The food at Loretta's was AWEFUL! The atmosphere was aweful. It was basically a loud bar with a few tables for which we had to make reservations. My friend's ordered the brisket sandwich, mac n cheese & collard greens. I ordered shrimp & grits. The mac n cheese tasted like watered-down Kraft out of the box (the powdered cheese kind). The briskit and collard greens were under-seasoned. The grits were barely luke warm and the texture was off. Drinks were watered down. Come for the fried chicken and baconnaise sandwich (the bacon is grinded up into the sauce so you don't even see it. I sub the rice for a dollar extra for fries and those fries are AMAZING. Service was fine, she checked on us every so often. Suprisingly the fried green tomatoes was pretty good but a small portion for what is charged. I think we probably had 1 tomato for $9. The sauce is slathered on top so if you are vegetarian, ask for it on the side. The other time my friend came he said they had put it on the side so pretty inconsistent. Our poor vegetarian friend had to eat around the sauce. There was a band that was going to play a little after 7 and there was a tent card that said they were giving out some free apps when that happens so that's cool..Sad all my drinks lacked alcohol unless you got some sort of cocktail with whisky but I'm not a big fan of whisky. This was my first time here and not what i expected at all from the outside. Once you walk in the vibe is very chill, casual, the lighting is just right, noise level was not too loud and you feel relaxed walking in. Keep in mind that this review is based on before the band started playing. So will get loud once band starts. They have a nice set up for the band area/stage so no matter what you sat you'll be able to watch them. We got the platter for 4 along with side of Mac and cheese and collard greens and that was more than enough food. We got to try a little bit of everything. The Ericas buttermilk chicken was a little bland in flavor but still good. The Loretta's chicken was very moist and flavorful. I've never had any that I didn't like. My favorites are the Pepper Jelly Margarita and the Moonshine Cherry Blush. They also have a great selection of beers that you can't normally find in Boston. I came here last night for drinks before the Red Sox game. The bartender taking care of us gave my debt card to another party. So I was charged for another party's tab and my debt card was lost. When informing me of this, the bartender got upset at me for asking questions about why my debt card was "missing." He then turned around and said I was "pissing him off." I walked up to the GM who was very kind, apologetic and took down my information. It was not his fault and he handled the situation like it should have been handled. Read this as a 3.5 review. On my ongoing search for Hot Chicken (quite some time), I decided to come here. Loretta's is kinda out of the way compared to most of the other spots that I venture to but since Southern food is rare, I had to. The sweet tea wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of sugar. The hot chicken also came with a decent amount of coleslaw, pickles, and white bread to soak up the spice. The hot chicken honestly wasn't that spicy and in certain bites, actually tasted sweet. Besides that, the chicken itself was actually juicy and breaded pretty well. Service was pretty hands off though the waitress did drop by every so often to ask how everything was and whether I needed anything else. Ended up coming to this bar last night and left very annoyed. There was a nice live band and a fairly clean bathroom. But, at the end of the night (around 11 pm) my friend and I went to get a second drink from the bar (if you are at the bar facing the dance floor, we were on the far right side) and while waiting to order, there were two guys beside us who had ordered drinks. They paid and got the check, when the bartender came to grab the check as they went to leave, she saw the tip they left and called them back to HARASS them. She started verbally attacking them for leaving a tip that was under 20%, everyone nearby stood there in awe gawking as this rude bartender was yelling at the two men. We went here before the Red Sox Yankee game. We came to you guys and put our name on the list. We were inside way before our time which was good. We enjoyed the country music that was being played inside. The country vibe was great. Loved the wall with all the past and present artist on it. We were a group of 4 people. Would've given this place a higher score (maybe.) If my experience was not tarnished instantly from being the only person in my group being asked to wait till the next group. Considering the fact that I was already let in but held back because I was slightly different (I was the only non-white) -- didn't feel great and given that I waited on the line over 15+ minutes to be let in, not at all the experience I have ever felt (and to wait again?...). The benefits from this place, if at all, would be the people that I met and the local artists who performed -- in all honesty, could've gone to another place and still hear the same "local artists". Would have easily given it 4/5 IF and only IF my initial encounter was not instantly segregated from my friends. So the food was delicious