We stumbled across this place because it was open late and looked interesting. We've been eating…read more(wonderful) local traditional foods for weeks and it was nice to mix things up for a change. We got the Sofia pizza and really enjoyed it. I got a refreshing strawberry, lime, spearmint drink that I think had mojito in the title. We really liked the ambiance; the second floor had a nice vibe. (We didn't see much of the first floor.) We even got lucky and caught a narrow balcony table, from which we enjoyed the night street scene... including, oddly, a pet pig being loaded from a wagon into the back seat of a car. The one drawback was service. Our server was very friendly and we really liked him; it's just that we saw so little of him...... It takes us a while to read the menu so we had to ask for a few more minutes, and then he just never came back. We waited and waited, and I finally had to go in from the balcony and flag someone down. Fortunately, we were in a really good mood and not in a hurry so it didn't really bother us. But then, the same thing happened again after we finished our meal; I had to go in and flag someone down to ask for our check. And then a third time (!!!), after I'd asked for the check, noone came with it and we waited and waited and waited and waited......... When I stuck my head in this time, the server (the one I had asked for the check, not our original one, who had vanished) was just standing against the wall, with his hands folded in front of him, looking at the room. He kind of started when he saw me. I genuinely think they forgot us. Three times. It was pretty bewildering, to be honest. And resulted in a shift in our mood. Great location since it's down the street from the Zocalo…read more This location is just down 3 Oriente from the Zocalo which can be recognized by the gelato stand they have right at the entrance. As a tourist the one thing you want to avoid is having Pizza (is not an authentic Mexican dish) but from time to time one craves the flat pie we call pizza. I was surprised to see the place being open at an later time than other pizzerias. It seems like everyone tries to close by 8 or 9 pm but Yelao was open a bit later than others which was nice for us tourist who go out all day to visit this great city and all you want is to come back to a familiar meal. The place was clean and the young lady in the front was extremely nice and convincing that this place had really good food. As we decided to get our meals to go it was to a shock that the kitchens is not right in the back of the establishment, we found out when my aunt tried to order one of thie burgers and who seemed to be the manager had to "phone in the kitchen" to verifies they still had that item. The way things were handle were just plain white or black meaning there is NO addition to their menu only subtractions. It was fine and all, they did warned us that it could take up to 15 minutes for our food to arrive which it did and maybe even faster. Once our meals were sent to the kitchen, we forgot to get drinks to go since their drinks are more of a specialty. I was so disappointed to be ignored by the staff and manager for a good 5 minutes. I was standing right in front of them on the other side of the counter and yet no one had the decency to take my order. Such a poor service. Overall this place has good food and drinks. Not sure if I would be back for a stay-in service. The 4 stars are for the food, drinks and the young lady who was so nice enough to explain the menu to us. As for management = 0!
