What: Fruits, vegetables, plants, herbs, jams, preserves, eggs, cheese, fresh cut flowers, pastas, Uprise Bakery breads, Missouri Legacy beef, and more all grown/raised/baked with love within a 55 mile radius of that very spot. Where: Behind the ARC on the corner of Ash and Clinkscales. Lots of parking, folks. When: Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon. Why: Because you love waking up to the smell of organic breakfast burritos and you deserve a Saturday morning slice of banana bread. Because you bought that canvas tote bag and by golly you want to fill it up. Because you LOVE fresh basil and some Yelper named Chelsea B. said they have the best blackberries she has EVER tasted and you want to try them, too. Because it really is fresh and local, it isn't shipped in on a diesel-fueled truck from Chile, these are nice people doing right by the world, and you want to support it. Well go you.

I was in Columbia for a family wedding and was excited to see, my welcome bag had favorites of the…read morebride and groom. I had a packet of Chocolate Covered Pretzels and another packet containing a Chocolate Covered Oreo. Typically I was a glass of cold milk with my Oreo, but this one from the Candy Factory was perfect just being dipped in chocolate. The pretzels gave me a nice mix of savory and sweet. The two pack had one dipped in Milk Chocolate and another in, White Chocolate. I surprised myself, by liking the White Chocolate best. It seemed to have a sweeter taste, which went well with the salty pretzel. While out exploring downtown Columbia, I stopped by to give their Chocolate Covered Strawberries a tasting. OMG - so good. The chocolate shell had a good crunch and the berry was super juicy. I feel bad that I did not, take a picture of the deliciousness. The customer service was attentive and the associates were eager to recommend their favorites. If you love chocolate, you gotta stop by Candy Factory.

Having been purchasing Uncle Butch's brand fudge for the last year, I was expecting the same quality and taste but was wrong. It is just average fudge. Much less flavor than Uncle Butch's. Second, the customer service is terrible. They do not stand behind their products and have a no refund policy! What company does that??? And finally, they claim that I am the only complaint they have ever had since they opened! That is a ridiculous statement and again, proof of poor customer service and they blatantly lie!

This is the spot of the farm for the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture, whose office is…read moreactually at 214 Saint Joseph St. So it's where the dirt is. Literally and figuratively. On Mon/Wed/Fri they have a vegetable sale, 4-8ish, or until they run out. They have herbs, squash, greens, etc. And it's cheap. They even take EBT. The farm also has chickens on site, and they occasionally give classes, recently (summer 2010) they had a demonstration for culling chickens. Not for the urban squeamish. There is also a lot of composting going on, and they have that worm-composting, too, and classes on all of this stuff. I like this place, because the only other farmer's markets are way outside of downtown, and since I live downtown I can actually walk to this one in 15 minutes. The folks are nice as can be, and it's a great resource for us city folks to learn more about where our food may come from, how it goes from manure to our plate (sorry for the imagary there...),

Well, I'm here to tell you: get off at exit 148 and prepare to have your mind blown. The food is amazing. Well-spiced, the naan is fresh, the biryani magical, and everyone is nice. The restaurant itself is a food truck attacked to a giant car port, housed under a giant yellow tent. This sounds weird, but as my photos will show, it's actually incredible. We were there on a grubby 45° February day and you'd hardly know it, chowing down in there on the brightly colored picnic tables atop a well manicured lawn of artificial grass, as trucker after trucker came through to pick up their food. The experience was sublime. You'll discover plenty of unique places to eat out there in this big weird world, and one day I hope you'll find yourself under a yellow tent in the middle of a parking lot full of idling big rigs eating samosas across from someone you're happy to drive across Missouri with, because it's these small joys that make eating your way through life so meaningful.

Stumbled on tiny play on the web and so glad we booked. The online reservation process was a little much for a one time visit, but it worked out. The play area was so clean, staff were friending and the kids were thrilled. Enjoyed the separate baby area. They have a coffee bar and separate birthday party rooms. We will go again if in Columbia.
