The staff has always been helpful and accommodating, letting me and one of my ill-mannered pups wait in the vehicle rather than the waiting room prior to being called back. Most recently, my 12 year old Great Pyrenees mix couldn't walk and I thought this was it - this was the end. Dr. Wyatt did a careful examination and quickly concluded it was a torn ACL that could be treated with pain meds. I couldn't believe what I was hearing! He and the staff said she would be remarkably better very quickly and they were 100% correct. 24 hours from the visit, she was standing and walking on her own and 48 hours later, almost no limp. I feel like the staff has seen me at my best and at my worst, when having to say goodbye to a pet and they've always shown compassion and understanding. Things to know: they don't do appointments, it's walk ins only and you're seen in the order of your arrival. They open early (maybe 7:30 or 8 am?) but the vet doesn't get there until 9 am. I think they close for lunch each day as well.

We went to Cheaha Animal Hospital based on their location and the fact they they could see our cat immediately. The doctor demonstrated the worst possible attitude ... berating me for thinking of putting our beloved cat to sleep and insisting that he could live several more years. He jumped to a conclusion and did not listen as I tried to inform him about all the different problems our cat was having. He said the problem was people who would not let vets do their job. I felt pressured to agree when he insisted that we needed to do blood tests (which cost an unnecessary $150). Those tests showed that our cat had an untreatable condition. Then the vet agreed with what my wife and I had known all along and went ahead with the euthanasia. Others may have different experiences, but I'll be looking for another veterinarian for our other pet. When people are saying goodbye to a pet they have had for 13 years, a lot more consideration and respect is needed from the doctor.

Think of Alan Harper and his chiropractic degree from the Universidad de Guadalajara. I took my sick cat to him and he didn't even perform the most basic diagnostics for the conditions I described (not eating or BMs & urination for 3 days) - no taking temperature, or checking throat for obstruction until after I suggested it. He gave her a shot of an inappropriate medication, a vomiting inhibitor, and tried to load me up with other meds that were added basically useless except to pad up the bill. The next day I took my cat to another, better credentialed, vet in Oxford who immediately recognized a problem on palpation of her gut (which Dr Abernathy said was fine) and ordered a blood test which confirmed a diagnosis of total kidney failure, likely due to poisoning. My girl had to be immediately put down. Zero stars!!!

I have been taking my precious pup to Piper's for almost two years 5 or 6 days a week for Doggie Daycare and she absolutely loves it. My dog is very shy around most people, but due to the staff being so kind and caring, Mollie runs in the door and can't wait to kiss on all the staff. Alicia the Manager does an excellent job and makes sure anyone she hires is kind and loving to all the dogs!! Brandon and Shannon also go out of their way to make sure Mollie is treated like a Queen!! I can't say enough positive things about Piper's!
