty. It's small and a bit dated but acceptable with Mexican music playing. Our server was no-nonsense and not too attentive but was very responsive when asked. The food was very good with a large selection including seafood dishes. The Camerones Mexicanos was one of the most delicious mexican seafood dishes I have ever tasted. The shrimp were large and fresh with green peppers, mushrooms, and onions all seasoned superbly. The Pollo Al Mojo De Ajo was also delicious, except the chef forgot to add mushrooms and we weren't compenstated for that. Our server could have checked on us earlier and resolved the problem then. The rice was moist and tasty but the refried beans were way too salty. The salsa was chunky and watery but had a great taste. I recommend this mexican restaurant, it has an extensive menu and the food is very good. We'll stop by again when in the area. read more

We were the only ones in the restaurant. Server was friendly, service was good, prices reasonable by today's standards, food was OK at best. Chips were seasoned, which I personally don't prefer, salsa was watery. Combo meal (three items) did not come with rice & beans. When I asked, I was told some combos do, some don't, which seamed odd. Food arrived lukewarm. Taco and enchilada were fine, chili relleno was tough and overly breaded and not hot. I would not recommend. There has to be better Mexican food in Ontario. read more

After reading some of the reviews from the pandemic era, I recently went to Los Potrillos for the first time and wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was hot, fresh, and authentically delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Pollo Ranchero. The salsa was also a highlight. The portions are generous; the daiquiri was huge. Service was prompt, and the staff was friendly. My only gripe is that the menu is sprawling, like the restaurant is trying to do too much, so I just got the special, which was a good choice. When restaurants try to do everything to please everyone, they usually would be better off choosing to do a few things well. Overall, I found Los Potrillos to be a satisfying experience. read more

Overall the food was authentic and tasty, generous portions and very fresh. The service was ok. To begin with we were some of the first people to arrive for lunch, but as more people came in, it began to feel more hospitable. By the time we left, the atmosphere was very welcoming and warm. The inside of the building was painted to replicate Mexican architecture. After you sit down and look around, take in your surroundings you realize that you have stepped into an authentic Mexican Restaurant. The food was totally authentic Mexican cuisine. Stopped by for a quick beer and was pleasantly surprised! The beer was so cold it had little bits of ice on top! They generously serve chips, salsa and really good bean dip as well. The menu look good, I'll be sure to come hungry next time. read more

It is hard to get meatless food at a Mexican restaurant but they have the best Chili Rellenos in town. That's all I can review.

I went in here with some pals. After seeing what was being served to some of the other amigos who were eating I passed on the food and just had coffee. The coffee was marginal, nothing special. Nothing as far as atmosphere to write home about. Service was in between slow and non existent. When we left there my pals said they didn't like anything they ordered and would not go back. We had been here once before, I would not have gone back had it not been for my husband receiving a gift to Los Potrillos. I have to say that THIS TIME we were pleasantly surprised. THOUGH they were really short staffed, we were greeted promptly, given chips/salsa & offered drinks. It took a few minutes to order but once we did we got hot, fresh, & yummy food! It was a far different experience and we would go back again in the future. The only problem, if you can call it that...it did take a long time to get the "waiter, greeter, bar host, kitchen helper's" attention to get our check. He was quite busy and juggling many hats. This was the best Mex food I've had. Now let's be clear: I'm a gourmand--not a Mex gourmet. In descending order of favorites, I favor: German, Hungarian, Russian, French, VN, Thai, Mex, Chinese. Which is also the ascending order of availability. I had the combo tamale and chili verde. And a horchata. Interesting flavors in there. Nice guys. And a mariachi band at 1pm on a Sunday!! I went in for takeout. I was friendly and provided a good tip for the takeout service. Food was okay, but the personal treatment I received was cold and unwelcoming. I tried to be more friendly as a result but I continued to get the cold shoulder. This completely ruined the experience for me. This is in a small town which is normally a friendly place where people greet strangers with a welcoming smile. We went to this restaurant last night and I have never seen anything like it in my life. We were the only customers in the restaurant. Once we were seated, the server brought a pitcher of water and menus and left them on the table. She never came back. We waited twenty minutes and nothing. We ate the chips and drank the water. On the way out-husband asked if we owed anything for the water and chips-she said no. No apology or anything. If you want free water and chips, go there. If you actually want to eat and drink, probably should skip this place. I have no idea how they stay in business. read more

First and last time in. Food was luke warm and very bland. Service was horrible. It always bothers me when you say "thank you" to a waiter for refilling your water and they don't respond at all. Especially when it happens more than once. No one ever came back and asked how the food was or if we needed anything else, just came back after 30 minutes and dropped the bill and walked away.
