The selection of food to choose from was really good , both cold and already cooked,and though plates could be lacking there was always ample food to choose from when you went up for 2nd's or 3rd's...etc.. A couple of grills , as there is, per table is good enough for a full table of people The atmosphere is good within ,plenty of parking outside and it is kid friendly if you have them. In this respect Buffet House has declined markedly from a few years ago - I was once sick off something here for this reason. The service is also pretty average, and the premises in general are dour and in grave need of a makeover. It also isn't that cheap anymore. However one thing keeps this place popular and that's the seafood selection. I swear you just see people come in just for an all-you-can-eat in prawns and oysters sometimes! The oysters are just enough to sway me to give this place three stars, but it's a close run thing. Call it a 2.5.

My daughter voiced her frustration about this to the lady and got an extremely rude response in return. We know the waiting time is nobodies but the chefs business, but to get a disgustingly rude response after already having to wait an hour is just not acceptable. Saddened by the service as we enjoy their food, but unsure whether we will support them again due to this. Something clearly went wrong there tonight and a simple kind response would have sufficed. As the name suggests, it's named after the Mongolian warrior, Genghis Khan. The food itself isn't Mongolian, but apparently this is how Genghis Khan fed his army after a brutal battle. Fun fact, huh? The basic concept of the Mongolian BBQ is simple. First, you fill a bowl up with raw meats (namely chicken, beef, lamb, and seafood), vegetables, sauces, oils and noodles. I'm not too much of a meat expert but I thought their meats were of fairly good quality. Then, you take it up to the chefs manning the huge hotplate in the middle of the restaurant, and watch them cook your selection to perfection (hey, that rhymed)! There is also fried rice and white rice available, as well as garlic bread, baked root vegetables and soups. For the vegetarians out there, not only do they have a wide range of vegetables that can be cooked by the chefs, there are plenty of fresh selections at the salad bar. To round your meal off, you can get the chefs to dish you up a pancake. If you ask nicely, they might even be able to make you one in the shape of Mickey Mouse. The pancakes are probably my highlight of the dining experience - super fluffy and they also have a variety of toppings and ice cream which you can put on them. The downside of this place is that it is quite small and it does get very busy. There will be times where you have to wait a while for the chef to cook your meal - my longest wait was nearly 30 minutes! Overall, the atmosphere of Gengis Khan is exciting, although a little noisy at times. Considering that you can eat all to your heart's content, the price is quite reasonable. It is a casual, family-friendly restaurant, so it's definitely more suited for family gatherings. I frequented this place quite often during my high school years, but I feel like I've 'grown out of it'... mainly because most of their patrons are either families or large groups of teenagers. Just make sure that you go hungry!

This is a BBQ-style restaurant with every table fitted with a BBQ in the centre. The menu is simple with only about 12 selections of raw meat dishes on it. The raw meat is delivered to the table with about 15 side dishes of vegetables, some to BBQ and some not such as pickles and kimchi. We ordered the marinated ribeye and pork sirloin both of which delicious and fresh. We also ordered two bowls of rice which came with a pot of delicious soup ($1). Things to note about this restaurant. There are no entrees on the menu, it's a simple menu with emphasis on the BBQ. An entree is not need anyway with the accompanying side dishes. It is also not licensed however there is a liquor shop about 20m away which is where we purchased a bottle of wine to have with our meal. The bbqing itself was really easy while giving my partner opportunity to show off his bbq-ing skills. This was an excellent value meal. Tasty, delicious, fun and cheap. Highly recommended. We will be back.

Not far from the beach in Browns Bay on the North Shore in Auckland is this nice little restaurant…read more/ bar. Upon entering i felt the decor and tables etc was nice, ample seating, the atmosphere felt good and i like the nice little touch of some blinds to seperate some tables from others. The blinds can be up or down. Upon sitting down the menu is brought quickly. Initially i ordered a Tsingtao and my other half a watermelon milk tea. Then after perusing the menu we settled on the little bit spicy tofu slice and needle mushrooms, sweetcorn on the skewer, lamb skewer, sliced pork wrapped with okra skewer, pig trotters, flatfish, chicken wing stuffed with rice. They did not take long to come out and once they were...the verdict? Delicious! All cooked very well. I particularly like the chicken stuffed with rice ( to be appreciated even more as it does take a bit of skill apparently to make this dish ) and the pig trotters. Washed down with the Tsingtao, a very good meal indeed. And to finish a small selection of sliced fruits. So, all in all, i would very much recommend here. For the food, they have a decent selection of drinks available, the service, atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. If you're passing by heading North, heading South, spending time at the beach, or for somewhere different drive here from whereever you are it is worth it. Enjoy!

Somehow the missus managed to convince me to give it a go with a 3-course dinner voucher and I couldn't say no! Firstly, the menu - it left me a bit bamboozled as to How can a bar and grill have Chicken Masala with Roti?? It's just unfair to the Indian cuisine! Then the serving size - I felt short changed when it came to just 4 prawns with a runny sauce and some salad leaves - $16! See picture - the taste was alright and the prawns were cooked well - but flavours lacked punch. I hoped the oven roasted Salmon fillet with risotto would revive their dwindling reputation but again - lack of seasoning and a thin strip of salmon with a soggy skin failed to excite - $28.50! By now our hopes for an epic dessert were shattered and we picked the simplest of options for our sweet tooth - what was presented was again something I could probably cook up in my sleep - not thy there was any cooking involved but at $10.50 a pop - the lemon curd and kiwi fruit tart was straight out of the countdown cold dessert aisle with plain jane tip top vanilla ice cream scoops on top some slices of oranges n kiwi fruit and a few grapes with strawberry syrup in a floral pattern - DO NOT A DESSERT MAKE! I fail to understand how restaurants can get away with pricing like this - I think we were served smaller than usual portions as well owing to the voucher. Rest assured - the Takapuna branch of Buffalo Bar n Grill left nothing more to write about. The pictures will speak for themselves. Avoid.

Highly recommend you give this place a wide detour. For ribs on the North Shore try "deep creek" or "bushmans grill", for good general dining "the Patio" is nearby.
