Though you don't come to a steakhouse to eat salad! You get the typical red/green marker turn over. Meat comes even when the red side is up so you get to say "no" quite a bit. The variety of lamb, beef, pork, sausage and even chicken hearts is endless. At one point I had to say "no" because I had meat on my plate and I didn't need more before I finished. The spices they use as rubs are unbelievable and the garlic meats are a garlic lovers dream. Maybe not your companions friends but who cares! They had some delicious looking dessert which I did not try because I was full. I also didn't try any of the side dishes that came around to the table by the non-meat waiters. I stole a french fry from my coworker and it was crispy but not to my North American taste but you can see why people would like it. Everything said and done it came out to 115R per person in our 5 person group just soda and no alcohol for lunch. Another nice thing is the drive takes you out of town and along the lake so the drive is nice and scenic. Worth going to just to get out of the hustle and bustle of Brasilia city even if only for an hour it was nice to get out.

The service of meats is constant and many times I had to say no because I had a plate full of meat. The lamb was out of this world and I should have got more because I did not see it again while we were there. The salad bar and sides station are also great with many choices of sushi, salads, cheese, and cold cuts. The staff was there at every corner to get you a plate for return trips to the salad bar or clean your dirty plates from the table. The atmosphere was very calm and you could definitely have a great conversation without interference. We didn't get desserts but I saw the others in the restaurant and it made me want to try it next time. The presentation of the desserts were amazing. We finally ended the meal with a digestive limoncello type of alcohol that was a block of ice with a spout. We had alcohol, salad bar and meat. We managed to pay about R$140 or US dollars $38per person

A colleague of mine from Norte America was in town with me for some meetings with one of our…read moreclients. It was his birthday and we got together to go out to lunch and were told to try Potencia do Sul out. First off, if you go by Uber the address doesn't seem to compute right (as most addresses here in Brasilia take you to the wrong place for some reason). As any churrascaria the food was awesome. Well seasoned and if you need rare "mal passado" you can get it. First off, the salad bar is huge just as any other churrascaria I've been to. The meats come at you from all sides. They had a brisket type meat that is served off a platter the waiter cuts from that you have to try. It isn't on a skewer so watch for this guy and get it. The most tender cut of brisket and so well seasoned. Damn I wish I could bring some home. It would make an awesome rueben. But I digress. After all that food they have a HUGE dessert bar. Like really huge. If I didn't want to watch my weight I would have avoided it all together. At least I only went once. Avoid the mousses and go for everything else up there. I was told we could get my colleague a free dessert by telling them it is his birthday but that would have meant a song and dance we saw for at least 3 other tables. At 52 years old we are past that. But he had a great meal and so did I. It was nice to be able to venture a bit out of town and try something we normally probably would have passed on. Very well done Potencia!

The churrascaria (Brazilian barbecue) game in any city in Brazil is serious business. If you're a…read moregringo like me, you're probably familiar with the grilled meat table service dining from the American version of gauchos you can find in more touristy spots in the USA, or in select cities that have major Brazilian populations. If you happen to be in Goiania, and you're looking to be impressed and delighted by an authentic Brazilian barbecue experience, you need look no further than Gramados. First of all, there are two Gramados locations in Goiania, the one I visited was in Setor Oeste, near the Park with the Zoo, and I visited on a Tuesday night, so your experience might vary. I'm familiar with most of the better offerings in town, and as far as rodizio (rotating grilled meat table service), most of them have their drawbacks. Not this spot, at least if you're able to hit them up on a non-holiday weekday. The layout was cozy, but not too small, and the spaces between tables was adequate for moving between the table and the buffet, which can be awkward at some places that seem more interested in cramming as many customers in as possible instead of their comfort. Also, the extra room allows their excellent staff to quickly move through the room, offering cut after cut of delicious, tender meat efficiently. The staff were mostly young, but very enthusiastic and really very accommodating with a few special requests that demonstrated that extra effort that you aren't likely to get in a more crowded dining situation. Even though we took an Uber (which for some reason would have cost an extra 70% to the door than the hospital 2 safe-walking blocks away), parking was adequate, very secure parking under the roof around the waiting area just outside the door and they even have a lot across the street for overflow, which I imagine would be handy on the weekend. We waited less than 10 minutes without a res for just the two of us, but they had tables set up for larger parties, and there were a surprising number of people celebrating birthdays, even a wedding the night we visited. It was a little difficult to decide on Gramados when hunting for a restaurant, maybe they got on the wrong side of google, but you can check out their insta at churrascariagramado, and if you're old school and need more info, give them a call. My wife, who is Brazilian and speaks Portuguese, was impressed after calling around, finding out that many of the other churrascarias in town don't offer their full menu on weekdays. We would have been a little disappointed if we had missed the very fresh seafood offerings, the sushi, or the very satisfying desserts. There were so many delights to mention, but we have a hard time not raving whenever we can find one of our favorites, grilled lamb, and they actually had two different cuts of lamb the night we visited. I had a plate of perfectly snackable sushi, and usually I can get through two plates of the buffet while being bombarded with meat. On the night I went, the pace of meat was so frenetic, I was only able to sample the salads and cold offerings from the buffet. My wife was able to resist more meat than I, and she attests that the hot offerings from the buffet and seafood were top notch as well. Usually, I don't drink and buffet, but they had a decently stocked bar cart and coke in the glass bottles, so nobody's taste for imbibing is likely to be disappointed. You might be tempted to check out one of the newer barbecue places in town that open up with some promotional gimmick or a lower price, but I guarantee you won't find the consistent top quality of a place with a history like Gramados, and you won't get anywhere near the value. For the price of a middling Chinese buffet in the US, you're getting all-you-can eat top quality cuts of beef and a buffet that compares favorably to any Brazilian-American franchise you might be familiar with, that you would pay at least 4 or 5 time more for in the US. I would say Gramados even compares well to upscale churrascarias in Brasilia that cost almost twice as much, and the more intimate setting and the service actually made me feel more comfortable here. All-in-all, if you're looking for a top-value, traditional Brazilian barbecue dining experience, you'd have a difficult time finding better in Goiania, the atmosphere and service push it over the top compared to the other places in town I've visited, and we'll definitely make this location our go-to when we're looking for any anytime treat.

There is really not much here but the government. But I suspect this is nothing like the ones you get in the States. First of all, the salad bar is massive. The amount of selections - I could just eat that and be done with it. They have traditional old slave food. Basically stewed pork, beans and rice. Delicious. I couldn't stop eating the salad bar selection, that by the time they walked around with the meats I was confused. More food? More beef, chicken hearts, and more cuts of beef. Amazing meat but apparently not as good as Argentina, which I know, with this job, I'll be going also to Argentina for more good meats. The restaurant is located next to the car wash / gas station. I mean "THE" car wash, where major money laundering scandal took place where some very prominent people were indicted. I think that's where Breaking Bad got the idea, or vise versa? Don't forget to take a picture when you are done. And absolutely come here to eat. This is not the U.S. chain.

The interior decor appears more westernized with a Brazilian flair. The cuts of meat are much larger and Im drinking Guarana in the country where it is produced. For about 5 guests, I paid about $250 including desserts and drinks. That's less than what we pay for at Fogo's in CA. The rodizio consists of the same salad/appetizer bar, pao dequiejos (cheese bread) and about 10-12 cuts of meat. The Picanha is my favorite. Could not get enough of it. Restrooms are via elevator to the second floor. Clean but not so well lit. Parking is at the empty lot next to the building. Make prior reservations because it gets full. Or, come early. The place gets full quickly.
