Where do I begin? We ate here a few weeks ago after wanting to try it for months! We eat at Muss & Turners regularly, so when we learned about Local Three being owned by the same people, it was on our list. We met some friends, so we were able to try out a few different things. What really stood out to me was the AMAZING strawberry shortcake salad. It was amazing. All the flavors blended so well together, and the look of strawberry shortcake made it even more delicious. Went back there a few weeks ago to make sure my luck with this place could be repeated. Some great things were had, some average things were had, so it chalked up to me not changing the rating. -Brussel sprouts cooked (fried) in duck fat. Yup duck fat. Brussel sprouts is a new love of mine since I never had it growing up, and brussel sprouts + fat seemed like the winning combo. Especially with the rave review from the server. Hold on to your panties, I wasn't too impressed. The brussel sprouts were charred slightly, and I couldn't get the charred taste out of the way to enjoy the rest of the brussel sprouts. There's gotta be a way to avoid that. -Scallops were amazing. Came with a great little salad that made the dish taste light and fresh. I'm amazed how well this place can do seafood. -The duck cassoulet was...salty. And really salty is a deal breaker for me. The bean stew underneath was really tasty though. They have a new dessert menu and it's crazy good. They have different sizes of desserts at different price ranges, depending on your fat-assery, er fullness. -I'm always leery of desserts that take their inspiration from candy bars. Because if it tastes as good as a candy bar, heck I'm going to go out and get myself a $.50 candy bar. But the Snickers bar dessert may have changed my mind. It elevated the components of a snickers bar and made it, dare I say, elegant? And it was a small size, which is good and bad. Good if you're full. Bad if you aren't and really wished it was a Twix bar and came with two pieces. -The apple pie dessert with rosemary ice cream - what great match. The ice cream had enough sweetness to complement the rosemary flavor, and paired really well with the sweet dessert. As always, this place has an incredible selection of drinks. I met up with a couple of gfs here today for brunch and they were super busy. I had made reservations though so we were quickly seated. Once seated, the waiter came to take our drink order. My gfs ordered coffee and I just wanted water. It was noisy in there so I guess our waiter didn't hear me and assumed I wanted coffee too even I though I said to him, "I don't want coffee, just water." When he came out with coffee for me, I didn't want to make a big hassle out of it so I kept it. $2.50 for a cup of coffee I didn't even want. Boo! Brunch here was decent, nothing to write home about though. It's $20 for all you can eat. If you go, try the cheese scones, yogurt with granola and french toast. If you're looking for a great bourbon selection, look no further. L3 got plenty to fit your palate. Randy was great at giving some insight while I sat at the bar for a couple hours enjoying a few pours for National Bourbon Day. I got in at a quiet time. The lunch crowd was dying down and there was plenty of room at the bar. I spent a lot of time oogling at the wall of bourbon trying to figure out what I wanted to try. After a couple of pours of my picks, I went with a Belle Meade Madeira Cask - chosen through conversation about our own palates while I was enjoying my other selections. I look forward to attending some tastings that might tickle my fancy in the future. To put the amount of time I spent in perspective, I almost had to pay for parking despite my validation. read more

My boyfriend and I are currently doing a Whole30 (www.whole30.com), and were very limited in what we could eat. We ended up finding a spot to dine at the bar, and the bartender servers couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating of our special requests! When the server came around to our side of the bar to introduce herself and take our order, we explained our restrictions, and she immediately went over and got the head chef, Chris Hall, to come over and go through the menu with us. He himself had done the Whole30 three different times, so he was very familiar with what we could and could not eat. He suggested quite a wide variety of items, but we ended up ordering: *Duck Fat Fried Brussels Sprouts (prepared the 'old' way) *Smoked Steelhead Trout (sans potato chips) *Charcuterie Sampler with Accompaniments (sans flatbread) *Pan Seared North Georgia Mountain Trout *Sausage & Peppers (sans white beans) Everything was AMAZING and had such excellent unique flavors. The sausage was served over fresh kale which was delicious and nutritious. And to top it off, the chef stayed and talked to us for a few minutes about his experience doing the whole30, and had words of encouragement to stick to it, that you start to feel really great around day 20 (we were on day 10). I HIGHLY recommend dining here with friends or a date. We will definitely be returning to explore more of the menu as soon as we are done with the whole30! read more

