Ive never been to this location, only the one on Northgate. I visited the drive thru today for chicken strips. I was happy with the food, tasted like it had just been cooked. The young man at the window was extremely polite and professional and got me my order in a minimum of time. 0 Stars. This was the absolute worst food I've had in a very long time. Nothing was freshly cooked. Seemed all old and heated in microwave. It tasted awful. The fish was heavy, soaked in oil, and tasted bad. Fries were stiff. Its obvious when fries have been reheated and these definitely were. Not even the hush puppies were fresh or good. I hardly ate any of it because I was afraid of food poisoning. Spent $30 on 3 meals that did not include drinks and was missing vegetables from one meal. The building is run down, dirty and a mess. I was in the drive through and could see right in to the office which was a disaster mess and even though there was no one else in the drive through or lobby the entire serving area had crumbs and dirt. This is probably my favorite Long John Silver's in the entire Sacramento area. I was here yesterday for their new (as of 2018) Sunday all you can eat buffet, which happens until 7pm. Oh wow, a huge improvement over the Long John Silver's closer to my home. The one by my home makes you re-use your disposable plates when you want more food, and makes you have to ask the employees to refill soda for you. This location here, provides a clean disposable plate with every new food order refill, AND we can refill our own soda. Oh wow! Not to mention, the place is clean inside, the employee was friendly, the food looks fresh as can be. I haven't been to a Long John Silver's in decades. The last time I ate at one it was greasy and gross. I decided to try one because I saw a long line. I was fortunate enough to secure a table at LJ Silver's (located in the Highlands of the North) on a Saturday evening in hopes of indulging in one of the multi-course culinary adventures that I had heard so much about from the lads on the Polo fields. Alas, on this particular evening, I was informed by the Maitre D' that the numbers presented on the menu did not refer to the number of  courses but rather a quaint way to expedite the ordering process. I assume this was due to the absence of all the servers. I asked to consult with the Executive Chef regarding the menu but after receiving blank stares I can only assume he was on holiday overseas. Tonight's meal would instead be prepared by teenagers in paper hats. Not one to pass on a new culinary concept, I played along and soon found myself in front of a mechanical dispenser of beverages which was referred to as a "fountain" (the Sommelier must have certainly been on holiday as well). I found the 2016 Sprite a delightful departure from the traditional light whites, like Vouvray from France's Loire valley. With its delightful effervescent presence it paired well with the batter Fried clams and les chiots de hush. Oh, and the fried cod...how transcendent could it be? Well, it was so flavorful that it seemed to have been procured in a more verdant universe. The exquisitely balanced tartar sauce gave it a subtle zing. Overall, the dining experience was not wondrous 100 percent of the time. At times it seemed too intent on culinary adventure with its numbers (such as "four" and "six" and the oh so cheeky "two") in place of the traditional descriptions of dishes provided by a server. Yes, yes: LJ Silvers suffers somewhat by comparison with the Michelin rated affairs, however getting a reservation may still require a degree of planning and effort. Perhaps you too will someday be able to ring the bell of Sir Long John upon your exit of this house of seafood delights...and chicken. read more

While I cannot vouch for any of their other establishments, save for the Long John Silvers in Ontario California, I have been frequenting this bastion of North Highlands posterity since 99/2000, before they switched to Pepsi and remodeled their entire look. You can rest assured that you are talking to an expert of the deep fried gastronomical field. Verily, my research is incomparable! The food is still fresh and deep fried; I have noticed that over the years, the hotness of the food has dwindled over time. It is still fresher than McDonalds or KFC, to be sure! Their prices has increased since I started going there, however, the key is to either get their coupons or buy a combo basket (which comes with a drink) and add pieces a la cart where you see fit to sate your rather curious needs! Their combo platters are wonderful, yet pricey. A caveat for you, intrepid reader, is that they DO NOT come with a drink! Make sure you are prepared to battle such treachery! If you love fried things, you owe it to yourself to make the trip here and nosh on the delicious feast that awaits you. This place should be ashamed of itself for being one of the restaurants that is very resistant to change for the welfare of others. I've contacted owners and management years ago, four to be exact, and they responded saying they are working on a batter and oil combination that is compatible to their taste... I guess it's not possible. I guess this explains the stomach aches I usually get after eating here, that is before I discovered how disgustingly unhealthy their food is. You are better off eating two big macs at that rate. I purchase a family meal and I asked for a lot of Tartar sauce because they are small packets. The guy at the drive up tells me he can only give me 6. I said there is eight pieces of fish. I then asked him if I could buy more and he said no because they are running out of boxes. Seriously. 40.00 worth of fish and clams and they would not give enough sauce for all of the food. Not the same LJS it used to be. The whole place seems like it could use a wash, inside and out. The food is usually pretty good, but the customer service is a joke! I do not know the woman's name, but she is the one that is usually up front, taking drive-through and walk-in orders. I promise you, you will know who I am talking about if you go in. I'm torn on how to go about this review. My first experience here was HORRIBLE. The next couple visits went well... I'll average it at about 3 stars overall. The first time I went it was about 9pm. We pulled up and there was one person ahead of us in the drive thru. We were the only 2 cars and the place looked dark and closed. We waited about 5 minutes before the person in front of us rolled down their window and gave their order. When we finally get up to the speaker, we waited about 3 minutes for someone to say something. Nothing. We started saying "hello"... nothing. If my cousin hadn't REALLY wanted their fish, I would of been done right then. Seriously, 10 minutes goes by without a word. Finally, the girl responds. We give our order and another couple minutes goes by. She eventually responds and repeats the order all wrong. We go over the very simple order again and she gets it. We pull up behind the first car (they're still waiting at the window). By this time it's been like 15 minutes. Another 5 minutes and we finally get up to the window. She's apologetic, but in a snarky way. Our food came super quick and we were gone. It was pretty irritating. The food is typical Long John Silver's. Hella greasy, but good. Oh my goodness never will I frequent this establishment again. I have friends/ family that agree the food is gross and staff extremely rude! Let's start with the customer service. The girl that gave me my order (I wish I knew her name!) was extremely disrespectful! She asked with attitude do you want plates? I said yes she's like OK I know! I asked can I get forks too, and she barked "wait a minute!" I ordered a family meal that was nearly $30 for God's sake! I think its OK if I ask for plates and forks. The same store Manager on duty for my last two visits is the most UN-customer service oriented manager I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. My previous visit was served stale food, my last order was over charged. Never an apology, never a visit to the table to ask if the meal is ok. He always has the air about him that the mistakes made are an inconvenience to him. It's no wonder there is never any business there even at peak hours. Needless to say, I'll never go there again.
