Second falls of the day was Looking Glass Falls. This one, if you're willing, you can actually scramble up the rocks and get behind the falling water. I did not do this.

Waterfall is right next to the road so it can be very crowded during peak time. Parking and photo opportunities will be limited to. Just walk down flights of stairs and you will be at the waterfall. You can get very close if you want to, only if you wear waterproof shoe or if you don't mind getting wet.

I can not believe how accessible it is to get to this breathtaking waterfall! On route to fall you have many spots to pull over bring lunch or snacks and see flowing river that takes you to the fall. I'm not a fan of stairs and there's a few sets leading down to it but they are not bad at all.. it's a must to go down see and feel the magnitude of this fall. Just very stunning to see how tall it is at bottom. Just be careful if you go off path to the rocks and water because can be slippery but wow! I'm very glad we took time to come find this beautiful spot!!

Now this is one beautiful, accessible waterfall. Lots of people taking selfies, but who wouldn't want this wonderful backdrop in their photos?! Parking along the road is easy to find, although tourist season hasn't hit yet. People don't stay long, so it should not be hard to find a temporary space. At these falls you are actually aloud to wade in the water. Parents need to be cautious of their little ones as I am sure the rocks are slippery. You can view the falls from different levels, but it's nice to take the steps all the way to the bottom. It's worth it.

A beautiful staple miles away from Asheville if you're new to the area! It's an easy drive getting to the falls, just small windy roads. Once you get there (and there's a lot of off road parking), you can feel the mist of the waterfall when you get out of the car. It's about 60 steps to get down to the fall, and you are able to walk around the barricade to dip your feet in the water. It's free but it's not an ideal place to "swim." It's very rocky and who knows what's living in that water. I recommend coming during the spring when the waterfall shine's a rainbow.

Beautiful water fall and nice place to visit with kids. Sliding rock is right by it as well. It does get busy in the afternoon so go early. Nice wood walkway down to the water and you can get up close to the stream.

We stopped in here to look at this beautiful location. A couple of things I wish I had known. It is long and winding road on the 276 coming south from Ashville. Long....long and winding roads and zero bathroom stops, which is not good when coming from breweries in Ashville. Come in from the south through Brevard, the falls are very close when coming from that direction. The falls themself need to go down some stairs and on rocks that are not even, you can look from the stairs, but if you can go down do so. It is a great and free stop showing North Carolina and its natural locations and sites.

There were a lot of vehicles parked along the side of the road headed to Sliding Rock. All of a sudden, the cars stop and we see a waterfall. Metal note to stop on the way out has been made. We stop on the way out and expect to take some beautiful scenic photos of the water. My son runs to the ledge and see that there are people in the water. So, logically, we go down to find our way closer to the waterfall. The spot is absolutely breathtaking. Amazing open view of the waterfall, good flat rocks to sit on while you just take in the surroundings, and not too deep that I am worried about my nine year old exploring. If I had a pool noodle or a life vest, I would have let him swim in the deeper area nearer the waterfall.

Situated right along the highway is this beautiful waterfall. During winter it can get pretty icy on the bottom deck, so be careful. They advised no one to enter the water at the time of this review (January 2022) because of falling rock potential. Parking is along the road.

Very easy falls to drive to. Easy 30 minute drive from the airport. The good: easy parking, paved walkway down to the falls, good handrails and not to steep. You can also see and feel the falls from the side of the road without even getting out of the car. The bad: only parking for about 10 cars.

Very enjoyable scenic route that takes you through the Pisgah national Forest. Approximately 3 miles down the main highway, You'll pull off to the right hand side of the road. A short walk down the trail to a magnificent waterfall. Kids are playing in it, the water is freezing cold, and no one seems to care. What a great day! read more

We enjoyed this beauty! After a day of hiking we were excited to see more natural beauty without all the leg work. The looking glass falls allowed us to do so. We had a peaceful drive there admiring the surrounding beauty. We could easily see the falls from the road but decided to get out, take photos and walk down for different angles. What a beauty! read more