Very good and distinctive Sunday brunch, if you can find the place. I'm glad I was with someone who knew how to get here, because it involves winding your way to the back of a mixed-use development, parking in a garage, taking a slow elevator, crossing a lobby, and going down a very long hallway with a wood sculpture on the wall that looks like some sort of elaborate torture device. Once inside, the woodwork and the décor give it an upscale but comfortable feel (beginning with the wooden pig just inside the door) and the servers are prompt and pleasant. Brunch is a buffet-type affair where you walk through the kitchen along an L-shaped counter where the cooks are putting out family-style sized platters of the day's 15 or so offerings. So portions aren't cooked to order, but it's not K&W-sized platters either, so the food turns frequently and stays hot and fresh. There is a nice balance of sweet and savory, breakfast and lunch. I particularly enjoyed the macaroni and bleu cheese, but everything was good, except the Local Three potatoes, which I found overdone and not seasoned enough. Stopped in for lunch with some clients this week and had a great meal. This was my second visit, with the previous being for a company hosted dinner during a conference that I was attending. It is not the typical location, but don't let that discourage you from making a little effort to find them. The service was impeccable, and my avocado toast with crab was amazing. Even the side salad was presented and prepared perfectly. Pay attention to the decor and the artwork. I highly recommend stopping in to try The Local Three. read more

LOCATION It's a little hard to find. The restaurant is located in a shopping / luxury apartment area that has not been finished, or is still vacant. There are a lot of vacant storefronts around it, so you have to be on the lookout for signs that say Local Three. Walk into the large building and veer right as soon as you walk in, before you get to the large circular front desk. Go down the dark hallway with the pig at the end. BRUNCH $21.95 The brunch here is awesomeeeee. I mean, awesome. For a set price, you get coffee included, and unlimited amounts of brunch food. The thing I love most about this brunch is that all the food set out is in smaller platters than I've seen at other brunch places. That way, the food is consistently made fresh, and when I came back for seconds and thirds, a new plate was set out, hot and fresh. SHRIMP AND GRITS This needs to be a staple here for brunch. It's the best I've ever had and I died for it. I ran back three times, each time scooping just a ladle full so that I could taste the other things too...but I kept coming back to this. This is by far, the winner dish for me. PANNA COTTA Perfect size, tasted creamy and delectable. The kids inhaled this. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE PANCAKES They are small in size so they are perfect for tasting. Fruits are fresh. Strawberries and blueberries. Pancakes were fluffy and I put a bit of butter on top. No maple syrup necessary. SOFT SCRAMBLED EGGS So creamy and delicious. Topped with some parsley and other herbs. Perfect eggs really. QUICHE It was light, fluffy and flavorful. I took a piece with a lot of crust because I like the flaky crunch. Very happy with it. BACON Crispy pork bacon. I took the small pieces and they were delicious. Hard and crunchy, not greasy. CROSTINI I forget what was on it, but it was not my favorite. It was bite sized so I didn't mind it. It was forgettable. ATMOSPHERE The tables are high, solid, and I want to have them in my home. The Local Three is a hidden gem in what appears to be an office building that you would easily miss if you weren't looking for it. I was happy to find out there is free parking in the parking deck on the weekends. I went this morning for brunch with a friend. The brunch buffett is set up cafeteria style as you are greeted at the kitchen door with a plate that you use to go through the line & grab your own food. There is a small mixture of breakfast items & lunch options. I thought the food was good but since the food is not in warmers the items that are supposed to be warm get cold rather quickly. The best things I had today was the L3 potatoes & the banana bread. The blue cheese mac & cheese would have been better if it was warm but it was luke warm at best. You can't serve mac and cheese cold. I would return but next time probably just for drinks they have a nice bar area with an extensive bourbon selection that I know my boyfriend would love. read more

