I booked along with a family friend a pedicure way above average pricing so the assumption being there would be more additional amenities than what would be offered at a typical nail salon. Upon arrival, found there was only 1 nail technician working so we sat and talked while the other was receiving the pedicure. I went last and the set up albeit clean was a regular set up, nothing yet warranting the $$$ price tag. After the basic pedicure was done we had to leave and the technician asked if I'd be able to stay longer to let the nails dry, when I asked if she had quick dry spray or a fan she said no. How does a pedicure cost $$$ and there are no additional measures to ensure the customer leaves with dry feet. We had dinner reservations so had to leave and was careful, however 30 minutes after leaving my toddler accidentally stepped on and smudged my big toe. When I contacted the salon to try and redo just the one singular toe the next day they said they wouldn't be able to, when I explained it was just 1 toe and would just need a polish correction they still would not accommodate. The technician was nice so please understand the low rating is purely on the business, their lack of accommodation, accountability and accessible materials to ensure that their services are completely dry before one leaves.

Mandy was the sweetest scheduler on the phone, and booked me right away with Lisa. What a warm, bright energy! She totally pampered me to the hilt! My $120 facial was heavenly! Lisa's touch was warm and soothing, and she focused a lot on my skin. I flew here 2 days ago, and she noticed that I was dehydrated without me even telling her that. She's big on natural products, which I am totally on the same page with. I LOVED the French-origin, New York-based Naturopathica products that she used on me, and will even start using the Arnica Muscle Gel in my work as a massage therapist. She agreed with my Clarisonic ritual back home, too, which I was happy about. I definitely know when I'm being touched by someone with clear and loving energy, so I feel lucky to have gotten Lisa for my pampering today! After my facial, I got a $40 Mini Pedicure. Considering pedis are way cheaper in Los Angeles where I'm from, for me to say that the extra dollars here were well worth it says A LOT! Okay- I've decided to do a minor 're-do' on this review because I have to admit, due to the…read moreoutrageous price tag on my half-day spa service, I got a little carried away in my disappointment on my first write-up. Let's just say, Lake Forest is an affluent north shore suburb of Chicago and I may have presumptively expected more from my spa experience here. I had a mani, pedi, facial and massage and I spent about 4 hours in the spa. The spa was tiny and did not feel very 'spa-like'. Its hard to describe, but maybe style-wise, was geared more for an older crowd, with Victorian, 'Old World' -style furnishings. So I walked in on one of the coldest days of the year, and alas, there was a coffee pot in the corner with nothing in it. It was a very cold winter day, and they should have offered something warm to drink. I walked into the spa and changed into slippers and a robe- and it was freezing!! They could have put a space heater in the main alcove of the spa to make it more comfortable. It was such a small business, one space heater would have heated the entire place. Also, the slippers and robe were worn, stiff and not very comfortable. The point of these (pricey) little spa treats is to make you feel warm and fuzzy, and it definitely didn't start off that way. For my massage, I went into a room off the main entryway and got under some sheets and blankets that had a scratchy, worn, low-thread count feel to them. Definitely had been through the drier a few thousand times too often. The face-support cushion was obviously on its last leg, very little cushioning and the pillow-case covering it was incredibly rough. My face felt like it was being squeezed by two polyester airline pillows! The massage oil was cold and so were her hands. The room was not warm nor were the blankets. The entire massage left me feeling unrelaxed and chilly. For the facial, I cannot complain much. The facial products were in containers that looked old and generic, although I was reassured high-quality European products were being used. The towels were again, rough and felt very worn and old. I felt like sandpaper was being rubbed across my face and neck at each process. Also, the cotton pads/balls she used looked old and linty. The facial itself was not bad. My skin felt smoother -- but I expected more from an environment in terms of quality where I'm putting my face (and my health, really) in somebody's hands. The pedicure was not bad, the color stayed on my toes greater than 10 days, but my feet were still not very smooth-- AND this was despite a paraffin treatment, which I had never had before! The manicure was probably the worst I'd ever had. I did not inspect them that carefully until I got home. Just as background, she spent greater than one hour on my hands and feet so I was expecting them to look good. I got home and inspected my nails and was shocked at how much there was wrong with them. There was a 1 to 1.5 mm area around the periphery of my nails that was absent of polish. I requested a dark color and you could see the bottom/first layer and then a GLOB of the second layer on top which did not even cover the first layer completely. It was one glob of polish on top of another glob and it didn't even color the entire nail! Every one of my nails looked like that. Also, my cuticles were terrible looking: shaggy and rough. I could have done a better job at home. I left the polish on just to see how long it would last and it did not last more than 4 -5 days without chipping, the shortest time a professional mani has lasted me. I will never go back there again. I am surprised and disappointed at finding such a mediocre establishment in Lake Forest. I think a little investment would help: (NEWER) robes, slippers, towels, better containers for products, space heater, self-serve coffee/tea svc. Also, the lighting was terrible in the place and I'm wondering if that may have contributed to the terrible manicure, since my pedicure was not bad and it was the same employee (better lighting around the foot bath?). If not for the facial (which was average at best), I would have given ZERO star

But I couldn't pass it up! I was impressed with the place. It was kinda weird at first being that I'm not used to being pampered but the ladies there were really good! It was a little awkward at first because some of the girls (mostly the girl at the desk) seemed like they were kind of unapproachable, but after you come in a few times and you're a regular they really are nice people. The massage was incredible. The best I've had, definitely! The hair cut was average and the color was... well I probably could have done better myself, (I just went back to Regis to see Janet for that ;) They hair stylist that did my hair seemed like she just finished school or something and was kind of slow doing my color (which I believe was mostly re-touching my roots). Everything else was pretty good... and for the $55 and tips that I spent on it was worth it all. As for their regular prices, some services are a bit pricey but they do aim for that "private, exclusive spa" feel. I do recommend that you make an appointment since their hours are a bit weird and they are usually very busy.