and the drinks were delicious. Bridget was great, very attentive and checked back often. We just felt a bit off about the fact that two POC were left seated near us for over ten minutes without anyone attending to them. They were looking around and since we were brought waters shortly after being seated, without even ordering them, this should have told people no one had spoken to them. I highly recommend trying these. They do offer a vegetarian and gluten free menu, be sure to ask for it, it's not included on the main menu. Absolutely loved this place! Great drinks and even better live country music! At around 10 they took all the tables and chairs away and it was an open floor for the rest of the night. For food we had the chicken and waffles, which was better than your typical bar food. Next time I think I would ask for the BBQ sauce on the side because it drenched the waffle and made it a bit soggy. Besides some creepy old men lounging around, Loretta's was great! read more

Loretta's is a refreshing change of pace if you're looking for something different in the way of nightlife in the Fenway area. Specializing in live music, Southern eats, and mason-jar-esque cocktails, Loretta's has a homey, country feel to it and does a solid job with its food offerings. I was here last week for a group gathering, and we got to enjoy the chicken tenders, hush puppies, and pimento & bacon grilled cheese. All were tasty, but I'm especially glad I ordered up their chicken & waffles entree, because that really hit the spot! The maple syrup had a bit of a BBQ sauce kick to it, and the whole meal was deep fried Southern decadence at its finest. Came here on a whim when i was trying to get out of the rain. I did not regret it. My boyfriend and I each ordered a cocktail, the Wildberry Shineade and the Bushwacker. We liked them both, but the Bushwacker was by far our favorite. We ordered the fried pickle appetizer, which was great. The pickles were thickly sliced and crispy. I ordered the Fried Chicken and Waffles. It was DELICIOUS. (Definitely not diet food, but DELICIOUS.) It had a bit too much butter on top, but it could easily be removed. The had a good bbq sauce flavor that made this chicken and waffle special. My boyfriend ordered the burger, which he was happy with. The atmosphere was also enjoyable. Little Bit of Country in the Heart of the City! Went back to Loretta's to try the food! Glad I did.Completely different vibe in the daytime at dinnertime. You wouldn't know you were in the heart of Boston. The atmosphere and food took me to a little country town with southern hospitality. Our waitress was little rushed though she had mw tabbed out before I could order drinks. The food was good. The fried chicken was good and had a great spice to it. But after trying a few things I recommend the Burger and fries! That was by far super yummy. Got the Full Moon (moonshine) which is my favorite drink there. The atmosphere does change once the tables are removed and the younger crowd (and lines) show up. We were lucky enough to have a booth but the drunk kids don't know personal space and we're all over our table and seats. Once the tables are gone the waitress are gone and you have to go to bar to get a drink. You can barely move in there so that made things difficult. But still was a great night! I am a huge fan of Loretta's. I have been here a few times for food before or after Sox's games and late at night. When it comes to the bar scene if you like country music and an energetic crowd you'll love Loretta's. The live bands are great. They have lots of creative and fun events. The cocktails are unique and fun. When it comes to food, you can almost guarantee you'll enjoy your meal. I had a friend order the gumbo and not love it and I tried it as well and it wasn't my favorite. That is the only time we've had the experience. The pulled pork grilled cheese is amazing! The chicken and waffles is another good choice. The staff is friendly. It gets very busy so sometimes you won't get your water refilled right away. They are quick to attend to your needs. read more

Didn't realize I had been here a few years back for a bar night upstairs. It's pretty dead in the area if there is no game or concert on nearby, but it was great to take advantage of on a quiet Sunday. I liked the live music, although there was a fair amount of audio issues with the mic screeching. I got a cocktail, the cornbread, and the Strawberries and Waffles. Everything was delicious! I always love cornbread with honey butter, so I had to get it despite already getting a sweet cocktail and entree. The Strawberry basil lemonade cocktail was calling to me, and it did not disappoint! The waffles had the perfect amount of sweetness to them. I did not get syrup on the side with the waffles, and I don't know if that was a mistake or not, but the strawberry syrup that was already on the waffles was more than enough with the whipped cream. My partner got the ribs, and we split the jalapeño and cheese hush puppies. They were all delicious! I loved the chicken and waffles and wish I had another one of their soft and tasty waffle to eat with their spicy and tasty chicken. The ribs were a little tough and the bbq sauce was a the vinegary type, but still tasty. And those hush puppies were really good.
