I called J&J because of all the 5 star reviews - and was unfortunately taken advantage of. I…read moredescribed the problem to Mike before he came. I sent him text messages and pictures of the washer so there was no confusion. I told him that I've already diagnosed it myself and there was faulty wiring at the back. He called me back and said it was no problem and that he could fix it. He showed up, spent a few minutes pretending he was doing something at the control board, and then confirmed the same diagnosis, then told me to call an electrician and tried to charge me $90 just for that. When I reminded him that the whole reason I hired him was because I thought he was an electrician and he told me he could fix it, he suddenly offered to complete the job -- for $260+tax ($300 total). He spent a few minutes at the back of the washer with some OxGuard and a pair of pliers. When I asked him what he actually did (multiple times), he refused to explain and continue to say he's been in the business for 40 years. For $300, I expect some explanation. After he left the washer got stuck on "wash" mode that was never there before. Called him back and he called it a 'completely separate issue' (meaning he was going to charge me if he came back). I went in myself and found a yellow wire disconnected from the control board right where he was playing around earlier. Ended up diagnosing and fixing his mistake on my own. $300 for OxiGuard and pliers, a new problem created, and zero accountability. Posting this as a warning to others. Save your money and call someone else!

He commented that he worked in the factory when our fridge was made and that our model was most certainly worth repairing. He also happened to have the right part (PC board) with him that we needed. In almost no time flat our fridge was purring away just like normal and all done at a very reasonable cost. We are happy customers and will tell others of our experience.

I will not recommend Cropley's Speedy Appliance Service. Speedy it was not. Came to my house…read moreTuesday morning and advised me the shock absorbers were broken. Don't use your washer - I'll be in touch. Took my $85 and said it'll be used towards the repair. Never heard a peep. Followed up on Monday and Jay returned my call. Admitted he was out of town and couldn't find the part and apologized that no one kept me updated. I told him I have the parts. Ordered off Amazon. I asked how was I able to find the part and he couldn't. I'm not into the fixing appliances industry. He couldn't fit me in until Wednesday (although I was a call from the previous week) to install them. By Tuesday they were installed by someone else. I asked what he could do for me and he offered nothing. One week and no communication. Certainly this doesn't shout "speedy" to me. An open line of communication would have been helpful too!

It's worth calling them before replacing an appliance. They will tell you if they can repair it for less than replacing. We had mixed experiences with our 48" fridge and freezer repair. Our initial issue was related to…read morethe freezer not cooling and making a very loud noise when running. This took 3 visits to resolve with the first being a bit of a misdiagnosis. After that- that issue was resolved fairly easily. The second request was for fridge and freezer gasket replacement. This was (and still is) a complete disaster. The gasket has been changed, installed a second time, reordered, and reinstalled- without the issue being rectified. A heat gun was used by the tech at the initial installation to help the gasket expand. This damaged the inside of the door and the freezer compartment still isn't as it should be in terms of the gasket forming a proper seal. We were essentially told the issue with the seal had to do with "internal insulation degradation" and that there is nothing more to be done. We are left with the option to use paper towels to expand the gasket so it reaches the body of the freezer- still with no actual seal. No attempt to compensate for the time, effort, and lack of ability to fix the issue on the part of the company. The tech we dealt with is very professional, personable, and helpful, but the lack of the company's accountability for the job not being completed to a satisfactory level leaves me not so happy to recommend this company to anyone- particularly since the simpler of the 2 jobs we requested was the one that has still not been resolved. The cost of the services was also excessive given the number of times we had to have them out and the fact that it is still not repaired properly.