From website: Looking Glass Falls is one of the most popular falls in Western North Carolina. The name "Looking Glass" comes from Looking Glass Rock, where water freezes on its sides in the winter and then glistens in the sunlight like a mirror or looking glass. Looking Glass Creek, which flows past the rock, is also named for the impressive natural structure. Its easy accessibility makes Looking Glass Falls a popular spot for travelers along U.S. 276 near Brevard. The falls are 60 feet tall. We actually found Looking Glass in a photography book featuring natural sites in Asheville, looked it up and sure enough it was on Yelp. Pros: It's beautiful It's natural It's 60 feet tall It's easy to get to Cons: It's extremely busy and sort of lost it's natural/majestic appeal with 60+ people all shoving each other to get a picture. Tips: Wear your swimsuit under your clothes so you can get in the water if you want. Come in off season and or super early or later in the evening, it was a MAD HOUSE with traffic and kids acting cray during peak afternoon hours. Overall a definite bucket list stop - just avoid peak hours. read more

Words can not describe the beauty of the falls. It is amazing. A must see. Here are some tips. It is road side parking. It gets crazy. I'll go earlier next. You have to walk down a lot of stairs to get to the bottom of the falls. Pee before you get there. There is an area you can get in the water not far past the falls. It is less crowded. read more

The water was ice cold but felt great to stick our feet into. There's enough of a lagoon at the bottom to swim a bit if you're tough enough. Beautiful fall with observation platforms at a few different levels. There are stairs leading all the way to the bottom so no hiking involved. read more

Looking Glass Falls is such an easy waterfall to experience. It is right next to the road and provides a beautiful backdrop for pictures. We came on a cold winter day that probably kept the crowds to a minimum which provided an opportunity for some good pictures. You can stand on the overlook or take the stairs down to the base of the falls. Either way you are going to get a great view. If you want to see a great waterfall without the long Hike, this is a great place to visit. read more

GO!! Just do it!! Water is freezing cold but worth the torture haha! Quick walk to get there, only downside was that it was very crowded.....kinda took away from the feeling of being in nature, which is why I gave it a 4, BUT the sights were worth it! read more

This was definitely not a hike. They had parking at the side of the road and walked less than five minutes! It was a beautiful site to see. Who doesn't like FREE adventures with family? Bring the kiddos here and take a dip. Water is fresh, cold, and CLEAN. Just look at it. I would definitely come back read more

Absolutely gorgeous! Pretty busy when the weather is nice outside - I'd recommend pulling over (plenty of spaces to park your car off to the side) before reaching the actual waterfall. There are small trails that lead to the creek area that aren't as crowded and nice to swim in / relax. read more

Great views, never disappoint. Easy to get to with some steps, not wheelchair friendly. The falls is so close that the strong current sends tiny water droplet flying your way. Awesome place to sit in silence and take in the whole view. Zen mode, ooohmmm! read more

5 Stars for a majestic waterfall that's easily accessible and will get you to that special Ohhmmmmm place (on the off-season). Like I mentioned above, I happened to visit on the off season (March) and during freakishly-good weather. We were looking for some easy hikes with scenic views and a friend suggested we start the day with one great waterfall that doesn't actually require a hike at all. And though I love being active and working for my views, this accessibility is my favorite thing about Looking Glass Falls. You take a short drive from Brevard (turn after the Whole Foods) and find parking right at the top lookout point. Again, it was off season, so I'm sure parking is a bit harder to come by during peak, but it looks like there are a few areas before you get to the falls where extra cars can stop. The lookout has a bench and sturdy guard rails so you can really lean in and take a breath of that fine mist (which they could bottle given my irrational idea that it must heal all ailments). For those who are able, there are steps leading down to the bottom of the falls where there's another lookout point with a guard rail, which is easily hopped to dip your toes in the icy-cold water. I loved seeing families and both young and not-so-young folks out enjoying nature. This kind of accessibility allows for some more diversity (of age, ability, etc) then you sometimes find on trails. Also- apparently fly fishing is a real thing. This city-girl couldn't stop watching them casting their billowing lines! Someone recommended this spot to me and I'll be passing it along as well. Great intro to a day of hiking and sightseeing! read more

This place is a "Must See" when you go to Pisgah National Forest. Looking Glass Falls is located right next to the road. No hiking necessary. It's absolutely beautiful! You can take the steps to the bottom of the falls if you like. And there is a nice steep trail leading to the top of the falls. Make sure you drive by Looking Glass Falls. It's so worth seeing! read more

