WARNING, PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LOCKOUT FENCE !!!
We paid a down payment of half of the full payment of the cost of a new wood privacy fence for our entire back yard approximately three week in advance of the start date. Before work was done we asked the owner if he would use quality products and how long the job would take. He assured us that his products were top quality and stated the job would be completed in two - three days. Workers started taking the old fence down on March 13, 2023, setting some posts and the next day started putting up some new fencing and setting more posts. On the third day according to the owner the job was complete and as agreed could we pay the balance of his invoice. Once we inspected the fence, right away we saw bad craftsmanship, boards were not straight, posts were not straight, some 2X4 were split and gouged, some 4X4 and some 6X6 posts did not have concrete in the holes to hold the posts steady. Especially, two walk in entrance gates posts were not concreted in the ground and they were horribly constructed, spacing was not consistent, pickets were cracked, some pickets should have been returned to the store for store credit instead of used to put up a new fence. Measurements of the 2x4's and some 4x4's cuts were not aligned with each other, the gates and fence looked horrible. We called the owner, to discuss our dissatisfaction of the fence. He told me he could not come out today but would come out on Saturday to check the fence with me. On further inspection of the fence, I called the owner back to inform him of other things that I was dissatisfied with he agreed to come out as soon as he got back from Forsyth. Upon both of us walking the fence for inspection he agreed the fence and gates were not right, but stated he did not care and stated that If we paid him the balance he would give us a discount. We were not looking for a discount, we merely wanted a beautiful new privacy fence. After, talking for a while and him realizing that we would not pay until we were satisfied with the job the owner agreed to take down the gates and to redo them himself and replace some bad pickets. After the gates were redone and some pickets replace we again walked the fence for further inspection where we discovered boards has separated even more. When we expressed our concern about the separation of the boards the owner got very RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. The next day the owner called to apologize for his behavior, stated he had gotten complaints from other customers about the grade of wood which he had bought from a different and cheaper company and he would replace all of our fencing. We were supposed to have the fence stained within six weeks of completion but, as of April 2nd the owner has not fulfilled his promise to replace the entire fence. Now, he has recanted his promise and states that he will not replace certain things. During the installation of one of the entrance gate. workers busted an irrigation line and tried to cover it up by putting concrete and extra dirt over the busted line. Upon, turning the sprinkler on we noticed water bubbling up from a hole and after inspection discovered the line had been busted. No one alerted us of the busted line. Owner stated that they are not responsible for damage to lines and there is nothing he can do suggested we read our contract. We called a sprinkler company to come out for repairs and an estimate. Company stated repairs would cost around $250 to $300 for repairs, which is an additional expense.
