I got a whole bag and a cocoa to go. My Chocolate con cacao fermentado was delicious. The staff member made it fresh with the traditional beater in pot. It was silky and decadent, rich chocolate. And it had a lovely grain from coarsely ground cacao nibs. I've never welcomed a texture like that but I now yearn for it.

This Mercado has certainly changed for the better over the years. I have visited this Mercado many…read moremany times and it's an open market that houses many vendors. There's people that sell dairy (cream, milk, etc) there's the carniceros (butchers), those that sell produce, fresh juice stands, etc. You'd be surprised what you find at this mercado (market) I found some cute items for loved ones here as well as decorations for my home. There's a multitude of vendors housed within the market and outside of the market as well. There's mini restaurants as well and the food here that I've tried is as authentic as it gets. Just when buying items be cautious and remember to check for the items you paid for. On one of my visits to the mercado I bought some papaya for my grandma and I was very scatter brained on trying to figure out what ingredients I needed to get for the meal I intended to cook that day. Upon getting to grandma's I realized the lady I bought papaya from never gave me the papaya. I had paid for all my items (I bought multiple produce from her) The next day I went to the same produce stand but the lady was not there and without evidence the other lady refused to give me a papaya. It's not until now that I'm reviewing footage that I see that I did in fact ask for the papaya (hubby said I did not, I did) and I had footage I could have showed the other lady as proof. Anyways just double check that you get the items you pay for and enjoy this authentic mercado if you happen to be nearby. The price of meals are so affordable markets like this and usually delicious! Just buy bottled water and you're good.
