It seems the New York gallery was briefly shuttered due to Covid but is back in the swing of things. Currently, they are showcasing Zachary Armstrong's Twelve Animals which I found to be a very whimsical take on the animals of the Chinese zodiac. The paintings were really textured lending it an air of playfulness. On exhibition as well are Curtis Barnes (We Wear the Mask) and Robert Rauschenberg (Subjective View). Barnes is also based in Dayton, OH but instead of animals, explores the Black experience in the Midwest with an equally lively palette.

I was having some trouble finding balance with how much pressure to use and in which angles to apply them and her patience and continued instruction while I tried to figure it out was very much appreciated. There was a moment when it finally clicked and I made 6 pieces that day, and she was genuinely happy and proud of me for not giving up and that feeling had me floating for the rest of the day. We wanted very much to purchase a piece (or pieces) by a young, female artist and we were able to do just that, and found a match that was perfect for us.
