as we drove through Pleasant Grove we noticed a man with a sandwich board peddling $1 tacos. I went in and ordered 4. then I waited for what seemed like forever, but was really just long enough to add 2 Compadres to Foursquare and Gowalla and check my email. the pork tacos were nice and spicy, but ultimately fell apart due to the lack of double tortillas. the beef was decent, but not entirely memorable. it also suffered from a sole tortilla per taco. not the best tacos, for a dollar each I suspect that I will find myself there again. Yes! This place! Street tacos with a condiment bar that isn't a cooler perched atop a short table. Great big, tall tumblers for your bottomless sodas. One time I had a tampaquena something or other with fajita veggies all covered in cheese with a side of beans. Good chips. Great atmosphere. Latino/Caucasian mix was about 50/50. The staff were 100% Latino. I look for things like that. Next door is a Mexican market. Some older senorita roped me in to buying this cup of crushed ice topped with a pecan syrupy goo. Thought I was getting a free sample. It was as adorable as it was delicious. Wish they were closer to my home in Sandy! Go! Eat! The chairs and tables are imported. There are big screen TVs. You'll hear people speaking Spanish. You'll love their food and prices. Don't be a fool and judge a book by its cover. This place is great! read more

Not sure why this place has 4 stars. I can usually trust Yelp reviewers but Los 2 Compadres was terrible. My wife and I got chicken enchiladas and they came out cold, not just lukewarm, but cold. The chicken had obviously been frozen. We told our host about it and all the cook did was put it under the broiler until the beans on the plate were burned and the cheese blackened. But this did no good for the frozen chicken inside. Still cold. Our son got a hot dog that was nuked so long that it turned to rubber. We'll never go back. read more

Authentic Mexican, "normal food." Good quality, good service, low prices, but not rock-bottom, for that you have to go where the meats aren't as good or the veggies as fresh. If you are looking for corporate, this isn't it, but if you want honest Mexican food at a fair price, you won't be unhappy. Unusual for Pleasant Grove, they serve beer and wine. Sports on big screen or music, a good vibe altogether. If you've eaten in Mexico or Southern CA, you will feel at home, even in Utah. read more

This place will rival any for its street tacos! The price is rock bottom compared to similar establishments. The flavors are authentic and beautiful. The tacos de carne asada, the al pastor, the Costilla (pork rib) are my favorite. I love that they have a salsa bar that is self service so you can decide how much cilantro goes on your taco. The variety of salsas is perfect, there are five different kinds. The salsa that is red is a bit on the spicy side so beware but the salsa verde and the avocado like salsa are delicious. There is a mexican tienda/store attached to the restaurant, in fact that is where you go to pay your bill. Great to find any authentic mexican ingredients or inexpensive produce. Try a "Gansito" while you are there, it is Mexico's version of the twinkle but tastier. Los 2 Compadres has become my new obsession. read more

You would never guess how cool this place is from the outside. But you walk in and it is like walking right into Mexico! There is s huge screen with a soccer game, authentic decor, traditional Latin music, and cozy whicker chairs and booths. I loved the atmosphere and it is the perfect place to have a big family gathering and watch a game! We have only got the $.99 street chicken, pork and beef tacos because they are that good! Their menu is huge, but we just crave those tacos. They have a little salsa bar to load up your tacos with pico and cabbage and then plenty of varying heat salsas. There is also a little store attached with a little Mexican market. So don't be fooled by the boring exterior and step inside! read more

Very good authentic Mexican. Feels like you're back in Mexico. Our favorite items are the fajitas, the tortas, the chimichangas, and their guacamole. The tacos are good too topped with their salsas, limes, cabbage etc. The place is clean and smells nice. The service was excellent. Our first experience a couple years ago wasn't as good. But recently it has been awesome. It's also fun to stop in the market next door after and pick up some Mexican snacks. read more

I typically use this place for groups of 30 people or more, because they have great tacos and prepare everything you need for a large group. Just make sure that you tell them to keep the tortillas hot but separate from the meat. Super cheap pricing, but high quality. read more

