Given that I live in a state which doesn't even trust me with purchasing beer from my seat at a professional baseball game it's understandable that I get preternaturally excited by states like Hawaii, where no-fee BYOB is encouraged. To run across something like Los Mendozitos just hammers home the point: California's alcohol laws could use some revision.
Los Mendozitos is a food truck in the same way that your neighborhood pub is a restaurant. Specializing in the wines of Mendoza, this truck was stumbled upon outside of a high-end clothing store in São Paulo. Parked on the corner, with a little set-up of tables and chairs which nobody was using, my arrival here was somewhat like Norm's on Cheers. Let's just say that the group of people bellying up to Los Mendozitos were having quite a good time.
Wine here - for that is all that's offered - is available by the plastic glass or by the bottle, intended for consumption right there on the corner or wherever it is you find this truck. Can you say mobile party? This is a concept whose time has come, albeit to Brazil.
You can never tell when you'll feel like taste-testing wines from Argentina's Mendoza region. If you come across this truck though? It's time. read more
