Best place to get your Belgian-style fries fix in Germany! It was snacky time after walking around…read moreCologne all day, and we saw a huge line at the Frites Belgique stand so we decided to join. There are several other fry places in the area, but this one had the most customers (locals to boot), and that's usually a sign of a good place. We were not disappointed. The super friendly guys working the stand were welcoming and while they didn't speak English, we had no problem communicating. We opted to share a "Normal" regular sized order of fries with a garlic mayo sauce. The stand prepares all their sauces fresh onsite every day, and you can tell. There are so many different flavors you can get, from spicy and creamy to exotic and creative. Since you have to pay extra for sauce (BOO, all fries should automatically include free sauce), I didn't want to try something too strange so we stuck with the basics. We waited less than five minutes and watched as our potatoes were fried up fresh to order. The packaging is clever and makes it so easy to share (but there are no tables or seats, so be prepared to eat while standing up or on the go). For less than ten bucks, this was a pretty tasty snack! The potatoes were an extra thick cut that had a ton of flavor. They tasted fresh and were super crispy on the outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside! They had a pretty golden yellow hue too, and the salt was just right. I liked that these fries were cooked in 100% vegetable oil instead of beef fat, which makes them suitable for vegetarians (watch out for the sauces, though, they aren't all vegetarian). This is a great stop if you love street food and fries in general. Oh: and watch out while you are standing in line! There are tons of pigeons that roost in the awnings above, and one teenager behind us got pooped on (so gross).

My friends knew i was addicted to KFC and told me they are opened. I was actually worried that i would have to stand around biting my oh-so-delicious chicken wings because i am not sure they have seating space. Because of my gluttony, i went and take the risk to eat standing up, luckily they do have a nice seating space, enough for more people to be honest. The place to sit is hidden inside the restaurant which is good because people wont be able to see your furious face while eating the chicken (at least i do). Very nice location because tourists are familiar with KFC and the staffs talk english too! One of the nice employee give me 8 instead of 6 chicken wings. So i guess today is my lucky day!

I've been twice now and one of the owners, a guy from Texas, is just such a pleasure to be around. He's friendly and happy to provide recommendations. He got a little sassy when I compared BABC to Chipotle, but whattaya gonna do --- they're essentially exactly the same. Which, if you're an American living in Germany, is a much-needed break from all the heavy German food. It's a compliment! The first time I was here I got the special - a chicken and lime burrito - which was pretty good. Enough for two meals, which the owner happily helped me pack up to take home. My second time I got a more traditional burrito with all the fixin's which was super delicious. So basically what I'm saying is: I will continue to come here every time I'm in Cologne. And if you like burritos, you should too.

The ordering station, the names of the food options, it was like Chipotle had been transplanted to Germany. I think the owner is American and he/she saw and opportunity and grabbed it. I was PUMPED because I love Mexican food and haven't had good Mexican in the last 5 months of living in Europe. I legit clapped with glee when I walked inside. I was that excited. I ordered a burrito bowl with brown rice, black beans, corn salsa, pico, barbacoa, sour cream, and cheese. Plus a side of tortilla chips. Pricey, but dang. So, so good. Worth it. Wish they would have channeled their Qdoba vibes by offering free guac, but I'll take good Mexican food when I can. The ingredients seemed fresh and the place was hoppin' as business folks came in for their lunch breaks.