Awful experience!!! The shrimp was not deveined at all! I Ieft the plate untouched and they did not remove it off the bill. My husband ordered the sopes and the beef steak was not good either. The fresh fruit drinks are just water and sugar. We had already ordered when I realized they were not following any COVID guidelines. No masks, salsa buffet, no physical distancing, tables right next to each other, filthy bathrooms, and the list goes on. Los 2 Compadres is one of my favorite mexican restaraunts to go to. They have some of the best service, chips and salsa and tacos in Utah County. You can never really go wrong with anything on the menu. Tons of options and they sometimes have local music and bands playing. read more

It was my first time going to eat here and I tried a few street tacos and they were delicious! The al pastor was tasty! Great service, the waitress helped us right away. My boyfriend got a milanesa torta and that was tasty too. I loved the avocado in that torta. Also you get chips and salsa before you order! It was by far the best service! Thank you! read more

I JUST SAT IN GUM AT THIS PLACE!!! Imagine my surprise when I stand up to leave and my butt is stuck to the chair. Yep, I sat in gum and had to pry my pants off the chair in order to stand up. There are about two square inches of gum stuck to my ruined pants. I showed several employees and they went to go get the manager for me. After a couple of minutes of waiting, someone came out to tell me that the manager was gone and that they would call them and let them know. There's $40 I'll never get back, plus the cost of my ruined pair of pants. The food is good (although today it was not very hot when it came out) but the whole place is a pretty dingy. I would have been willing to give the restaurant another try if they had made an effort to make things right. I just got ignored instead. read more

You know those sketchy taco food trucks that are actually incredibly delicious? This is the sit down version of that. It doesn't feel near as sketchy and it's every bit delicious. Laughing at the people who say it's loud, of course it's loud. It has karaoke and serves alcohol. This isn't the place you Coke if you want to reconnect with someone. It's the place you come to eat delicious and gluttonous tacos and nachos and have a great time watching tv or people sing. We will be back and I highly recommend. If I had criticism it would be that the condiment bar needed to be restocked ( I had to scrape to get enough pico) and that there were dirty tables everywhere as there was one waitress who was doing everything. read more

I agree with the authenticity of the tacos here. I'm from Mexico and this totally gets the stamp of approval. The toppings bar is great because you get your food faster and then you can customize your tacos to your delight. The best part is the "buche" tacos, this is why I gave it 4 stars. Not only is the first place that I've been able to get them at but the buche meat was excellent. The tortillas are flimsy and are not too durable so it would be better with two but for $1 per carne asada taco I'm not going to complain. read more

I have been to Los 2 Compadres 4 times now trying to get a good sense of the restaurant before I wrote a review. The first time I went I talked to three young men waiting for their order. They raved about the food so I had high expectations. My food was to go. I sat and tried to be patient for someone to acknowledge my presence, the didn't so I asked for a menu. What seemed like forever and the waiter finally came over. I ordered our favorites, Chili Verde and Chili Relleno. I continued to chat with the boys there. The Chili Relleno was good but the Verde wasn't like any we have had from California to Utah but my husband said it tasted good but not as Verde. So three more visits and I get the same same ignore from the same waiter. No acknowledgement that I'm there. The fourth visit he was sweeping ok it's important to have it clean but again no acknowledgment. Doesn't he like grammas? Or white women? So after five minutes I walked up and asked him for a menu. He grunted and got me one. I looked it over, having been there three other times I was familiar. After watching the clock for 10 minutes I got on my phone, I could see a waitress eating in the kitchen. I called and she answered. She told me they were out of the one thing I wanted so I quickly went to a third pick. I told her I was calling from the dining room , she said it would be 20 minutes. That's reasonable. She brought it out and was confused because it was a call in and I'm sitting there with a menu. About 5 minutes after I ordered the waiter came to take my order and I told him I had called it in. He seemed to not understand. I explained. There was no apology or a thing he just turned on his heel and left. When the food came out the waitress was confused about the call in and talked to the cashier who spoke better English. We got that straightened out. Then I wanted to know did I get chips to go. If you're eating in you get them gratis. I have never walked out of a restaurant without a bag of them. I was told the could sell me some. I passed. Ok in 4 visits I have spent about $110. Ok the food is good, not a wow but I have found better 30 miles away and don't want to drive that far. I know there's a language difference and I want to support local small businesses but it's hard to enjoy the food with all the rest going on. Am I just not patient enough or what. Not going again. Others did seem to be enjoying the food. read more

