There is an admission charge even if one hikes up. They discourage photography inside the cave itself. Open year round I think, I was there in the summer. Definitely something that should be on the itinerary if you're going to the Salzkammergut

The ski Amade is the premier place with the Papageno gondola to the top. The view from up there is truly spectacular and supposed to be one of the best in the country and officially the best in Salzburger Land. It's truly amazing and we took a 10-11k walk in the snow up top and at 1755m you have a gorgeous old Karhütte with one table and a mean hot chocolate mixed with cherry rum. If you don't speak German getting information up top is a bit more tricky. I would highly recommend a trip to the top and have a good look around it's truly amazing.

Once you arrive at the top there are a few activities; Sky walk, Dachstein suspension bridge, Ice Palace,& the stairway to nothingness. A view to remember.