Yes, you hear strains of doom metal. I am back. As small children go buck wild when they hear the theme song from "Ghostbusters"; as female eighth graders wearing expensive boots adopt "RBF", and as narcissistic parents have to announce their child's middle name when admonishing her in public; Mr. F.S., my husband, will travel to popular destinations on clear, warm Saturdays. Which makes Looking Glass hard to enjoy. Reading the other reviews, you get the picture. Busy. Great for photo ops. Not so great for personal space. Many steps. Not wheelchair accessible. I let a dude go by, only to be thwarted by his hulk when he decided to take a pic in the middle of the stairway. Sigh. My bro-in-law went swimming under the falls eightish summers ago. He had fun. Great for active people. Lots of preteens have a good time in that area. You can slip, so be careful! Rangers are in the area, so do not despair. If you want beauty and privacy, go to the parkway falls for those moments. I know I am smiling in the attached photo. I am glad to be going elsewhere. read more

Beautiful water falls in Pisgah National Forest. The waterfalls were some of the most photographed and famous in North Carolina and the sight and sounds were a natural beauty. You can park and then walk to the falls after taking a set of stairs down. Many people were there for photos and the view. After the falls, we parked at the entrance to the Looking Glass Rock trail and did the 3 mile hike to the top. read more

Guess I lucked out by having visited in the off-season, but I enjoyed this waterfall. I stopped by in the late afternoon at the very end of October on a Monday and found only a few cars and a few people admiring the waterfall. It was too cold to swim and when I walked down the steps to the bottom of the waterfall, I was the only person down there. It's a big waterfall, 60 foot drop, and it is right next to the road. Halfway down the steps there is a nice little overlook spot to take pictures and you can feel the spray from the waterfall there. I would certainly recommend stopping and checking it out since it's so easy to get to. Based on other reviews, it sounds more enjoyable during a not so busy time of year. But for the ease of access and size of the falls, I would recommend checking it out at any time. read more

This was the first waterfall that I've visited in Pisgah. It will forever be special to me for that reason. We went on a Monday and although there was a bit of a crowd, the parking wasn't horrible. Although, i could see how it could be very chaotic on a Saturday. I didn't go further than the lookout but i enjoyed myself and will visit again. read more

The falls themselves are fantastic. Framed by picturesque cliffs with a canopy of green overhead, they should absolutely be on your list if you are in the area. The challenge with this spot is that it is just too easy to get to. You pull right up and park, walk down a couple flights of stairs and you are there. That's a problem because it means that the falls are almost always packed with people. People on the rocks, the stairs, the rails, in the water, kids everywhere. It's a beautiful location but far from a secluded or peaceful one. Come early in the day to avoid the crowds if possible. read more

One of the first stops in Asheville. It's probably one of the biggest falls they have here in the city. You can feel the spritz of water from the falls from a mile away. Definitely a must place to visit. read more

We went during the off season and the falls were well visited. I imagine it would be congested during the regular season. Falls are a very short drive outside of Brevard. You can park on the same level as the viewing area so no hiking is necessary. You may also choose to descend a number of steps to get a view from the bottom. That is the easy part, but you have to come back up. Oh, there are a large number of places overlooking Looking Glass Creek and the French Broad River for a picnic on 276. read more

Gorgeous waterfall! You park along the road and walk up to a higher viewing point of the falls (follow the people, the cars, or the signs). From there, you can take stairs down to some flat rocks closer to the falls. You can observe the falls from these rocks or you can walk down INTO the falls and go for a dip! Lots of people were wading, climbing, and swimming on the Sunday afternoon when I visited. read more

This place was awesome and well worth the stop! You park right on the road and walk up to the falls. You can see the falls from the street, but there are stairs down to get closer. Swimming is allowed (at your own risk), but the water is freezing! My kids (11 & 12) had a great time climbing on the rocks, walking through the water, and collecting some beautiful stones. I highly recommend stopping and seeing this! read more

These falls are large and pretty, and there are safe stairs leading down to the lookout, which makes this an ideal spot for young children as well as older ones who may have trouble on moderate hikes. It gets a little crowded so it's not my favorite spot. But it's a nice family stop. read more

