After moving back to the Edmonton area I decided to take a trip down memory lane and see what Callingwood had to offer. And wow! They have grown. There was a little overspill into the parking-lot when you entered but they really grew and added a whole section out behind the shops. They had icecream, lollipops, mini doughnuts and kettle corn, all of my favourites from the bigger markets. On top of all that more really cool vendors! We picked up some Beef patties and awesome smelling lotions and left quite happy. Looking forward to putting this one into the rotation!

I saw some unique items that I haven't seen at the other locations. For example, I saw fancy cribbage pegs for sale. I haven't seen that before. Also some sort of sand art in bowls. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of these items. Guess you'll just have to check out this market if you're curious! Anyways, this was my first time at this location. We bought some small Jamaican pot pies, salted caramel popcorn and kale. I spent less than an hour here. I found stuff that I wanted and I had a pretty good experience! I have my favorite markets in town but sometimes it's nice to change things up a bit!

Last week there was a big line to get in and our favorite purveyor was sold out of grape tomatoes. This week we went a bit earlier and there was still a line up to get in but we were early enough to get the tomatoes! Fresh chicken, grass fed ground beef. Today we picked up fresh halibut and salmon. This will be my go to market for 2020. Open air and physical distancing in place. Lots of parking. It's not a huge market. It's local and it has seafood, veggies, a little bit of crafts, some specialty foods, food trucks, popcorn, ice cream , and everything I need from a market....

Located in northeast Edmonton, this farmers' market is a true community event, completely volunteer-driven and operated. There is an abundance of fresh and unique products that are made, baked, or grown locally in and around Edmonton. You can find bedding plants, perennials, a wide range of vegetables, fruit, and berries. There are also delicious jams, jellies, preserves, and fresh meats. My son loves the jalapeno flavored pepperoni sticks. Prices are very affordable, and staff are super friendly and welcoming. Oh, you can get fresh popcorn too. Very family oriented. Loretta is someone that truly stands out here, with her cheerful manner, friendly smile, and vast knowledge. Never has anything I have bought from her died. The quality of her plants is just stellar. She truly goes the extra mile. For example, if you want something that she doesn't have, she will offer to bring it for you the next week. It turns out she has her own Greenhouse, Country Clay & Garden Works in Red Water. She is a pleasure to see every Tuesday.
