I had a king sized bed but my son wanted to use the pullout to himself. When the pullout was open, it literally touched the bottom of the king sized bed, creating a little bit of difficulty trying to reach the window and curtains. Last month, we got into the hot tub and within minutes our skin started burning--not from the heat, but from what appeared to be excessive chemicals. The power went out for several hours, and I was shocked to learn the hotel has no backup generator. When the power finally returned in the middle of the night, our air conditioner displayed an error code and wouldn't work. It took over an hour for someone to come fix it, and by the time it finally started cooling the room, it was 85 degrees inside. Needless to say, we got very little sleep. Because I was exhausted, I didn't feel it was safe to make the drive home. I asked the front desk if I could keep my current room if I booked another night. I was told yes. Then, just 30 minutes later, at 10:45 a.m., there was a knock on my door telling me I had to be out by 11:00 and couldn't check back into a room until 3:00 p.m. When I asked for a refund, they refused, despite being the ones to say I'd be able to keep the room. That left me and my dog to just hang out in the car, becauseits going to rain all day. I asked if, given everything that had happened, they could at least waive the pet fee as a small gesture of goodwill. The manager refused. I understand that power outages happen and aren't always a hotel's fault. What is within management's control is how guests are treated afterward. There was no flexibility, no meaningful effort to make things right, and no appreciation for the loyalty of someone who has stayed here regularly for over 2 years. The new management has completely ruined what used to be my go-to hotel in Parkersburg. It's disappointing to say, but after this experience, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I received confirmation of my pre-paid reservation. We drove over three hours from home assured we had a room given our confirmation number and acceptance of payment. We arrived at the hotel, at 4 p.m. on the date of our reservation. The desk clerk (the gentleman seemed like the manager) was rude to us from the get-go, when told we had a reservation and I proferred my name and reservation said we can not provide you a room as we are over-booked. No apology. He told us 13 parties were also overbooked for the night and held up some seemingly scribbled list of names that were over booked. At the time there was a raging thunder and lightning storm with torrential rain and flooding streets. He said we would get our money back but "no rooms. We had chosen the hotel for the indoor pool but that was closed (due to "maintenance" at 4 p.m.) Since there was a popular weekend festival there were no vacancies at any hotels we could find after two hours of trying. We finally found a very nice hotel (with a very nice staff)45 minute drive away in Ripley, WV. It wasn't only the broken contract but the rudeness of staff , lack of apology and the staff unconcerned/uncaring. I would advise that you would think twice about booking at this hotel. The bacon tasted rancid...to the point the I left two pieces. Yeah, that's right, I threw away bacon. A first! Other than the breakfast, this is a recommendation.