I mean who doesn't enjoy a water fall!! Took my g/f here today for Valentines Day and she enjoyed it. She enjoyed it so much she even took a selfie in the freezing cold temperature. I would recommend coming back when is warmer temp since the walk down the stairs do get a little slippery from the ice. But I think it looks much cooler in the winter time with the frozen icicles surrounding the area. If you are thinking about it... just visit you won't be disappointed. BTW no cell phone coverage!! read more

I was the family photographer. I certainly had lots to photograph! There was ever a great rock to lean against for taking pictures. My suggestion is that you bring along a change of clothes, wet shoes, snacks, a camera, sunscreen and life jackets for the little ones. I forgot my wet shoes and my son forgot a change of clothes. There is a rest room where you can change clothes. There are also lifeguards until 5 PM. They stayed open after 5, but did not charge admission. When we return we will go later in the afternoon. The lines are shorter and after 5 you don't have to pay the $5 per person admission charge. I definitely will return when we visit the area again. We enjoyed a great time!

It's right on the Davidson River so swimming, fishing and wading are just about perfect. There are grills scattered around the property so you can cook a lunch or dinner while enjoying the rushing water so close by. There's also a large bathroom which comes in handy if you're spending more than one or two hours here. Sycamore Flats It's the first recreational river location you come to when you're driving from Brevard up Hwy 276. Parking is free. One caution: on weekends in summer, it gets very crowded very quickly, so come early to stake out your favorite spot.

The parking lot has room for about a dozen vehicles and there are a couple of picnic tables on the side of the parking lot. The steep little road leading up to the park had some pretty big potholes so be careful and go slow. Their website indicates they have 1 campsite there as well so go to the website for more info on that. We spent a couple hours hiking around here and enjoyed the Autumn foliage. The trail is very uneven in many parts with lots of roots and rocks, and a moderate incline in places giving you a little bit more of a workout.

The formation of the falls collectively is a "Y-shape" as Connestee Falls meets Batson Creek Falls to form Silver Slip Falls. It is one of the most unique waterfalls I've ever come across and would be much better photographed with a drone. There is an overlook on the Batson Creek side that faces Carson Creek, however, it is only accessible from a private trail in nearby Connestee Falls Subdivision. Thusly, the best view you will get as a non-resident will be from this nicely constructed boardwalk. The boardwalk hangs over Connestee Falls, so your view is very limited. Batson Creek Falls is visible, but not in its entirety as trees block most of the upper half of this nearly 100 foot tall sliding beauty. Topography maps show the elevation around Connestee Falls dropping roughly 65 feet before merging with Batson Creek Falls. Sliver Slip Falls is nearly impossible to see with the exception of the crest. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] A staff member from our hotel told me about this waterfall and I'm so happy he did. It was our very last stop on a waterfall chasing weekend that included Upper White Water Falls, Toxaway Falls, Gorges State Park, Looking Glass Falls & Skinny Dip Falls. While it isn't a destination waterfall and rather difficult to properly view, it most certainly is a nice add-on when touring the area. 2021 / 67

A level parking lot with restrooms, I left the van there and followed a family carting a cooler, a baby stroller and a bunch of towels. I figured that if they could do it then I sure could. And then they peeled off at the level part and I started up the hill. There's a sign with a warning that it's steep. I ignored the sign at my own peril and climbed up to the view point. Totally worth it. It's quiet other than the sound of crashing water and a few birds in the distance. The view of Triple Falls is amazing. Not an easy climb - I would say this is "moderate plus" because of the incline. It is somewhat smooth but not wheelchair capable and there's a definite risk of slipping on the climb back down. Guided Rides - Our guide Josh managed to make it all work perfect; for a mom who is truly a mountain biking beginner, the dad who seems to be able to handle anything and the son who really enjoys a challenge. My point is, they happily accommodate all skills levels. Rental Bike options - it's only first class here with beautifully equipped new Yeti bikes, you will leave wanting one of these babies for sure! Plenty of choices for all rider types/sizes/etc... Location - The Bike Farm is easy to find just outside Asheville proper then a short trip to unbelievable trail options. Your guide will discuss what you want to do, then plan the route accordingly. We originally chose one day then added a second because we just couldn't get enough. If we could have stayed longer, we definitely would have. We took this trip to have an escape and enjoy the outdoors and couldn't be happier that we chose The Bike Farm. When we return to NC, without a doubt we will book again.