I think Local Three is just fine. I went here on a date with my boyfriend, and we tried a variety of dishes. The goat cheese and beet ravioli was great! It was a bit small, but I suppose that's expected for this kind of place. I got the mushroom assortment, which I loved, though the taste could get a bit tiring towards the middle of the meal. It would be best if it included some kind of grain like polenta or grits or something to break up the strong flavor of the sauce. We got the beef pasta main as well, which was not that good in my opinion. The meat had a strange canned taste to it, and the pasta itself was meh. We recently had a birthday brunch at Local 3 and arranged for one of their semi private rooms (KOR? room). The experience was unique and memorable. The food was good but not memorable. The selections were few compared to many all you can eat brunches. They would do interesting twists on the items like ginger pancakes etc but if you don't like ginger, you can cross off the pancakes. Still it was a good meal and for that I gave them 3 Stars. That said, because we were a party of 7 and in a semi private room, there was a required gratuity of 23%. We thought this was more than a bit much (in this case) as they didn't serve us food, take an order but rather essentially filled our water glasses and a few juices a couple times. When someone dropped a fork, they were nowhere to be found, when we needed syrup.... no one..... some biscuit gravy.... hello????? Even getting the bill required us to get up and go find someone as after 15 minutes we still had no server and for this they were paid 23% of a well over $250 bill. Not right. I don't mind tipping but it should be for service. read more

Why you should go...giant wall of bourbon, great atmosphere, the food is fantastic, prices are pretty normal for this type of establishment. Now, the reason I can not give them 5 stars. They made the best burger Ive ever eaten, but it isnt a regular menu item and there is no way to tell when or if it will make another appearance. We went for an impromptu drinking session and ended up having a wonderful food adventure. Each dish we ordered was of a high quality and a combination of ingredients (that resulted in a unique flavor profile). We opted to share all our dishes and just an FYI their entrees are huge. Came here for a private group dinner in one of the private rooms. I was excited to come and check this place out since I've been dying to check it out ever since I first saw this place pop up. I love the concept of farm to table so I had a feeling I'd like this place :) First off was a cocktail hour which was awkwardly just outside the restaurant. I'd prefer to be inside for things (I got a ton of mosquito bites), so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it that much, but it didn't seem like they had a dedicated cocktail area. We had the cheese and meat platters which were pretty delicious. Then we were shown to our private room which seemed a lot smaller than it looked in the pictures online. Our menu had three courses: appetizer, main course, and dessert. The menu itself is a little confusing and doesn't read well. In fact, a lot of us were "surprised" when we received our items because we had not expected that from reading the description. I asked the waiter which item he liked from two that I was looking at, and his suggestions were always wonderful. So if you're confused, I would ask questions! I started with the melon salad which was DELICIOUS, very unique, and very fresh. A coworker had the short ribs which was a hearty portion - enough for dinner even! I had the trout for the main course which, while was okay, was not spectacular. That was a let down. The spring strawberries dessert is spectacular - ate the whole thing up. Again, the description of the dessert is super confusing, but just get it, it's delicious. I would've given this place 5 stars if they had 1) a more descriptive / less confusing menu, 2) nicer private rooms, and 3) faster service. We waited A LONG time for our food and let's be honest, there weren't that many options on our three course dinner. I would come back here with friends or family though, the main dining area is super cute. read more

I came here with a group of friends for Easter brunch and had to make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance. Local Three has Sunday brunch every week for about $20 a person but it is about $35 or so for Easter brunch of course. As soon as we got seated at our table, our server came and got us our drinks. We took a glimpse of the daily menu that also served as our placemats and then it was off to the races! For brunch, the restaurant places all the food in the kitchen so you get to see food being prepared as well as check out the layout of the kitchen which is pretty cool. All the food items were laid out in a line with hand-written signs in front of each item so you know what you were eating. The brunch items change frequently so you won't have the same experience if you come again. They have everything from standard breakfast items such as eggs and bacon to lunch items such as various meats and vegetables and desserts. The presentation of the food has a nice appeal as well since everything is served as a smaller portion compared to a normal buffet. The quality is also much better so you definitely get what you pay for. After each plate of food, they immediately took our plate and even replaced the silverware for the next round. Our drinks were always refilled so service was definitely on point. I enjoyed most of the food they had offered for the day but wasn't able to try everything since there was so much to choose from. I will definitely be coming back for a regular Sunday brunch and can't wait to see what will be in store! read more

