I'm late for posting my review but Stay away from this place. Husband and my teenager went for hair cuts on 5/25. The older gentleman who did my son's cut did an awful job. Not only he caused the cut on his ear, but he did an awful job. He had spots where he still missed shaving on the back. I finished doing it at home. My husband and my son have been coming to this place for over 2 years they loved this place but after wat happened today we will no longer be coming back, today Monday April 29th 2024 my husband and son decided to get a haircut around 4:30pm after waiting over two hours they never attended to them, when you walk in they have a notebook that requires you to sign in after doing so they still would let anyone that would walk in go before us, I called there attention and the lady that was there acted dumb and pretended she didn't know after she had sat a guy down that had just walked in so we decided to wait for the other guy that was cutting hair shortly after a guy walked in and sat him down and told us that it was his turn despite him JUST walking in. The people that are there working DO NOT CARE! They should hire PROFESSIONALS! STAY AWAY from this barber!!! I didn't believe the 1-star reviews until I came today as a new customer. They may be good to you once or a few times, but your best finding a different spot and avoiding a bad experience like I had today. I got a dark heavyset barber with black glasses on who thought his phone calls were more important that my haircut. After I politely told him that I was in a hurry and if he could finish my hair, he proceeded to hang up and cut my hair, ONLY to tell me 2 minute into it that he had to call the guy back because he needed to give him some information. I got upset and asked him "Am I on your time or mine?" because apparently he didn't care that that I told him I was in a hurry. He didn't answer my question, but instead decided to threaten me by saying "Sir if you don't calm down, then I won't cut your hair and I will take my phone call". So am I in the wrong for saying something? I watched a ~5 minute scene on the TV, and once it went to commercials he was STILL on the phone. I initially thought his phone call was interrupting my haircut, but apparently my haircut was interrupting his phone call. I want to emphasize that he wasn't on his break, he never apologized for taking his call and being on the phone, and NEVER have I had a barber in all my years take that long on a personal phone call, only threaten to not cut my hair INSTEAD of at the very least apologizing to make the situation better. I left to another barber close by so that he could take his personal call, because apparently they were paying him + tip to cut my hair, not me. I wasn't going to waste my time risking him to freely take another personal call; I'm paying another barbershop my money who is respectful of their customer's time, and I will be telling everyone around me for the rest of my life, including friends and family, to stay away from this place and to instead go to one of the 6 other barbershops in Downey that I have had better experiences with AND that know appropriate customer service instead of threatening their customers. I hope that barber reads my review: If it's a customer or a personal call that needs to be taken for a couple minutes, then fine, excuse yourself and tell them you'll call back because your working on a customer. My husband hasn't got his haircut for a while so we decided to go to the barbershop the barber went to high on the top of my husband's head and left the line very crooked they also went to high on the faith and when I requested for a refund I was told that he was not charged for that line and he was not going to refund me my money they were rude and inconsiderate Not a place I would recommend at all read more

Hubs used to go to another local barbershop but they are often booked so he decided to try a different place. Came here and was not disappointed. I recently took my son in for a hair cut and he was satisfied with his hair cut. I cant recall the ladies name that ga e him the hair cut she was in the second chair( coming in from the Paramount Blvd entrance). Good Barber in every chair so no need to be scared of who's gonna cut you up. Also very barber like atmosphere. Everyone is really friendly! Robert is my go to, but if you're in a rush you can trust the rest of the guys and ladies there too. They are barbers who enjoy the job and take pride in their work. I always joke that you gotta go to the hood to get a good fade... this place is not in the greatest area, but definitely not bad, plus it's clean and the staff is very friendly. THIS PLACE SUX...I went to the los amigos in el monte and it was a disaster. I got there around 530pm and i was attended very quickly and some guy starting cutting my hair. I asked for a low fade with a 5 on top. After 2hrs, YES 2 HOURS i left with a high fade and unmatching number in the top. The left side was like a number 3 and the right side was a 5. Trust me I am not exagerating. I had to go home and buz my whole hair off cuz it was that bad. After one hour and like 30 min into the hair cut, some women came in and took over. She was actually pretty good and knew what she was doing but my hair was so messed up all she was trying to do is make the fade look good. There is so much you can do when you mess up a cut that bad. The funny thing is that all the barbers in the shop knew he messed up my fade and were all looking at me as if i had a rat on my head and the barber still had the nerve to charge me for the hair cut. I got there to get a haircut after a 12 hour shift, two guys come after me, one with a kid and got a haircut before me. Might not seem like a lot when they do like 15 min haircuts, and thats fast, but it makes a difference when they dont account for who's coming in and out of the shop. They call first whomever they are friends with, and you'll notice that when you come in for a haircut. The owner, who's also a barber there, wasn't working that day and he usually calls out people if the barbers call them out of order, but that day I spent a 1 1/2 hour waiting and I got frustrated because the second guy that was called before me, I didn't even get to protest because he was already prepped in the chair, came literally 5 mins before the guy before him finished. How do I account for the time, I watched "BATTLE LA" (116 mins total) on tv, started 20 mins into it and finished the whole damn thing and still wasnt called when I left. I've been going there for about 5 years now and I've always had good service and a reasonable wait but when you don't get considered for the time you wait that is not ok. I would have rated higher but they need to improve this part and not inconvenience loyal customers with friends who conveniently come in for their weekly haircut! read more
