Popped in a little before closing after a night out and they were surprisingly accommodating! I ordered a carne asada burrito with beans and it was HEFTY! Not greasy, not fatty. Just a solid burrito. The salsas at the salsa bar were also SO GOOD! I look forward to the next time I'm in the area so I can stop by.

The location itself could definitely use some work, especially since it is by a busy street and the entrance is very small, but besides that, good spot to order Mexican food from. A bit pricey but the portions are hefty and I'd say worth the price. My asada fries were tasty, meat is good, it is just missing a few components that I would've liked to see on my plate (pico de gallo, sour cream, maybe beans). I'd say the food is pretty good overall.

I'm mainly rating this place 5 stars on their Carne Asada Fries alone. The fries still had a crisp by the time it was delivered to my home. I don't know if it's originally included but I added pico de gallo to the order and it was so delicious. The birria plate was tasty and packed with a lot of meat! The restaurant is small and located on the corner of a busy street but there's a lot of parking available and adequate indoor seating.

Their chile relleno plate comes with two rellenos. And they were delicious.

This was our first visit here in many years, and definitely since they changed names and ownership in early 2023. This location has always been primarily Mexican food as far back as I can remember, 1980 (?), but has changed owners too many times to count. My on-going passion for finding good chile rellenos got the best of me today, and I discovered they do make rellenos here. Unfortunately, with so few reviews, no one so far had mentioned whether Los Armandos' were good or bad. Guess that it was going to be left up to me. And today, it was time. While the rellenos were slightly smaller than many I've seen, there were two of them per order, tender, good batter, nicely filled with melty cheese, and covered in a nice chunky, home-style sauce. They were plated with rice, refried beans, lettuce, pico de Gallo. The guacamole was fresh and good. Too bad the beans and rice were disappointing, lacking in flavor. The rest was delicious. We also ordered two shredded beef tacos, durado style. Perfect! They were full sized and contained a generous amount of moist, shredded beef, topped with crisp lettuce and yellow shredded cheese. Very tasty, especially with a drizzle of their house, spicy green salsa. We did not go inside. They have a drive-thru window that is quite handy, with a minor wait. No matter, everything was freshly cooked and still hot, and the cashier girl was delightful. Our meals totaled $24. Overall, this was a nice, first impression. I look forward to returning.

Food, service. My torta was fresh and hot along with my fries. My order was a delivery what more can you ask for?

Bacon? the ham is like sliced ham. How cheap are they they dont even use the good thick ham.tasted like chinese food not even a good flavor.

Wouldnt come back here 13$ breakfast burritos is crazy. NO EGG THEY FORGOT. Not good at all. How you forget egg in a breakfast burrito. Sliced ham? Thats cheap. Go to a store the sliced ham farmer john is 1/8 the cost of good ham off the bone. They are cheap. Worst breakfast burrito. Idk who even orders here you are stuck and no where else for go. Im a driver so i drive spot to spot all over so cal. This is forsure worst burrito i tried yet. Tasted and smells like chinese food. How? Idk

Expected this to be DELICIOUS, nope; DRY DRY DRY

We were recommended this place by my fiancé's coworker. Drive through was busy and inside had a few Hispanic customers today (Sun 11/10) so I figured this place MUST BE LEGIT, right?? Wrong!!! Let me tell you, food was NOT good at all (mine anyway; fiancé enjoyed their burrito though) . Order: 1 Quesabirria Taco w/ consome. #1 3 mini tacos (asada) combo and 1 machacha burrito. So they get 1 gold star for successfully making a tasty Machacha burrito. From the look of my plate and smell of the food, I really expected such a great experience that would have me begging for more. But instead, I'm running in the opposite direction!! The meat on the mini taco combo AND birria were extremely dry with no flavor - wet sand probably has more flavor. I'm actually mad I wasted money on this food, should've just ordered rolled tacos - there's no way they could mess that up. They forgot my consome so we had to go back, went back and forth with the lady telling us we weren't charged for it but it was on our receipt. Then she admitted she didn't understand what the other cashier had input as the order so she just ignored it (???). Consome had 0 flavor that you'd expect & taste like reheated orange oily water with sprinkled onions and cilantro. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and would not come back here after spending $30 on garbage.

The food at Los Armando's is as good it needs to be for this most typical of taco stands. I tried an adobada taco, a carne asada taco and a carnitas taco . While they were freshly built to order the meats tasted a little old and reheated on the plancha. The little salsa bar was a nice touch as their salsa was quite punchy and spicy. They had the usual suspects available on the salsa Bar . A chile onion mix, carrots en escabeche, radish slices, and the tacos came with grilled onions and a fried guero chile. Not bad not great. Service was fast and friendly and they had a drive through window. Ambiance was well worn and outdated. In a pinch it was fine.

The octopus was tender and delicious with a heat that built up slowly. The bed of greens was a little over dressed but delicious. The burrito was very good. It sat for a bit while I ate the octopus so it got a little soggy. It had a lot of steak much to my surprise. The presentation of both dishes was exceptional. In my experience, Corona doesn't have many restaurants that produce high quality food and deliver. I'm glad to have discovered Maiz Cocina. I'll be back.

The bartender took our drink order, and we received chips and salsa, which were very good. However, the bartender seemed a bit distracted, forgot about us, even though it wasn't a busy night. We decided to give it another chance since so many people seem to enjoy this place. We visited again, and we ordered a few drinks, received chips and salsa, then placed our food order. We waited for a bit and ordered a few more drinks. Unfortunately, after waiting about an hour, we never received our meal or any update on its status. We eventually decided to close out our bill. At that point, we noticed we had been charged for the meal we never received, as well as drinks that were not served. When we brought this to the bartender's attention, they raised their voice and told us we were wrong, which caught us by surprise. I understand that things can get busy, but a lack of communication and being spoken to disrespectfully is unacceptable. A simple check-in or update would have made a big difference. Based on this experience, we're unlikely to return. We really wanted this to work, but maybe you had to be regular customer to get better service?! We tried, but this place is a solid No for us.

It's always clean and well taken care of inside as well. Let's get to the food. My favorite here is the Al pastor. Seasoned and marinated to perfection. It's by far some of the best I've had in Cali. Never under or overcooked. It's just right! Asada. Again, marinated to perfection. Perfectly cooked. Never over cooked. The flavor is there. They've got a great salsa bar. Onion & cilantro Red and green salsa ( red is the best here ) Plenty of lemons They've even got grilled onions and jalapeños at the salsa bar. Overall would I recommend this place? Absolutely.