My husband and I are in town celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary. I am a complete kitchen nerd and self-proclaimed foodie, so my thoughtful husband made a reservation for us here at Local Three; he made a Chef's Table reservation. For starters, this was our first time experiencing such an experience. It was amazing!! While the kitchen was pretty quiet and mellow (it was a Sunday), the experience was incomparable. The 8-course meal was incredible! Each course included wine or alcohol pairings. The portions were definitely not what you'd imagine when dining at a Chef's Table; they were more than filling. As with many restaurants, the menu changes with the seasons, availability of ingredients, and Chef's preference. Not only was the food great but the service was phenomenal. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating; whatever we needed, we got it, often before we were in need. The chef was the coolest guy who served our main/steak course! It was so much fun being part of the hustle of the kitchen. I'd suggest visiting Local Three for dinner on any random day, but if you have the means, I'd definitely say to try and get at "The Table." I'm certain we'll visit again whenever we come back to Atlanta. read more

Delicious American fare. I went for the Sunday brunch this afternoon. We parked in the garage, which was free on Sunday, and then found our way to the restaurant. It's located inside an office building, but once inside it's a nice space. On to the food, the brunch is all you can eat and is relatively inexpensive. The menu changes weekly. With everyone in my party we tried a bit of everything. We all loved the herb Parmesan biscuits, the L3 potatoes, ginger French toast, and soft cooked eggs. My partner enjoyed the house made duck spam with confit potatoes. Mostly everything was tasty, altogether I didn't care too much for the peanut butter and jelly pancakes. Also, portions are smaller but for a buffet you can get as much as your heart desires. Our server was attentive and always kept our drinks full. I've had this place bookmarked since I moved to Atlanta about 6 months ago and finally got to try it! I love brunch and I love quality buffets. It's great to have a variety of foods with something for everyone. I went back and forth a little on the rating but ultimately chose 4 stars instead of 5 here's why ... The good: fair price, delicious food, good variety of food options at the brunch buffet. Did I mention delicious food? Pretty much everything I tried was amazing. French toast and mac and cheese were my favorites oh and the potatoes ... my mouth is watering just thinking about them. The bad: service wasn't the best and they tacked on a 20% tip automatically which is frustrating. I was a server many moons ago and I tip accordingly - this server would have received a 15% tip which IMO is what is deserved for average service. It was a little challenging to find, pricey drinks, no changing tables in the restrooms. Ultimately the good outweighed the bad IMO and we will most definitely return the future. Located in one of the office buildings at the new Piazza at Paces complex, this place is definitely a hidden gem. The whole complex is new and very pretty, and the restaurant offers contemporaneity decors and outside seating, making it a really great spot for lunches. We came here on a Friday before noon to make sure we have a table, because it got packed. We started with the Savannah Shrimp Salad, and it was very light and tasty. I had the braised lamb ribs and it was very flavorful, and my friend had the chicken fried chicken and it was good also. We also got the pistachio cheesecake for dessert, and it was very good and perfectly small portioned. read more

I dined here a few days ago with a friend of mine. We were attending a book signing that was hosted here and then we opted to stay for a full dinner. They had a special "Paleo menu" for the night, which I appreciated. However, it was a fixed menu with no substitutions allowed. You were also not allowed to order just the entree from the menu. I wanted the entree from the menu, but not the appetizer or dessert. I was a bit disappointed to learn it was all or nothing. Oh well. I ordered something else from the menu, instead. My meal was tasty, but not life changing. My friend's meal looked DELICIOUS (she had a scallop entree) and I was a bit jealous. We opted for the gluten free mousse for dessert, which we split. The server mis-interpreted our order and I thought I corrected the issue by clarifying we wanted the chocolate mousse, not the smore dessert, but the smore dessert was delivered. We informed the server who delivered the incorrect dessert of the issue and it was resolve quickly, but it made me a bit frustrated that we tried to communicate clearly, but it was misunderstood - not once, but twice. All in all, it was a satisfactory dining experience, but I'm not sure I'm willing to drive that far nor is it worth it for me to dine there on a regular basis. Just my two cents... read more