Horrible! Too loud, poor service, gross food. The waitress only came once just to deliver the food and to drop off check. Had to get up and grab our own drinks. Never thOught I would have such bad experience at a restaurant. The food was really gross. Shrimp cocktail only had 4 shrimps and the tacos were super soggy and it was not authentic at all. I get better service and food at Taco bell. Don't recommend it at all. read more

Horrible service ! I called in to place my order since I was on my lunch break. When I should up 15 minutes later they did not even tell the cook I had placed my order. I order coptel de camaron con pulpo and I had to through it away. The shrimp tasted rotten the pulpo was not chewable, over cooked so it was similar to chewing plastic the juice was the same water they used to boil the ingredients. It smelled and tasted disgusting still after I added hot sauce and lemons to adjust the flavor. I found huge chunks of onions and onion peel. I paid 15-16 dollars for something that was gross and the pricing was wrong on their menu. I would be crazy if I ever consider them again. The name fits them way to big for the business they hold . read more

We went there for my mother in laws B-day, and it was not a good experience. The food was ok, we got the famous molcajete and the chicken was really dry. We had a party of 10 and we ordered 2 molcajetes and they brought one out and then literally 20 min later the other and our other guests food. The tacos that we ordered came out cold. Our waitress seemed like she hated her life, was rude and came back every 10-15 min, she never filled up drinks. Lastly, since our waitress was so bad we actually went to the kitchen to get our tortillas since she never brought them out. This was our experience, but I will never go back there again. read more

my in-laws are obsessed with this place and have taken my husband and I here for a few family dinners. the first two times i went it was pretty good, they ordered the large combo thing that had all different types of meat & vegetables that you could divide up & put into your own little tortilla, & i liked it a lot! unfortunately, the other 3-5 times i went i ordered street tacos & they were really not good, which i felt was weird. carne asada & al pastor are staple mexican meats, but they were always soggy & greasy. the bar with salsa & vegetables is pretty sad too. the last experience we had there was the worst, my tacos were bad but my husbands entire meal was baaaaaaadd. he ordered chicken enchiladas with rice & beans (again, staple, simple dish) but the beans & rice were both unusually soggy & the enchiladas were awful, the meat was watery & tasted like it came from a can, & there was hardly any cheese. his horchata tasted like plain rice milk, he asked the waitress for a new one that ACTUALLY had cinnamon in it. we thought she would have a new drink, but she came back out with a cinnamon shaker & handed it to him without a word! she was not interested in fixing it herself, & was too busy to get him a new one! there was only two other tables full in the entire restaurant, so it's not like she was busy- I thought that was uncalled for. she never returned to ask about our meals, just came back with the receipt 20 min later- again, she placed it on the table and walked away without saying a word (you pay at the register on your way out). she acted like she was offended that he didn't like his drink, but that's on her- not us. to summarize- my in-laws still love this place, but my husband and I won't ever go back- not even for family dinners that they pay for. my husband has gotten food poising at least twice, the service is awful, and they screw up simple dishes way too often. would not recommend to anyone. read more

This place is usually pretty good but I've only ever been on weeknights except for tonight when we went on a Saturday. We waited for 20 minutes before someone came to take our order and then waited for another hour for our food before we got up and left. They have been doing a terrible job on the food. There is no quality. Prices are high. The salad bar, has food chopped from a day before. Also the chips they serve with the salsa are stale no flavor. The lack of service from waitress sucks, no wonder they keep changing them. The only thing that I can say is that Sundays is ok, they have music. But in order to get a table is if you know someone or else you must wait for a while to get a table bit no one leaves since the live music is at 5. There is no reservation so like I said unless you know someone you get treated VIP. The place can use a major clean up as well too. I can go on and on. read more

I went here for the first time yesterday with my friend because she said this place had the best street tacos. I wanted to try the enchiladas instead because the tacos didn't sound good to me. When they brought out my meal it looked pretty good, but it wasn't. The enchiladas were small, the beans had a weird bland flavor, and the rice was hard and dry. I don't think I'll come back.