Super service and a great patio. I loved their version of the Big Mac and fries. Worth the calories! The shrimp with old bay seasoning dish (forgot the name) is super spicy and could use something bland to balance the heat like rice. Comes with a bread stick but it needs something to mix the roux with. Oysters sounded good but 6 for $18 seemed steep. Blueberry cobbler was fine...better than average but not a grand slam. Local Three has been on my list since I had their pulled pork kimchi slider at the Taste of Atlanta. I finally had a chance to check it out for Brunch today and...well...I think I'm in love! The place is certainly a "hidden gem" as it is located in the "The Forum" building just off Northside Parkway. It took me a minute (or two) to figure out where to go, good thing it wasn't dark! I would definitely suggest reading the directions page on their website if you are a 1st timer. As we walked through the door and down the hall, I was pleasantly surprised by the eclectically rustic decor and the authenticity of the staff. These people are warm, friendly and everyone seemed to be good looking (that certainly doesn't hurt). Our server was great and very attentive. I wish I could remember his name but he proudly wore a Falcon's tshirt :) Brunch was a delight and definitely worth every bit of the flat $19! It isn't your run-of-the-mill buffet. You are seated, drink orders taken, you are able to peruse the brunch menu (and this changes from week to week) and then head to the kitchen. As my friend and I entered the kitchen, we were greeted by yet another cute girl who smiled and offered up large buffet plates. The food is plated and on "the line" so you just walk down and grab what you want. The kitchen staff is super friendly and willing to tell you about each dish if you have questions. My friend and I tried almost every single item featured today. Everything was delicious but my top 3 favorites were: 1. Cauliflower soup (garnished with shredded beets) 2. Quiche (flaky crust, cheese, spinach and mushrooms) 3. Bacon (this wasn't just normal bacon, it seemed to melt in my mouth) **biscuits get an honorable mention because they were divine!!!** This is sexy space and they have a very cool looking wine cellar/private dining room that I can't wait to reserve for my next get-together. I went for the first time for the Whiskey tasting and really liked it.The ambiance was casual and liked the decor. Talk about a great bar menu, it was at least eight pages long. They had an extensive selection of Bourbon, Whiskey and Scotch. Bar service was excellent as well. I was in for the drinks, as the food was just okay.... I had the calamari sans the sausage, and while it was pretty good it wasn't something I'd order again. It was grilled which was nice change in pace from the usual fried fare, but it wasn't really my thing,maybe it was the seasoning. Anywho, back to the drinks- I could definitely see making this place my local watering hole, just based on the Bourbon selection alone. Score! read more

A friend of mine who lives in Marietta recommended this place (his friends from work frequent this place), and we (2 families with 6 kids total) went there on a Saturday evening. The best part: They don't have a kids' menu, but the chef made a linguini with marinara per request for my son. It was very tasty-garlicky, cheesy, great flavors!- and the portion was nice. We got "The McDowell" (gloriously glorified version of Big Mac), kid's pasta with marinara sauce, dozen oysters, and spring asparagus salad with crutons and soft boiled egg. McDowell was so good! I'm usually not a burger eater, but this was so yummy. Just right amount of beef patty with soft texture (to probably mimic the big Mac) and great flavor, soft bun perfectly grilled with butter, pickles, and thousand island type sauce. Fries were a bit soggy but still tasty. ($14.93) Asparagus salad - great flavors and textures all around. (around $13) Oysters - I didn't try them as they were not the gulf coast kind. My husband liked them but they were hefty. $37.5 for 12 oysters.@.@! Probably wouldn't order again. We also got to try the padron peppers appetizer that our friends ordered , which were very tasty (sweet tangy aioli based sauce on fried peppers with some red onion slivers) as well as coleslaw (in thick ribbon shape with capers, also very good.) Good, but not great: servers were very friendly and helpful. But the place seemed understaffed. By the time we finished our meal, the whole place was packed, and we had to wait quite long to find our servers. Good vibe, but a bit loud. Not good: Very tricky to find. No sign leading into the restaurant until you enter a court yard of many buildings..and so confusing with parking, too. It seems that people around the areas just know this place and come. Not sure if I went on an off night but food was very disappointing. Burgers are far from the competition (bocado & holeman). Wings were so soggy and salmon tartare was a joke. Oysters were nothing special, they didn't add a touch of "local three" to it. It was like getting oysters from anywhere. I am very hesitant about giving this place another try.... I read so many yelp reviews raving about this place. I'm just at a lost, since I've been to so many restaurants similar to Local Three, but have never been this disappointed. read more

First of all this place was very hard to find! You have to turn into what looks like an apartment complex and THEN you see signs for restaurant. They actually have a video online showing how to enter the building. Wish I knew that before because it's much harder than it seems. It's basically a buffet. I thought it was a little overpriced at $24\person. Our cocktails were $10 each. Lots of good food choices though and it's all you can eat. So if you are a big eater then you can get your money's worth. However its kind of pricey if you don't eat much. Includes coffee in the price. Bottom line - fun concept and different.
